I really like the new TA expansion, but I was hoping that something would be done about the really bad mechanics for creating and defending star bases. The current system under rates the benefits star bases provide, and makes them far to clumsy and expensive to upgrade and defend. A couple of suggestions that would make the game more realistic and star bases more valuable would be to allow the game to provide a constructor ship to establish the star base, but instead of having t

I notied the other night, if I go into the planetary management screen and decide to puchase a social project I can purchase one after the other on the same planet, in the same turn, as long as the money holds out. I think you are only allowed to purchase one social project per turn per planet, but this circumvents that.
I have uninstall the entire GC2 dir and DA dir and TA directory cleared the folders left over except for the sig.bin files. Used SDC to reinstall everything (took a while, even at 988 KB) and as soon as I start up the game the string not found errors are all over the game. I have enclosed the debug error file below. Hope this can help you solve what is going on here as this is a great expansion and I really would like to play a game all the way through. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Yes, I did all of the steps as far a s uninstalling the game and deleting the folders. Downloaded the game through SDC and started a new one. Same issues in the same places.
I have multiple instances of string not found in various screends throughout TA. I have uninstalled and deleted the folder you specified, reinstalled and still have the same problems in the same screens. I have taken screen shots of the problem screens for your viewing pleasure but I can't see how to load these to this page.
Multiple "String not found" errors in the "Options" Main menu screen, and one more in the shipyard screen, second button from left. This was also present in the previous beta. I would also see it show up when multiple social projects were completed. It would show as a green icon on the main screen with a link back to the last custom designed ship.
I downloaded and installed the new beta recently and have noticed everytime I fight a fleet action with the Koranth clan two things happen in this sequence: Enemy ships are invisible in the combat screen, but damage point are being displayed and when the fleet battle finishes the game crashes. This happens everytime. I have not had a problem until the recent beta and then only with the Koranth clan fleets. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game to no success. Running the latest N
I am playing a huge game currently and am down to the Koranth Clan and my Terran Alliance. In an effort to slow down ship production on certain planets, I decided to destroy the Koranth Clan mining bases supporting those planets. After I destroyed them, they still show the lines signify resources flowing to the planet? Is there something I don't know about here? Also, I tried to negotiate a peace treaty, and since I was winning I was going to make them pay. I then noticed they have the same amo
Finally got it to update. Go to the Stardock Icon and click run as an Administrator and it will update.
Same here
I am having the same problem. Tried to update the latest bets and I am getting access denied.
I agree. I hate that event. It would be nice if we could overcome a mega event say by putting research money into new tech or something along those lines. It seems most events can be overcome such as the jagged knife, and others by invading and reclaiming the planets. It is only fair that we should be given a way to overcome this speed issue through research. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/s
I just want to say that I love this game and what you guys have done to improve it so far, but one thing I wish you would fix, is the annoying tendancy of the civilization manager's lists to reset to the top when ever I am buying or building a social project or building a ship. This gets really annoying if you have more planets than can be displayed on one screen. Everytime I use the quick build feature when I click done the civilization manager goes back to the top of the list and I have to scr
does it to me too when I reply to an e-mail from the stardock team.
I too have exactly the same problem. I just loaded the new 94(b)003 and still have the problem. I have enclosed the debug error file and will save the save game file to send in to stardock.Debug Message: Version v1.80g Twilight of the Arnor beta 4 last updated on: Fri Jan 4 13:25:11 2008 Debug Message: Checking DX Version. I have exactly the same problem with my game. Game freezes after one ship attacks another ship orbiting a planet. I can move around but the attacking ship immediately goes to auto pilot and will not attack another ship in orbit even though it has moves left. Only way around it is to quick save and restart. I have enclosed the debugg error file here since smart exception doesn't run correctly on my Vista box. Debug
Same exact problem on mine.
Same problem here. Getting a lot of crashed when autosaveing and in the TOA beta it crashes when i try to acess the planet governor.
I am seeing the exact same error as above. It usually occurs during an autosave or if I try to manually save the game. System locks up and I get an out of memory error. If remember, it seems like this was a problem in an older version of DA and GCII. I am running Vista Ultimate 32 with all upgrades, 4 GB of DRAM, and a 6 GB page file. So I don't see how I can be "out of memory". I tried loadding this to smart exception but it also fails under Vista. Any thoughts? <a href="https://www.st
I think I have discovered a new bug with the autoNav feature in Dark Avatar. I have been experiencing numerous crashes when I would attempt to set an Auto Nav point. I was able to duplicate this problem everytime and as soon as I re-enabled it the game crashes returned. To duplicate the bug go to the options section and enable the "remove autonav with left mouse click option" Set auto nav points for the test ships. Then go to the main screen and open up the Ships/Planets list. Click on t
I am having the same problem. Games continually crash during the sutosave. Same time, same place, every game. I have seen in the forums that this build is very stable and does not crash alot. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. This game crashes constantly, especially when playing a gigantic map. Reminds me of the same problem they had with Dread Lords. The memory usage is incredible. I have watched a game use over 2 GB of RAM and 98% of the cpu cycles just before it decides to crash
Had the same thing happen to me. The serial number they e-mailed me was not the serial number on the jewel case. I don't know where it came from.
I have exactly the same problem. I get an out of memory error and then the game crashes when I try to save a game or it is autosaving. The autosave file shows 0KB. I have 2GB of Ram and a 4 GB pg file with latest nVidia drivers and my system is not overheating. When I am loading a saved game it can take up to 10 minutes. Task manager shows the Gav2civ.exe file counting up to 1.9 GB of ram with 100 % usage of the CPU cycles. Running latest beta of Galciv2. This is the only game I have problems tr
I am having the same issue as you. The game take almost 10 miutes to load a saved game. My system has 2GB of Ram and a 4 GB Pg File. Task manager shows me during the load game that it is using 1.9 GB of Ram then after loading drops to 212 MB. This game has been randomly crashing ever since I got it. Now it crashes consistantly when I try to save a game. Get the out of memory error metioned above. You guys have a serious memory leak I think. My vido drivers are Nvidia Gforce 2 6600 with 256 MB of
