Thanks all for the responses... What you say makes sense, as far as to why I am having such a hard time finding strategy resources, but I at least understand it now. I'll try to explore with a few more games and decide if I can come up with some better specific questions or examples and see if I can't finally get better at this wonderful game Thanks again for your responses, everyone had somet

Question: Is there any consolidated source of strategy information? I've mined the wiki but found very few actual strategies, mostly just the same info as found in the game's manual. Question: With the changes to GalCiv2 with the latest patch, what impact does this have on early game building/colonization/etc? I mean, I hate to just start repeating questions and then getting the same variety of responses and just add yet another thread that is briefly helpful but then

I have been playing GalCiv2 off and on since the game was released but never got very good at it. I feel like its mostly that I'm still not really sure how to finesse my economy into flourishing outside of beginner difficulty. I've checked many times hoping to find some sort of comprehensive strategy posts like I can easily find at civfanatics (my favorite Civ fansite) for Civ4. Why is it so hard to find the same for GalCiv2? Am I totally overlooking some stickied posts or something?<br

Luck can be mega useful, especially if you pair it with Universalist. Lots and lots of good "lucky" events/anomalies/bonuses.

Definately... as previous posters have said, the way I play is pretending that I'm actually playing a "real world" situation, writing history basically. These events make the game a thousand times more fun for me because you can't predict them, they have huge impact, and generally just make things more interesting. Having them optional is nice in case I want to play a cold blooded game of min-max domination, but I would really really really enjoy having them as options. I still

I actually run both Grisoft AVG and AdAware, and check regularly. For Real Video, I use an emulator, not their actual player, and its totally clean of spyware/malware. My system specs: AMD Athlon 64 FX-53 processor, 2.40 GHz, 1 gig of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra video card (using 8.1.9.8 driver), Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS (using 5.12.6.402 driver). My harddrive is 10k rpm with 16mb cache and has plenty of free space (over 20 gigs). It could be my drivers, I think

Are your really strongly defended starbases also equipped with decent weaponry? They say the best defense is a strong offense, and it really helps to destroy those enemy ships instead of giving them free reign to put holes in your armor, no matter how thick it is.

And 100% taxes is stupid and unrealistic. Its called Communism. 100% tax rate would represent the government providing the services that normally people would use their money for, including food, entertainment, houses, vehicles, and luxuries; everything. Besides that, I think people can get used to anything. I *would* like to see mor

I have been having some sound issues ever since I updated to v1.11 this morning. I first loaded it up and the sound was slightly glitchy during the screens where you choose your new game set up, race, planets, opponents, etc. This has happened before, though, so I wasn't worried... a minor annoyance, but no big deal. (The sound just sort of skips a little bit, every so often.) However, this glitchy skipping of the sound carried over into the actual game once I started it, which had ne

Luck is huge, totally worth the point. Everything from better anomaly finds to Lucky Rangers and the Precursor Corvettes, to a small bonus in combat, and lets not forget the increased chance of avoiding bad random events and having good ones occur to you!! It is sooo totally worth that one point. Creative, on the other hand, seems to either not be working or not have much of an impact compared to the point you spend on it. Luck is worth the point, i.e. its not wasted. Creat
