it is often possible. not saying you can grab every transport from every ai, just nerf the one you see as getting out of control. transports are sorta expensive, but not so much that you can't buy lots of them if you stay on the ball. of course if it is the torians you could be in trouble, lol. you have no choice but to check for them every turn tho, cause once they fleet up you can't touch them. this is just a variant on a puppetmaster strategy i had to develop when i saw the price on a war jum

aww, that will just mean not using the list. i was hoping there was some way to have the list but just shut off the email notification. bummer. thks tho

yep, that's the key. i almost always beat maso, but i sweat alot in the beginning. i have NOT played maso at anything but gigantic tho so i can't comment on how bad it will be on smaller maps. play to survive at first, then after you have time to build your infrastructure start picking the ai off with care. use tech trading to keep near the competition tech lvl. build a monster economy so you can afford to buy opponent troop transports. they may still fight wars, but if yo

supply lines and borders are more of a 2space issue than a 3space one. granted, the game plays in 2space, but is hypothetically 3space. there are no roads to interdict to cut supply lines. you would have to use a great deal of resources to try to cut a space supply line. you would pretty much have to resort to blockades of planets. same with borders. all they have to do to break your border is travel a bit on the z-axis and you border may as well not exist. so again, claims on regions of space a

ok, i tagged a few threads for ease of tracking them down. i don't check my email daily so i check about a week after and now there are a whole mess o' messages with links to those forum threads, like one every time someone has posted or something. all i was wanting was all the threads that interested me available one one convienient page. so, is there a way i can get the email notification turned off? i would hate to have to sick my spam filter on the problem. never know

well, if your trying for a diplomatic victory path you kinda need to use your diplomacy to slow down their war efforts. have you ever concidered how much trouble they would have progressing in their war efforts without troop transports? see if you can manage do use your diplomacy to trade for these at a reasonable cost and let them fight each other but not take planets. bring the transports back and fill up your planets. this requires a diplo/econ type of infrastructure, but maybe this is your s

lol, cool. i thought maybe you were somehow calling me a flamer somehow when i was trying out my peacemaker hat. what confused me was the sentence: top post. i was reading it as 'original post' you see. trying to use that as a context for what came after hurt my poor widdle head now i see it was a statement of appreciation for my efforts. just hope it helps get this forum back to it's relativly

@xpyre i am not sure what you're trying to say. is there a period you didn't intend in that or something? you really lost me here.

oh how i wish a dev would accuratly fill out that difficulty lvl chart on wiki!! i can handle maso but i wont even try higher because it annoys me to not know the handicap i am facing. if i know it i can take it or leave it, but not knowing..... gets my paranoia up.(that's why they won't post that info, they are trying to make me paranoid so the gov has an excuse to grab me!!)

one more thorugh example to beat this point to death ship with 5 shield, 9 armor, 1 point defense effective armor= 9+int(sqrt(5))+int(sqrt(1))=9+2+1=12 armor effective shield= 5+int(sqrt(9))+int(sqrt(1))=5+3+1=9 shield effective pd= 1+int(sqrt(5))+int(sqrt(9))=1+2+3=6 point defense so 5/9/1 is functionally 9/12/6 it pays to hit those squares at least th

they find some biological units are effecient gatherers of carbon and other useful materials. having chasis formed of carbon fiber and carbon nanotube based wiring, we find the methodologies used by selfaware organic units a useful means of mining said resources. besides, stainless steel is SO last year...

(buttinski enters stage right) i am afraid i am gonna have to back up unfun here. i have read most of what he has been posting lately, and i have come to the conclusion that he has NOT really been bragging. having figured out what he has does not make him a super player or stud by any means. he has not said otherwise. he just comes across as somewhat of a braggart because he is a somewhat stereotypical computer geek-in-training. social skills are not his forte. he is going to school f

well, since this game is not multiplayer exploitation of the ai weaknesses is kinda the point with something like meteverse. he whom manipulates the system best wins. that said, is he working the ai or the scoring system? there is always room for improvement in the ai, and i don't doubt that the scoring could be better as well. you suggest that SD is keeping a close eye on their games, correct? if he has found something unacceptably exploitable they will see this and try to fix it, right?

26.62 for a PQ 10 planet. there is a bug that denies you the bonus from an improvement if you finish building immediatly after you upgrade the tech. seeing as how your just about 10b from your target i am guessing you had this problem. do NOT destroy any of your old farms, but add one additional one to see if that gets your pop growing again. this is suggested as a test, not a solution. if it IS the cause you can consider loading a save before you got the farm techs and go from there.

not sure i would like that unless you could control the order of module building. have you ever tried putting a rally point on a starbase and assigning planets to send built ships to that rally point?

7 Replies 11,489 Views

one thing you may not be appreciating is the power of logistic tech. if your ships are weaker but you have more of the you can still come out of top. as to the actual shipbuilding, concentrate one one weapon type per ship. do not spread it around or you will just maximize the defenses of enemy ships. know what enemy ships have on them. espionage or checking stats on the actual combat screen if you don't have the intel lvl high enough. if they have you owned defensively you

i think they act like planets, but the influence they generate is based on the modules you add, not population. your total accumulated influence is a factor too, so just a empty starbase would apply that i believe. now, i am no expert on this. i only use influence to police up spare planets, but i ~think~ that's how it works. hopefully someone will wander by that can confirm or correct me.

yep, half price on the bonus production. tile bonuses are not that sort of bonus tho. 100% bonus tile acts as an extra of what you build on it. saves you money of building and maintance but production cost if still full. racial, starbase, anomily, mined resource, and planet(moons, rings, or random) are the ones that get you the discount. i don't remember any random events that give global bonuses to these, but... as to the what for, research bonuses apply to research. produc

unless they get cornered, yea. they seem to do a good job during the rush in my games too, making them one of the main threats. if they are not next to me i don't have much problem with them, but when are i have to worry. other races seem to do better in the endgame tho.

4 Replies 14,692 Views

of course it's easy....if your not having trouble managing things. i usually let them fill those gaps for me in my games, but i have enough experience to manage things if they start getting squirly. i also know about how many planets i can allow them to colonize for me before it will become a problem. unfortunatly i don't think i can adequitely explain where that point is. i am viewing this thread as mainly something for noobs. for them filling holes is good advice, which i expect them to start

often the worst starts are due to things you can't see. like say Drengi with a precursor mine on it just a bad position is worth giving a shot. even off in the corner like that has interesting posibilities. for instance, if the ai don't have those life support techs you might be able to go piratical on them. the will have one hell of a time getting to you after all, and you DO work up those tec

ah, thanks for reminding me of that one Meklar 10) keep your territory pure. if you leave the lil planets for them to grab THEY WILL. this leaves your territory looking like swiss cheese and them upset about your unsettling influnece. while it sucks to spend a colony ship on those it is necessary if your having problems with wars starting too early in your games. also, i agree with you about the diplomacy having a weak effect. the things you can do WITH diplomacy tho can b
