Bakka , I have sent you an invite. Welcome aboard! (There's a science fiction bookstore in Toronto called Bakka -- name comes from Dune, if I am not mistaken?) Thank you for the kind wishes, Mumblefratz and Purge . ElWhop0 , glad that you found it helpful. When I have time, I plan to compile all of that information into some kind of coherent intermediate level strategy guide. Judging from comments throughout these forums, that seems like something that

You just stumbled upon the great fallacy that many athiests (though not all) make. You said "I know." ...and then you start your next sentence with: I know that there is a God, and I know what He wants me to do. How can I say that I know this? Because I believe in revalation, that God does speak to man. I accept the witness of those who He has called as Prophets, who have seen Him, have heard His voice, and lead His ch

I had to read up on fallacies and argumentation theory to get an idea what you were getting at, ghostwes. I'm not sure yet, but I'm trying. I never said I was an expert in anything, or claimed to be completely trustworthy. Oh, of course. That was understood. My suggestion was not meant as a criticism of what you said so much as a helpful addition to it. I don't have any problems with what you've said here; I apologize if it came across that way.

Huh? Not sure what "hatred" or "sickness" you're referring to here, MarcusCardiff ... and I didn't mention terrorism at all. I mean, some terrorists are fundamentalists, certainly, but not all fundamentalists are terrorists, surely? I was, of course, referring to fundamentalism in the religious sense only, and, frankly, terrorism didn't even enter my mind as I wrote it. Perhaps you simply misunderstood what I was saying? In any case, no harm done. Have a good nig

While I don't want to get involved in a serious discussion of religion, as an atheist, I must beg to differ with what the TheGreatEmperor said above. Atheism is simply the absence of belief in a deity; it does not imply being anti-religion, nor does pacifism really have anything to do with it. It is also decidedly *not* a religion, in any sense of the definition. "Calling Atheism a religion is like calling bald a hair color." --Dan Hirschberg Meanwhil

I'm sorry, Starstriker1, but my own personal creation mythos leaves no room for silliness like dinosaurs. I mean, obviously, the world began at 4:08am on August 30th, 1970. Dinosaurs? Pfft. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to bed. You can all begin your existences anew again when I wake up.

My religion states that you are all minor characters in a big play called "Ghostwes". Now, if I can only find out who's directing the damned thing...

I read Bio of a Space Tyrant back in early high school and remember it favourably. Was it as good as I remember? Most Piers Anthony does not hold up now, I find. Maybe I'll try that series again...

I just looked at Makara's scores on the metaverse. 4 games with a score of 155661! I'm definitely impressed! When that posts to the altmeta The Gerontacracy should jump up a notch for sure, ghostwes. Indeed, we have just moved into fifth place . Of course, if you look at the scores for the top three empires, we still have a lot of catching up to do heh. This must be how Liechtenstein feels. <br/

I love Wikipedia. I can spend hours surfing from article to article. I've lost many hours doing this. That said, I'm reluctant to treat Wikipedia as a source for 'facts' per se... too many problems with the site and its contributors, especially in the past few months.

According to the poll results on the side, it seems that most GalCiv players get their game news from Usenet. Usenet?!? How many people under 35 have even heard of Usenet? Craziness. Myself, I love Usenet, but still... Embird (Makara) , welcome to the empire, ma'am -- your fantastic scores will be a great boon to our growing empire. I see that we also have fresh wins submitted by Brogan the Bad and Simian X . Good job, guys! I managed to submi

I received the following message in my Gmail account, which is set to receive GalCiv2 stuff (though this is the first time I've seen this). For some reason, there was no userid attached, so I have no idea who sent it or how to respond to them. There isn't anything similar in my inbox here on the site itself, so I'm rather confused. Did one of you send this? "Hi ghostwes - wanted to touch base and find out why I didn't see anything ref: joining the Gerontacracy Empire yet. Do I need to h

Bah, I'm only "emperor" because I was the one who made the empire, heh. We're all equal, as far as I am concerned. Having said that, if dropping my name gets you some attention from Susie, by all means do so... Err, and find out if she has any cute friends. Just sayin'

Bah, I'm only "emperor" because I was the one who made the empire, heh. We're all equal, as far as I am concerned. I did however make my alt Incitatus a senator, just like my favourite emperor did.

The Man-Kzin war books were based on Larry Niven's Ringworld series. I have read both that book and its not quite so awesome sequel, Ringworld Engineers , but didn't bother continuing after that. The Man-Kzin series were mostly short stories written by other authors, I believe. As for good science fiction that I have read, it would be easier to list the ones I have not read

Good job, ElWhop0! Two submitted games in as many days. We've moved up to 16th place thanks to you. Keep up the good work, sir. As for myself, I plan on submitting one or two games per week... probably closer to one, realistically, but I'll try to make the points count.

(It's possible that this has been suggested before; if so, please ignore. Suffice to say, the suggestions threads are rather daunting, heh.) One of the few complaints I have with GalCiv2 is that all the races seem more or less the same as each other after a while. Even with their starting bonuses and unique abilities, they often end up playing much the same, especially in the endgame. I don't know how many of you have played the boardgame <a href="http://www.boardgamegeek.com/g

Well I don't care if its memorial day they sever more than the US so they should not be closed. They said monday to friday and this is Monday so they should be open. I do not live in the Us so I should not be affected by that. I think it's the post above that you are being roundly mocked for, avmf8, and rightly so. However, I agree with you that Stardock should probably have changed their phone message to indicate that it was Memorial Day. That

So you don't remember something called World War II? You Know... when the USA had to save the world from Nazi facism, We in USA, like to take 1 day of a 365 day year to remember things like that so they don't happen again.
