Good ideas but only if they're optional and easy to turn off.

Not to hijack, but how do I learn more about Kyro's mod?
LOL Oz
Nobody cares about your opinion. Learn that. Wheeloffire, nobody likes a troll. Learn that.
And now that I re-read this original reply to the post, what the hell is in here that invokes so much sarcastic idiocy from some of you? I asked two general questions which were met with more hostility than the allies on D-Day. Nuff said... I have to agree... He had an opinion, which could have been examined without attacking him. I don'
Maybe I was wrong to say that there was anything that needed work... It would indeed seem that every pick has its uses... although maybe not as "obviously" strong, it can be used in a way that makes it well worth its points. I am still a very new player so I have to say that this has been a very enjoyable thread to read the responses of Thanks all... I'm looking forward to trying out some new str
I could see a scientifically created nebulae or something, with sufficiently advanced science, being a player-made obstacle. It wouldn't really be a fence per se, but just a region that is blocked off... of course this would have to be cost-prohibitive to avoid being cheese, but at the same time one can't really imagine it being useful as such... so perhaps it can randomly happen like, for instance, a constructor has a 0.001% chance to have some sort of accident that causes a nebulae or somethin
Well, this thread has certainly been enlightening, and I am glad to see that there are a lot more options than I first had assumed. However, I do still seem to see that while there's many good choices, that does nothing about the choices that you'd be dumb to choose. I hope that Stardock considers a way of making all the options useful, at least to the point that they'd be "good" choices for at least one strategy.
I've been reading a lot of posts lately, and how there has been a shift from a largely varied pool of advice saying to take this or that, to the point that everyone with any experience agrees that 70% population growth is a must-have civ ability. I would ask that Stardock please fix this. This isn't how your game, or any game, should be... we as players should not feel pigeon-holed into a single choice because its an incredible nerf to do anything other than the recognized "best" choice
Oddly, I'm running AdBlock on 1.5 firefox with no problems. Not sure what the difference is, seeing as how I've never whitelisted a thing with AdBlock.
I'm definately interested in seeing a clarification of what this is about
What's really funny to me is the absolute, unwavering loyalty I'm feeling to this company I guess that's what happens when gamers make games for gamers I feel the same way. Stardock, you guys know how to cater to your fans, and for that you have won many l
o yea the Infinite Improbability drive could be a new tech for engines Perhaps there would be a way to make it act as though at the end of every turn, the ship has the effect of going through the wormhole anomaly? Would that be possible?
So if you are the federalist and control 50% of the senate, you get just 10% bonus to the economy, if you control 70% you get 15% and so on. While I agree that it could be fun to make the elections and various parties more interesting, perhaps it would be better to make sure that it doesn't become a "must have almost 100% approval or I'm penalize
It's not that simple, as such a thing would have to vary from race to race. With the Drengins for example, it could quite possibly be the opposite: your popularity would fall as long as you're NOT at war with someone else! That would be a wicked cool twist... to have several different civilization "preferences" that would help give flavor to the
My guess is he meant he was about to download v1.31 update In any case, I'm getting this a lot too... seems to happen randomly, both during my turn and during AI turn, and its getting to be quite annoying. Happens far too much! Anyone else experiencing this mysterious crash to desktop bug? (For me it only dumps me to desktop, nothing else freezes up..)
OMG! We are the Korx! HAHAHAHA that is hilaroius Touche'. I confess, I just posted this off the tp of my head, no
Well, the 35% bonus verses PQ bonus was an academic curiousity, I'd definately be pleased as punch to get either. It just occurred to me that I had previously always considered the PQ bonus to be the "definitive" best event, but then wondered if others were better situationally. In any case, thank you for all the answers I've received so far. I love to learn all about this wonderful game!!
First of all, I've a question about planet specialization. I've heard from various places that it no longer works in v1.31. Is this true? If so, could someone explain what changed within the game mechanics to make it so? (I'm assuming the morale changes are a large part of the problem?) Do they make it so that it's prohibitive or impossible to make a few economic planets, thus forcing each planet to have enough population to help support the economy? Is there any "formula" for well roun
The sooner we can start thining out these American whiners, the sooner we can get back to being the rightful lone World Superpower and not feel guilty about it. If you don't like it in the US then move. One less idiots free
Yes, I find luck to be an amazing steal at only one point. Precursor starships, events, planet bonuses, anomalies.. seems like everything is affected by this, and in a very noticeable way. Play 10 games without it and 10 games with it, and I think anyone will notice a pretty big difference.
Chavez is a Communist. Communism doesn't work. Chavez is a Socialist. Its different. And whether he is truly a socialist, or another authoritarian dictator using an "extreme left" government as a guise for his regime (aka China & USSR) is yet to be seen. He *has* started many initiatives to help his country's poverty, to prevent starvation, to ra
Edit: omg, I'm a thread necromancer Haha, I should have kept reading instead of having the overpowering desire to respond to that one post... especially considering that's *exactly* what happened last time. Well, my opinions are more expressed in this recent post, so I'll leave it as is if nobody minds. <t
Now, I only made it to about mission 3 or 4 before I quit in frustration and began playing sandbox exclusively, so if this actually does happen further on into the campaign I apologize. Ditto, and I second your request for the Dark Avatar campaign to not be so much like playing a gimped version of sandbox. I believe it could have been done a
Maybe some of you forum veterans could go a little easy on the carrier threads... its a cool idea, and so if you're new to GalCiv2 and you're like "hey that'd be a great addition" and you find these forums, that might be one of your first posts... never noticing that the issue is dead. So maybe a polite response explaining (or even linking to the post) that the devs decided against implementing any sort of carriers would be better served than the kinda rude responses that I've noticed?
