Is this patch tested for balance?
Yes.
How do I see what are the changes in this patch?
There's a folder that contains all the change longs. But honestly, there's so, so many I wouldn't bother. Play and get a feel for it is what I recommend.
Should I
Fantastic. Okay, what's the consensus? We about ready to make this available via Steam you think?
I'd say so, yes.
You should check out the community update . It fixes that and a whole bunch of other things, and I think the tech tree looks nicer?
That and the fixed EXE makes for one hell of a game.

Hello there. APT has been made redundant by the community update (CU). I recommend you use the CU instead. The latest version of the CU is a massive improvement on the original game and APT. Regards, M. Author of APT 1.0/2 Community Update member.
I already installed the experimental version of the trade window you posted few days ago, should I upgrade anyway?
No need. The only new bit is the trade window.

Everyone. Thanks for the feedback. Option B it is. Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2lsqlq8mnn17zl0/Community%20Update%20V6.0.2.zip?dl=0 This version allows a player to trade planet but AI planets are no longer available. I've updated the manual as well.
would it be possible to add a race selection button to the tech tree so you can see what techs the ai players have based on what you know so far from the tech report screen?
We can't. Such a chance will have to be done by Stardock.

Glad you like it.
I always hated to get the complete list of my opponents planets available on the diplomacy screen.
Same here :)

Here's another experimental version of the trade window. Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/n8w3236ewhsn8du/TradeWnd_NoAIPlanetTrade.dxpack?dl=0 In this version the player side's of the screen displays planets but the AI's side doesn't. This means you can offer planets in trade or peace offerings but you can't trade them back or buy them.
Surrendering planets as part of a war reparations agreement should probably still be allowed though.
Hmmm... Well I suppose I could restore the players ability to trade with planets.

Here's an experimental version if the Trade window. The planet trade list's been moved out of screen and the tech list uses the additional space dynamically. Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cd3fuo8acdozgjr/TradeWnd.dxpack?dl=0 Simply place this file in the \Community Update\Screens\ folder. Presto, no more planet trading.
Buying planets is NOT ... sold separately.
Wouldn't it be simpler to just remove planet trading altogether? I mean, who in their right mind would give away a whole planet? I might be able to "remove" the planet trade screen from the Trade Window. That means players will have no access to it but the AI can still demand planets as tribute.

@ abelisari While playing the Terrans I tried to buy a planet from the Torians after 2 game years. They demanded 160.000 credits. You can't afford that.

Concerning buying up planets. I ran some tests. Small Galaxy. Three opponents. Cakewalk. CTRL-U to uncover map. CTRL-L to assign colonies. Here's what I found. Terrans: Buying up planets as the Terrans is doable. A planet with 0 population cost me ~670 bc when buying from the Altarians. Thalans: I tried buying up a planet as the Thalans. I couldn't do it. Drath: The Drath have great diplomacy but despite that one planet cost me nearly e

When you guys are ready, I'd like to put together an opt-in beta patch for GalCiv II on Steam with our consolidated efforts. This okay with you guys?
Hey there.
