2) Hrm, I thought there was a 1 per planet improvement that would allow them to defend w/ your logistics skill and another that was a once in galaxy that defending regardless of logistics skill... Without being at my home pc to check, I....I got nothing. It should not require an improvement of any kind; it's a matter of common sense tactics, really. If a fleet of battleships attacks an opposing navey, would you expect the defending navy to send one ship

So, other than First Strike, is there no advantage to being the attacker? It does seem that I win more combats when I am the attacker...
The default ships are horrid; if there was a way to delete them altogether, I would do so immediately. Actually, is there a way to do that?
I abstain.
So, I just completed a rather harrowing gigantic game. Before I started this game, I decided that I would take notes while I was playing, and try to think of things that could be improved in the game, or just note things that kind of annoy me while playing it. Many of these complaints would have been mentioned were I involved in a beta version of TA, but since Stardock has decided not to do a beta this time, I offer the following instead. Add the standard disclaimer that I love
That was one of the original suggested names, I think. I'm not opposed, really. Anyone have a problem with amending the name a little bit?
That's a shame, drrider , because we'd certainly love to have you join us.
drrider , the Kzinti are from Larry Niven's excellent Ringworld , and its many not-so-excellent sequels.
Congrats, Embird! Good show! As for the other empire, you should be able to use your league character in both the league and Evil Empire, or any empire, really. If you feel you would like to leave the Gerontocracy, though -- even if only temporarily -- I won't hold it against you.
PeskyFly , for a guy who hasn't even got the game, you sure do seem to be doing well at it!
Thanks a lot, drrider -- that will help me out a lot!
Interesting post... especially from someone who, from your profile, has only been here since September 3rd. An odd comparison to make, in any case; the games don't really have a lot in common, IMHO.
There's a better way to do ads in games such as placing ads in the game world Product placement would bother me a lot more, actually; it's enough to make me stop watching a movie or television show, though I don't recall seeing it in a game thus far. Coupons sound reasonable, however.
If we're all choosing the same racial attributes, I wonder if their costs should be raised? (Or other attribute costs lowered, to make them more appealing.)
A little before my time, heh. Although I started this empire for older players, I'm actually only 37. That's ancient by most gamer standards, but nothing compared to a respectable methuselah like yourself Thanks for the challenge! drrider , you may have also missed my query in a different thread. You had mentioned recently purchasing a new computer. Since I am also in the market ri
1 research lab and 20 coordinators Very bureaucratic, heh.
Question about morale buildings, how would you like the behavior changed? This is something that could be addressed in 1.7. Brad, you might find some good insight in the following thread: The Death of Morale Buildings I think, from reading that thread, the answer to your question above might be: make morale buildings do what they say they do.
Ok, enough rambling Actually, a little bit more rambling, if you don't mind, drrider . Mind posting the system you just built? I'm in the market for a new system myself and want to see what others have come up with. Thanks in advance.
Is that a..."i told you so i hear".... No, not at all. More of a "Better you than me!"
Everyone start the Kryo summoning ritual, on my mark. Ready? Go! Kryo, by the power vested in me by MarcusCardiff , I do summon thee! ---------------------- Neilo, I just started reading through the original league thread, and it's notable that quite a few of the people who threw ideas in the ring did not actually join us. Might be worth asking them why...
Hmmm. Not sure I can add much, I'm afraid. The only thing you can really take from my original idea would be to make the teams as actual empires, since the empire system was what made me come up with the idea in the first place. I don't think that's really essential, mind you, but it would provide a built-in scoring system in the form of the metaverse (I keep wanting to spell that as "meatverse" -- is anyone else having that problem?). Unlike many people who have opined, I do t
MarcusCardiff, you have achieved a Technological Victory!
I'm sorry Ghost but regardless of TP's comments, a resubmition is not allowed by the rules of the league. I hope this is no way makes you feel that you shouldn't play, as this is not my intent. But if we relax the rules for one, then we must do it for all. Ah, I must have misunderstood something somewhere. There are a lot of little rules to remember... No worries. I withdraw my second submission. Next time I'll just submit a few games to the MV
Revised win... did this a second time to get a better score. A win to report for the Blade Runners: Score: 13650 Years: 10 Victory Type: Military Character Name: Incitatus Submission datetime: 8/26/2007 7:02:22 PM I was trying to go for a speed game, which is not my usual style. Alas, the mega-events kind of got in the way of this plan. Interesting scenario, actually. You know the event where an Arnor device makes all uncolonized planets in a 2-sector r
I think the hint might have something to do with Atlantis...
