Bonus Prod/Research?

Can someone explain what kind of expense Bonus Prod/Research is?
I understand Production and Research. But what about BONUS P/R?

Mind you, I dont have any planets focus on Production or Research...

My understanding is that bonus prod/research is at half cost.

yep, half price on the bonus production. tile bonuses are not that sort of bonus tho. 100% bonus tile acts as an extra of what you build on it. saves you money of building and maintance but production cost if still full. racial, starbase, anomily, mined resource, and planet(moons, rings, or random) are the ones that get you the discount. i don't remember any random events that give global bonuses to these, but...

as to the what for,
research bonuses apply to research.
production to military and social production.
social production only to building your tiles.
military production only to shipbuilding.
