I spent a lot of time creating three custom races to play against, including every last ship for all three of them. So, I finally play against them this game, despite the fact that there's a bug that severely gimps custom AIs by having them always set at -30% economy and +20% abilities. (Which doesn't help them, so far they're getting taken out by the other AIs in the early stages of the game. I really hope this gets fixed next patch.) Anyhow, I finally began seeing some ships from m

With AI Ships designs I notice that they ruin the time I spent designing neat ships by sticking in modules and weapons at random all over them, at what I believe is the maximum magnification. How about having the AI use the lowest possible magnification setting when putting equipment on a ship? That would cut down on the eyesore that this creates.
Would you mind uploading them to imageshack and posting the links here? I'd love to have them. Thanks
I see ... anyone know where I can find the rest of the portraits from this game, or other human portraits in this style then?
This image was posted on another forum: http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/2863/terranuh5.png apparently it's part of a set of similar Terran Images. I looked through the library but didn't find any, I was wondering if anybody had the rest of these, or any decent human portraits for making different custom races. I was looking for something more along these lines, and less "Star Treky" sci-fi style. Thanks
I know that DA was just released, but I was wondering if there was another expansion planned on down the line? I really like the game and would love to see even more added to it at some point. I've heard a lot of speculation, but nothing concrete from devs on whether this is the end of Gal Civ II as far as major expansions go, or if more were planned.
How about the option to threaten the AI, I've been waiting a long time to be able to tell it go get those warships out of my space or remove all the economy/influence starbases it seems to put in at random. It does it to me, so why can't I threaten it? This would be good if it could be worked, but it must be a biatch to program. What parameters would the AI use to determine a fair response, and how far woul

IS there any way to take screenshots other than print screen and alt tabbing? Takes forever ...
okay, thanks for the first part, any idea how to fix the sliders issue? is there something I'm doing wrong?
Something that works for me is to make quality ships that are specifically tailored to beat the types of weapons and defense they're using. Make sure you have good logistics and miniaturization techs, they're every bit as important as weapons/defense. If possible, trade to get ahead of them weapons/defense wise, making sure that a single one of your ships can hopefully have a 2:1 advantage to theirs in terms of statistics. If you have a small amount of space to defend, it should be
If you want instant HP restoration, just go to upgrade, and upgrade the ship to the same class it already is. For a small fee, it regains all its HP, usually in one turn. I usually do this with my Huge hulls that are about to die, retreat them back to my territory, "upgrade" them, and then back they go.
I guess I should also mention; When I'm editing my custom race as an opponent and playing as a default race, my custom ship style appears; the colony ship I made pops up and rotates when viewing the ship style. However, when I'm playing as my race, and I'm in the screens before you start a new game where you can edit your race, the Terran Alliance colony ship appears instead, even though the style is still set as my custom.
Hi, I've been creating ships for my custom race, and also created a custom ship style for it. However, when I start a new game as my race, the miner, survey ship, and colony ship are still all the Terran Alliance style, even though I've selected my custom ship style, unique from all the other races, as the Race's Ship style, and have replaced all of these with my own designs. I didn't overwrite any styles to create mine or anything, so what can I do to fix this? If
Not sure, but I think that has to do with the intelligence level you're playing on. Normal and below, the AI takes a hit to abilities and economy, they're only run at 100% on tough, so they're being decreased proportionally from what you've given them, but if you put it on tough, they'll probably go back to what you initially set.
Hi, I sent a bug report this past saturday I believe it was, and still haven't heard back, save for the confirmation email. Does anyone know what the average response time is for these things? Thanks
This has started happening to me again too, even though the driver's gone. It really makes playing a chore because of the long loading times and loss of everything I've done the past few turns, and more often than not I just find myself quitting whenever it happens. Searching online turns up a lot of issues with this same driver, but no solutions.
I have similar issues ... This past game the Korx were at war with the Terran Alliance and the Drath Legion, and they were at "close" with me. I had avoided an alliance, because I wasn't ready to fight the Drath and the Terrans. Yet, when they surrendered, rather than surrender to me, they surrendered to the Terran Alliance, which makes no sense, because I have never had an AI surrender to me if I am attacking it, and they were all but allied with me.
Ok, sent. Thanks for all your help, I know I've been posting a lot of bug threads lately, and I appreciate that you guys take the time to respond.
I'd like to see planet invisons not be a massive genocide, that way we have a more realistic play in having to deal two or three different spieces living on the same planet. It would also be nice if we could conquer enemy starbases and make them or own lastly could we please get an offical map editor for the game. This. Invasion needs a little more detail in my opinion. I also think that planet
http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=149 These are RabidMonkey's ships, and I can't get them to work in my game. Extracted them all to the ships folder, started a new game, and yet none of them show up. Other people have mentioned missing XML files ... could this be it? Any advice?
Hi, I've noticed that sometimes when I click on ships in the shipyard and try to upgrade them, the game crashes to the desktop, giving me the message "Dark Avatar has encountered an error and needs to shut down." This usually occurs after I've been messing around in the editor for a while. Here is a debug.err. Any ideas? I thought each race got its own set of hulls now? Anyhow, yeah, I installed it under Dark Avatar and used the DA version; I also enabled it in the mods option in the game, yet I don't see asteroids or any of the new stuff still, guess I'll try reinstalling it here in a minute.
Hi, I recently updated my Kryo's mod to the DA version, and deleted the old DL version as he said in the readme. However, when I start a new game, the only hull types that show up are Terran, Altarian, Yor, Drengin, Torian, and the Dread Lord Hulls. Within those, there are no new DA hulls either. Also, the hulls are split up under the three extra types, Terran appear under "My Style", Dread Lords under the next tab, and the remaining three under the last tab. <b
Hey, dumb question, but do I need to change anything to get Kryo's mod to work with DA? I'm not seeing the hulls or asteroids available.
