I'm not sure about this, but I think you can upgrade a tiny hull to a larger hull? even if there is no more unexplored space, the scouts are still useful for pushing back the fog of war to expand what you can see, and you made a suggestion to me to use scouts as espionage craft to look at what enemy ships have on them. although you could upgrade the scout hull to something more specialized that you need or because of tech advances, but I don't know the situation in the game
smjjames
try uninstalling and then reinstalling and then patch it again? thats the only thing that I can think of that might help.
I guess so, since the demo is a limited time (3 years gametime), I can't explore very far up the weapon trees unless I use cheats to speed things up.
yea I did, to use scouts to well, scout the planets and take a look at the ships in orbit.
I've heard that they can be used for cheap fighters which can be mass produced (100 tiny hulled fighters with two subspace cannons on each one VS 10 huge battle cruisers with a few weapons on each one). also for a cheap sensor ship in a fleet so that you don't waste space on big warships with sensor pods, and for cheap scouts. although using the small hulls will give you a little more expensive scouts, but with more available space for engines to move fast.
yea, the AI in the demo usually heads for mass drivers, sometimes lasers, and often times all civs go in the same direction. well its a demo anyway and its of the 1.0X version so its just reflecting the AI settings of that version.
ok, here is my Manta class troopcarrier. I was trying to make it look manta ray shaped, but ended up with something more round than triangular and it sort of has the frontal prongs. <img src="http://img.
*err, why can't I edit my previous post???* anyway, I take back what I said about that Vulcan2 doesn't know what he/she is talking about because his medals show that he has done a good deal of games. of course though, some clarification about what he meant would be nice.
The Galactic Guidebook is actual more worthless than you think. It doesn't give every ship the ability to survey, it just reduces the cost of the Survey Module to 0, thus making it free to add as many as you want.. ok, but then what does Vulcan2's comment about the GG bieng useless for conquered planets is about when it gives NO planetary bonus
ding Brad's walkthrough? Link the link isn't working for me for some reason as it refuses to load. and I want to check it out.
if the guide book just adds the capability for all ships to survey, how is it useless for conquered planets when it doesn't do anything for your planets?
and... bounce so it appears on the board (fix this issue with the forums guys, pls)
ok, I understand that for armor, you use Armor theory against mass drivers, the missle defense theory is obvious and the deflectors against lasers, so if your enemy is specializing in mass drivers, you specialize in armor defense. but I'm not sure what the strategy is for choosing which weapon to develop against an AI? I might be getting confused between developing a weapon line which the AI has not researched much defense on and the weapon line that the AI is researching.
he's just bieng wierd I guess....
okay... what about the approval tile bonuses, how do you use those? I understand how to use the others, but I have no idea about the approval tile bonus.
what eactlay am I suppoused to do with approval bonuses? I don't understand how they are suppoused to work.
well, I could certainly allocate that soldiering bonus to something else if custom races already get that bonus and tone the social/military production to 30%. so the custom race medals are from using a (legal) custom race in the Metaverse?
so if I create a custom race in the game itself and not through .XML (although I may have to fiddle with it to fix the names I give my own star and planets), that one would be accepted? because I've seen several ppl (you included) have medals for a custom race in the Metaverse, which is why I thought I could use my idea for a custom race in there. of course though, bieng a newb about the Metaverse stuff, I don't know everything about whats allowed and whats not. I do know that cheats
yea well I can just make that one a class 0 and just RP that my race has a mining station there. and the metaverse is pretty much like a competition by submitting various saved games and all? I'm not too clear about the Metaverse and what would be bad about using a modded race with high bonuses in the Metaverse?
well either its a bug or the Carnor appeared in some isolated section of the galaxy. what size map were you doing when that happened?
/shameless bump to make it visible on the forum. edit: er, forgot about the 30 minute delay thing. eh well.
just out of curiosity, will this idea for a custom race work for Metaverse? I'm doing the demo atm, but will get the full game soon, so I don't know what exactly the abilities should be. and any race balancing suggestions are welcome heres the stats I'm thinking of and some info: Race Name: Kritii'ari Race leader: (undecided, but will be something that sounds like its from an insectoid language) Homeworld: K'
yea, definetly cool stuff anyway, I have one or two that I did in the demo that I could show here. also, how do you turn off the light reflection off of the hull and parts? thats annoying to me, especially when I do a top view and the reflection of the sun (I think thats what its suppoused to be) is obscuring the detail. I haven't seen that problem much in the screenshots in here. A
