I get this on very rare occasions. I didn't consider the ship moving so I loaded my most recent autosave. I'm glad I read this, I'll definitely try that next time [e digicons][/e]

I agree with Noctilucus. Sometimes the AI will intentionally not construct buildings on a planet, most likely due to financial constraints such as production and/or maintenance costs.
Recently I've been playing ToA with medium maps on "painful" with 5 civs. In each of my last three games, between 1-3 of the other civs have not build a single warship. Then some other warmongering AI declares war on one of the defenseless AIs and a slaughter ensues... ... until I intervene. I have discovered that I can trade my ships to the defenseless AI for virtally all of their money, techs and, in some cases, all of their planets too!
I
One of the first interesting posts I've seen around here on that topic, well done, especially bringing up the fact that most of the strange AI behaviour could be the result of the technology scaling!
Thank you [e digicons]B)[/e] I'm glad I was able to shed light on the issue in a post that was not too boring to fully read heh.
after quite a bit of tech diversification, most of the cheap technologies are gone so any scaling

I finally have enough of a handle on what I think is going on here conceptually to warrant me creating a post. Hopefully Frogboy will glance at this so I'll strive for brevity. In regard to the tech costs increasing, I call it "scaling" which is a doubling of the research cost of weapon and invasion technologies. Nothing else scales, including defense, which I found interesting. It appears to happen to all races, so it is not tech tree-specific. Nor is it specific to a p

Gifting wouldn't really lower it much, because the score is calculated using the integral of the graph line for each scoring portion (military, population, tech) etc. This means the total area under each curve, then modified based on how many turns it took, what type of victory is achieved, difficulty level, and galaxy size. So I guess do a cake walk tiny galaxy, do jack the whole time, tech victory gives lowest modifier and rare habitable planets and see what you get.

This sounds mad cool. Is there a way I could dl this off you, or is it just set up on your PC? Also, how much work does it take to set this sort of thing up? I'd love to build my own universe like this.

hahahaha. I was going to say that happiness was 2 chicks at the same time, but what you said was plenty funny as is. This happened to me twice today btw. The planets I snagged weren't as insane as yours, but still worthy steals.

Oh and one more thing. I LOVED Mass Effect. LOVED it. (the PC version). However, that being said, the "Bringing Down the Sky" Expansion made me hate mass effect and its developers. The game ran beautifully until i loaded that stupid pointless piece of crap Addon that required the patch to play. After the patch, the sound was super glitchy regardless of what settings i tried, what drivers i used, and im certainly not buying new hardware because THEY screwed it up. So now

After reading many replies, I have to throw in for MOO3. I followed that game's development like a stoner followed the Dead in the 80's. Every minute tidbit that came out, I was frothing at the mouth over. When it came out, I played it for maybe 3 hours before I got too bummed out and stuck it in a drawer somewhere. When I randomly came across GC2 a month after it came out while in Brest Buy, I began playing it and it was as if the crashed and burned moo3 had risen from

Ok I just finished my first all abundant huge galaxy. Best game I ever played. I was several orders of magnitude more powerful in every aspect than I ever have been. My score was 128,000. Considering how much ass I kicked, I was hoping for 200k or more. A tad frustrating considering how many hours I put in, but I learned a few things and I have a couple Q's. Part of what I screwed up was maximizing my "Front end of the curve" in regard to military power. Not sure how many points this

You know Chuck, I was thinking BS myself before I personally did it. Not on a gigantic (Yet), but I've done tiny up to and including Huge. It takes practice and fairly precise methodology, but it can be done my friend. Feel free to try. There's a monster thread dedicated to it and several genius players that are more than happy to provide info.
