I want an aircraft carrier!!!!!

I want an aircraft carrier!!!!!

Okay, so I've been reading what everyone wants for the expansion or even GC3, or even in an update so I'll add my two cents worth. I want to see a ship class that is a carrier vessel, able to transport a contingent of fighters anywhere in the galaxy at breakneck speed, once proper engines are researched of course. I know this really wouldn't be a necessary addition, but it would be really cool, not to mention adding some new strategies to the game. What do any of you think?

We're not doing carriers in GalCiv II. I don't think it would be fun, I don't think it would add much to the game.

Ouch.

frogboy vs the community, how nice...

Its not us that is going to lose money in the long run.

Ohhh, and yes, they are fun on other games, and they would OWNZ on this game.
Sorry, but I live in America, Freedom of Speech and all you know, just cuz the developer doesnt like it, doesnt mean other ppl dont...

Maybe he expects us to hand him a game file editor with intuitive UI on a silver platter?
Thats exactly what I'm asking for---wouldn't it be cool to design your own custom campaign? Complete with event triggers

I doubt very seriously if he, or anyone for that matter, is going to lose money over carriers, or even lose any sleep over the issue itself. Seems like from what I have read on these forums, for every 1 thing someone hates, there are 10 things people love. That is what makes the money and allows for a comfortable nights sleep. Not Carriers.

Yeah well you can say whatever you want, but youve been trying to convince this guyz to not spend anytime on develoment on carriers, discouragement at every corner..

I have not Sir.
Go back and read some of my posts.
Really, I could debate the question of carriers either way. It really makes no difference to me one way or the other. Would they be fun? Sure. Game Altering? Yeah. Bring in New strategies for game play and destroy old ones? You betcha. Are there other more important features the team could be developing to make the game even more fun than if you added carriers? More than likely.

Again, I care less if they add them or not, I will play the game for the game, not for carriers, for cloaking devices, for multiplayer, or to see Papa Smurf with a shotgun hunting the Energizer Bunny!

Regardless, how would you figure that carriers wouldn't add much to the game. I guess there's no reason for them in any sci-fi rpg, vid game, movie, or book that they actually appear in. Or, maybe they are so useless that our modern forces are only using holograms of those aircraft carriers to scare their enemies. Like I posted elsewhere Stardock guys, it's your game, do what you want with it. Opinions are allowed to be voiced though, and it seems that more people want carriers than don't. Period. And for those who don't want them, why not? And if you're tired of reading about them, don't read the post. Or is this YOUR site?

But when it comes right down to it stardock has made one hell of a game---ever since I've played this game I haven't even touched another game--And I've never seen such devotion to a game from it's devopers---I have to say hands down this is the best game I've ever played!!! Thanks for supporting and making such a great game stardock!!! I can't wait to see what u have in store for us next!!!!

Add a space dairy! With cheese militarization! And imagine the invasion tactics - mini-cheeses, cheese disruption, cheese drivers...

And cheese modules for the starbases! Starbases built entirely of cheese! But a hard cheese, one that could be airtight. A cheese with a rind, perhaps...maybe an aged Parmesan...

I love cheese! Cookies, too...

Then u would have a game starring the green bay packers!!!!

That's just you. I've gone back to Wing Commander since playing this game. And I'm tempted to start up MoO2 again, as well as Hegemonia: Legions of Iron and Homeworld 2.

Only reason I currently have GC2 running on my laptop behind me right now is because I decided I'd go back and actually finish the campaign, and maybe get at least one Metaverse game out of the way.

And there is an edit feature on this forum. If its not working, try relogging in or something. I know I had a bit of trouble trying to get the Edit feature to work when I switched over to using my desktop for this forum (I started out on the laptop, but I need it free for playing of games).

I was addicted to the Rome Total War game before I got GalCiv2 ...
I have played NOTHING but this game since I got it.

Stardock isn't just a game coorperation, GalCiv2 is not their main source of income.

Also I live in America, but this site isn't America, and America doesn't controll what game devs put in games, its a game not a democracy.

Frogboy, while I do respect your opinion on Carriers, I do disagree with it (Everyone can tell me that it doesn't matter right here:____________________). If done correctly, Carriers would be fun and WOULD add a lot to the game.

As to what you say about never putting carriers in, and focusing on other features, I respect and understand that, and agree with you that there are other features more important. We're not asking for a clone of another game. It wouldn't be a clone of another game.

At any rate, you saying carriers will not be in game will probably not slow down the topic that much .

Thank you guys for making such a great game, for listening to your fans, the unique way you allow for input and updates, etc and using features fans come up with. I think a majority of us understand that not ALL features we'd like will be added, and we still love the game. Again, Thank you.

As to StarDock losing money because there aren't carriers, that's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time. They won't. Not in any considerable amount. People won't be turned off a great product because of one feature.

Maybe some of you forum veterans could go a little easy on the carrier threads... its a cool idea, and so if you're new to GalCiv2 and you're like "hey that'd be a great addition" and you find these forums, that might be one of your first posts... never noticing that the issue is dead. So maybe a polite response explaining (or even linking to the post) that the devs decided against implementing any sort of carriers would be better served than the kinda rude responses that I've noticed?

Yes, its annoying to see again and again and again, but until its included in the "IMPORTANT! READ THIS FIRST" thread, don't feel like you can just be rude because someone didn't know.

Me too! I would love to see some sort of carrier vessel. I think all they have to do is make a module such as a hanger bay, it will automatically launch its own fighter squadrons and attack.
