Is it worth upgrading to Twilight from DA? From what I've read on here it almost sounds like TOTA was kind of a step down. I've read about some kind of crippling tech tree bug and some complaints about the AI, which I never would have imagined. Is there a definitive list of what's new/better in the Twilight that wasn't there in Avatar? Would it be better to just wait until GCIII comes out? Has it even been announced yet?

I noticed that some of the base hull designs, ie, "terran cargo 3" or "yor small 1", all those, have been modified to look better for Arnor. My question is, let's say I used a blocky base hull with lots of angular surfaces to build a huge battleship around, now that those flat surfaces are gone and have become smooth or rounded, is this going to cause the parts that I made my battleship from and attached to those flat surfaces to get all screwed up? Or better yet, are DA
I swear I read somewhere that there are going to be right of passage treaties in Arnor. Is this true, and if so, what do they do? I can't seem to find any information on them. (If they actually exist.)
nobody knows?

Could I potentially construct my own tech tree for a custom race, picking and choosing what I want on it and what can be connected to what?
How about at the end game where everyone has the tech tree researched, coordinated terrorism/emp wave/something sets every race back a random number of techs for each branch on the tech tree? Each race would be set back the same amount, but that amount could be random. I could see some sort of coup in one of the weaker races or in a powerful one causing them to become much more warlike and begin concentrating on conquest if they aren't already.
I also have this issue.
I usually take Economy +30% and Federalists for Economy +50% overall Defenses + 30% Weapons + 20% Morale + 15% HP + 30% Research + 10% (Although I'm thinking of investing these two points elsewhere) And the Super Isolationist ability to keep the AI out of my territory or at least slow them down during a war/colony rush, but then again I base where I spend my points on the personality of the race I'm playing, not what I think is always the most effective.<br/
Well, like I said, these are just ideas, the game is great as it is, but I'd love to see a more in depth combat and diplomacy/political system. I don't necessarily want a fullscale tactical system, but some more options that just the aforementioned paper-rock-scissors in future expansions/sequels would be great. I've never played any of the master of orion games, but I'd prefer something original to a carbon copy of a game that's already out. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_
I'm not really working on anything, the only modding I've done has been pretty basic, just giving my custom races custom homestars and planet textures. I don't have the expertise to implement much of what I mentioned, maybe the gov't types, but that's it. These are all my own ideas, the only other strategy game I've ever played was starcraft, and that's an RTS. Gal Civ is the first TBS I've ever played. By the way, if it's taking you 15 weeks to research Space Weapons, there'
Sorry, I pretty much only play my custom civs in sandbox games. Haven't had much experience with the Dread Lords, but basically you need to outnumber them a good bit, and from the looks of things, research all the invasion and planetary defense techs to get your soldiering rating up. Build the Tir-Quan training galactic Wonder too for a 25% bonus. Anyhow, something that occurred to me that I'd left out was types of government. As it stands, everyone has no choice but to be a
Yeah, I was sort of just talking about things that I've had in my head for a while, some are more reasonable than others. I still want to stress that I think the game is great, and I love it, to the point where I actually spent time coming up with all these things.
Addendum under "Pipe Dreams": Doomsday Devices I'd love to see the ability to destroy a planet or star system via a doomsday device of some form. It could move very slowly and be unable to mount anything but the doomsday weapon, so as to balance out its power. Supercapital Ships: This probably is getting superfluous, but maybe a supercapital ship so large that each society would only be able to sustain 4-5 of them. Capable of taking on a fleet on its own, but not so huge as t
Hi, My last game of DA a couple of things came up that seemed like they needed expansion or improvement. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great game, but it seems to me like there are some simple ways to improve it, probably in a future expansion pack, but who knows. Anyhow ... Diplomacy Related 1.) I've said this before, but I really really really want the option to threaten the AI. If they decide to stick an infl
Having ships orbit a planet improves their offense, but not their defense? What's the justification here? Why doesn't it affect defense as well? Weapons are more powerful in orbit? I think the rationale behind this is that they are receiving fire support from the planet's surface. Easier to shoot at the invading ships from the ground than to boost the shields or whatever of your defenders I suppose.
A satisfied customer chiming in here to say that I don't really care what your political beliefs are so long as you guys keep up the good work on the games. Also - welcome to the western world, where people are allowed to pretty much do or say whatever they want. It's ironic that you hate the opinions on that page so much that you posted this thread and went on a tirade about how wrong they are, because you're doing exactly the same thing, just from the opposite side. It's a
Already done, see library--this time it is an update thanks!
do you mind releasing a variant of this mod that only includes the Miniaturization and Logistics and doesn't alter the point/percentage values for the other abilities?
I'm talking about the movies that show up when you bring up the tech trading screen. I tried changing them in the Race's file to the .PNG Images I had, but it doesn't seem to have worked. Is there a particular location I need to specify? I have them in the movies folder under mygames/galciv2/darkavatar/gfx/movies. So, it has to be an actual movie, no way to use an image?
For some reason this isn't showing up on the active posts page?
I created a set of portraits for some of my custom opponents, one for neutral, one for happy, and one for angry. I figured out how to set the Neutral portrait pretty easily, but I'm wondering if there's a way I can have the Angry and Happy pictures show up when relations are bad or good? The pictures are PNGs right now if that helps any. Thanks for any advice.
I know I'm probably not the first person to notice this, but some of the default races have INSANE racial abilities. The Yor have miniaturization bonuses, loyalty bonuses, soldiering bonuses, and other things, in ADDITION to the 10 points they get to spend on customization. The Krynn, Altarians, and Korath strike me as being pretty broken too. Custom races just can't stack up to this, and I understand now why despite my being the leader in research, having a higher population,
CCP is the company running Eve Online, and the fact that they play in the game and give themselves huge benefits (their corps and themselves) is widely known. Sounds like somebody got burned. Actually, this is known fact. I know of at least one concrete case where a dev was caught manipulating a lottery to get his alliance much better equipment. And what did they do to the person that found out about it and exp
I've seen a lot of threads with complicated discussion of economic math and formulas, but very few that actually discuss what you need to do to get a high income. As such, here is a fairly successful strategy that I use, that hopefully some other people can tell me how to improve. Basically, any planet that doesn't have either two or more +100% tiles or 1 300% tile for research or production becomes an economy planet. That is, for PQ 10 or greater, I build two farms, two entertainment
