Hi, I recently downloaded Croc411's Terran Naval ships, and I really like the designs, however, whenever the ships are on screen during the game, it skips and jumps really badly. If there are more than 3 ships on the screen, it's all I can do to scroll across them. In his readme it states that they will lag the game because the XML file is huge. My question is, how can I reduce the size of this file, or otherwise fix this problem? I'm playing on a 2

But the one thing that continually irks me is the title of this thread There was a reason I put it in quotation marks. Working in a political border and the diplomatic options that would go with it seems like a simple and fun way to improve
It wouldnt be a "few lines of code". Or if it was, you would end up having carriers with no ships swarming around your homeplanet. You know like they already do with freightors. If your going to attack someone else talking about coding, you should do alittle first. AI development is extremely hard when your trying to get it to do something "right". How would it use t
What are YOU talking about? Sounds like you need to take a closer look at the ship editor. Guess I'm the one who needs to clarify now, as this statement bugged me. What I meant by this was, it's not going to be the vastly unbalancing factor that you seem to think it is.
You aren't making a lick of sense, and you aren't really reading anybody elses ideas, just making statements based on ideas that weren't really presented here. I have no idea why you're so against carriers, but if you're going to attack them, try to please at least make logical statements. its compleatly unbalnced... and the AI would never would be able ot use
I fail to see why it's unbalancing. A carrier could carry fighters that are either beam, missile, or gun, and they could be deployed like a weapon in battle, like the Carrier in starcraft, automatically launching and attacking when a battle begins, and returning to a bay for refit when damaged. OR you could have a carrier module that when attached will give small + tiny hulls the speed and lifesupport of the ship with the carrier module if grouped into a fleet with them. I like th
The starbase issue hasn't come up in the UP yet, so I haven't had a chance to vote on it. To the Freighter Bonus, that would make sense, but they're also sticking them in in large amounts around systems that have no habitable planets. The economy starbases are also completely un-upgraded, so even the ones that could potentially be getting bonuses aren't. The ones around my home planet are especially annoying.
Only reason I haven't gone to war is because I'm on friendly terms with three of the four, and close to achieving a diplomatic victory. Militarily, I'm the most powerful race around, but still not strong enough to simultaneously attack 4 seperate civs. Also, Influence isn't an issue here, it's mainly the clutter is slowing down my machine, plus giving me a headache to look at. I don't understand the extending the range issue, as their freighters could reach the other side of my t
Obligatory bump + checking to see if the forum thing is still an issue in IE. EDIT: Apparently it's not.
I'm running the Game on a Dell Dimension 2400 with a 64MB Video card, 256 MB RAM, and a 2.4GHz Celeron Processor. Currently, big ships lag the game big time, especially if there's a fleet, and I have several very large ships that I'm currently using. They also have a lot of jewelry on them. Would reducing the physical size of these ships help this issue any? Or removing some of the Jewelry? Also, after I've played for about half an hour, the game starts to lag really
1.) I'd definitely pay for a Carrier and Fighters addition. By the end of the game, all the smaller ship classes are virtually obsolete compared to the Huge hulls, so I think that either fighters should get a bonus versus large ships, and large ships a penalty versus fighters, or smaller hulls should inherently have higher speed, something to keep them useful in the late game. I think Carriers would be a great way to do this, and would an another element of strategy to battles without overcomp
For some reason this isn't showing up on the front page??
Hi, I recently upgraded to the 1.11 patch, and granted, I haven't been playing the game for long, but I've encountered a pretty annoying issue. Later in the game, the AI has taken to sticking Economy starbases all around my planets. My homeworld currently has economy starbases from all of the other four major civilizations around it, and I'm having to build influence starbases at a ridiculous rate. My side of the minimap looks like a rainbow there are so many. Recently,
