Do everything as early in the game as possible, and you will see a nice jump in your scores.
Anyone that has banged out a sick scoring game can not say enough to emphasize this. I took it to heart and started making combat ships earlier, even though they were kinda limp. But get on the board early, and I saw a noticeable increase in my mil score at the end of the game. And congrats on the win!! Start up a new one and slaughter some more :D

I got it about 3 weeks ago. You gotta do all races that existed in DL and perhaps custom. But you can play those races in any expansion. I did my last 2 in TA and I got the medal. It's a sexy medal. Green is my favorite color ;D

All the people shown on the web page are girls. Is it a girls-only college? If not, and there are tons of gamer chicks, let me be the first to say giggity giggity gooooo!
Or a UP event that all races put X amount of money into the pot for a celebration...
Oh my god you're right. I fail. I've seen that UP event a ton but I've never seen its resulting boost, even if I win it. Just never looked I guess...

1.) Leasing is when you choose the "purchase" option for a building or ship, and instead of the full price pre-selected option, you choose one of the three options below it that has a reduced initial cost, but with a per turn payment for X amount of weeks. For diplomacy, I think you're referring to Tribute. I know AI's can pay tribute as I've seen the Galactic News message indicating it, but I don't believe a player can give or receive per turn or per year tribute. The only way this occurs is if

Terror Stars have only one use as far as I see, and even this is of dubious quality: You get an empire-wide 50% morale boost for a certain amount of time when you have one. I'm not sure how long it lasts, or if blowing up stars can make it go away. All I know is that it gives the bonus. When you check a planet's approval and it shows the break down, it says "+50% from other sources" and this apparently is terror star.

Yeah Mac I think you're right. In my game last night, The Arceans took out the Snathi, and very soon after, this event happened to them.
I can recall off-hand is that the race specific economic buildings didn't auto-upgrade. Merchant Emporiums I believe?
This is because the Merchant Emporium isn't an upgrade to the lower structures. It is a one per planet separate improvement to be used along with the other lower ones. My guess with espionage bonuses are they reduce the time it takes to go up to each sequential intelligence level, and increase the chance to steal technology. That's about all

8 Replies 33,561 Views

If your intelligence level on them is Advanced, you will have a random chance to steal tech from them each turn, even if you have no spies active on their planets. As far as intelligence levels below Advanced, I have stolen technology in those cases, but I did have active spies, which I think is required to steal em. As far as I've seen, stealing techs is some pretty rare shit. I don't even think about it when I play. Then on the off chance it happens, I'm pleasantly surprise
One thing that I've noticed will trigger this event is conquering minor races. My observation has been that conquering two minor races in a relatively short time span is a sure fire trigger.
I had conquered one minor race, and had the Arceans declare war on me. That was it. Dystopic, you mean that if I sell my declaration of war on someone to someone else, I can avoid these dumb events AND generate profit? I could kiss you. Wait... Hug you.

8 Replies 8,365 Views

It's not a mega event. At lower difficulties I would barely acknowledge its occurrence. But at Obscene or suicidal, it is so irritating I want to quit the game. The event is the "A secret meeting blah blah blah threat blah blah the war has expanded." I'm always the one that gets boned by it. I wasn't even doing that well one game. Statistically I was 4th. I was friendly with the top 3 races and this idiotic event caused all 3 of them to declare war on me. My hatred of this event burns

8 Replies 8,365 Views

At higher difficulties (not sure which one it starts on), the AI's do indeed research Xeno Ethics and pick an alignment. I was very curious about this same thing and it was answered randomly in a game I was playing when I checked a race's stats. And I'm pretty sure that each race invariably chooses the alignment that they are already set up to be. i.e. Korath, Korx, Drengin choose evil, Torians, Iconians choose good, Thalans, Arceans choose neutral. The way you can tell if
But the manual says that minor races don't expand or factor into victory conditions. I wouldn't know, because I've never played with them before.
Minor races don't expand, in that they do not ever construct colony ships to send out to create additional colonies. However, apparently as we have learned, if they are given a colony ship, they will use it for its intended purpose of colonization, thereby expanding in an uncharacteristic and roundabout manner.
Another OT question about: Karma. What in the heck is it???
In the bottom left corner of each comment, there is a thumbs up symbol. This is the karma icon. When someone does/says something helpful, funny, for whatever reason u want that makes u wanna give them karma, click on it for whichever comment u want to give it to them for. Then type in what it tells u and bang u gave em karma.
If you sell it to a minor race, they will start colonizing like you wouldn't believe!!! It's just crazy!!!
I tested this. I sold 3 colony ships to the Paulos and they colonized planets with them. I have a screen shot but I'm too lazy to figure out how to put it on here.
If you sell it to a minor race, they will start colonizing like you wouldn't believe!!! It's just crazy!!!
Is there any validity to this? A minor race will colonize another planet? Have you witnessed this? If so, I find this hilarious and would like to do it.

I'm registered on the TOE website. :D I'm set up under my character name Explosivo, which is the name I wanted for this, but it was taken so I used the first thing that came to mind...

Yeah I think they should get some meaty untradable structures or +% bonuses to econ. They're supposed to be this get rich or die trying cash-whore powerhouse. They never seem to be anything but run of the mill. I love the concept of them, but they really don't ring my bell how they currently exist.

I think this all boils down to a few key points: 1.) Chicks play games of all genres, and this trend will only go one direction: Up. 2.) Even a girl that isn't that cute scores big points with me if she plays games, especially ones that I also play. If she is cute, then all the better. 3.) If you are cute, feel free to make pics available. Like Hellchick, more pics of you in your dancy outfit. That certainly couldn't hurt your site traffic. 4.) I like playing
