That's very lame if it's as you describe. I got the survey email but didn't open it, so I don't know personally. And now I just opened it. It's just as misleading as you say. I'd bet it's an oversight. It could be that a couple of people were involved with the promotion/survey and didn't communicate properly. Yes, a coupon that's only good for 2 weeks, after you've filled out a survey, is very cheap. Not that we should expect anything for free, but if we're doing a service for Sta

Mumble, check out the "Metaverse League Results and League Ladder" thread as linked to in Neilo's OP of this thread. It lays out the game format. The round started yesterday.
Galactic Privateer: I've found that it works much better in the latest DA build. No more AI ships chasing protected freighters. And the AI does build it now, quite often in fact. At least, it does build it on higher difficulties. It might not have the resources to be able to prioritize it on lower difficulties.
If you guys are all young you can be known as the diaper dandies. It's not as bad as it sounds, if you follow college basketball at all
Hey fellow ex-crack-commandos! I loved it how my plan came together!!! I just posted a score of 8120. I'm not sure if that's a good tech victory or not. Of course, I'm sure the settings will change the scores quite a lot, and I have no idea what goes into scoring a tech victory. I'd think it's not much more than RP spent, but who knows? Anyone have any idea? Well, no matter the answer, at least I can wait awhile to see some other scores and determine if I want to replay.
DethAdder, that picture has me totally psyched! In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team. It's sort of hard to see them going for a tech victory,
'The A-Team'? Well, the A-Team did have 4 members. Who's Murdock?
Sounds good. Could someone tell me when we have a thread at the Core? I'll have to register myself.
Hello fellow team A members! These settings will be pretty tough for me at first. I usually do play medium maps, but I've never even gone for a tech victory! Any advice would be appreciated. Good luck to everyone in this new league.
Bingjack, thanks for the heads-up. I purchased it on Steam (it's now $8 instead of 7, BTW), and I would also recommend it. The graphics are out of this world, and I can play it with no glitches on a rather old lap-top. So, the engine they used was ingenious for this type of game. I've had experiences with it where I'm just thinking how fabulous the visuals are, sometimes even forgetting to worry about tactics because I'm so overwhelmed by the visuals. And the whole focus of the game is on t
So far I have experienced the opposite. Economy treaties are more valued than research treaties. Maybe it depends on the difficulty (playing on normal), or how you are doing in comparison to the AI. In my experience, the AI values econ treaties as almost worthless in the early game, but they value them above anything else in the late game. So, if you save yours up or get it back after a war, it can be worth thousands of BC.
With a research treaty you get some extra RP's per turn, and extra money with an econ treaty. It's not much, though, and I'd say it's mostly good for establishing stronger diplomatic ties than for getting extra research or money. In my experience, the research you get is just a few points per turn/per treaty, and you definitely don't get any free techs with it. I'm pretty sure that when you give out your research and econ treaties, you don't actually lose any research or money per tur
CornhuskerMac, not that there's anything wrong with using an existing character (I am, too)... but if you start GalCivII from the shortcut and click the "Update Serial" button, it will show you your current serial number. You can even copy it and paste it into a text file for your records. Ah, thanks, that's good to know.
The nano-recorder research bonus says that it's civ-wide, and that's been my experience though I haven't actually paid that much attention to it. What is the tech that unlocks them, anyway? I seem always to forget it. I think the speed dampening will drive all ships besides your own down to a minimum of 1 move/week.
I'm in and I'll be using my character "Bastard". It's just too much of a hassle to make a new character for this. I tried, and it asked me for my serial number, which is god only knows where.
Crazyoid looks a lot like Starscape, which is a very fun game in itself. You can check it out here: WWW Link
I'm really not feeling the "No Super Abilities" rule though Nelio. The only way to make it fair is to either make everyone play DL (which I am against) or relax a bit. You can turn Super Abilities off, but what about Asteroids? The Korath clan? They are different games and need to be treated as such - both should be allowed, but try not to clamp down on how people choose to play quite so much This is also the biggest sticking-point for me right now.
I'm pretty new to the game, so didn't realize this was bad form. I like neutral for the Morale (more taxes, more pop) and soldier bonus, for invasions. I guess I missed where evil gets an econ bonus, I don't remember seeing that in the description. And as far as better weapons, weaponry was the least of my issues in that game, I was already wiping up the opposition Thanks for the tip, though, I'll look at it more closely in my next game. So
Well, the Drengin had no points when I started this game. You played Drengin as neutral? Why? You can have easy 100% econ bonus, plus awesome weapons bonuses with evil!!!! Why ever play Drengin as neutral???!!! However, they've fired their shot. Evil is always best!!!! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/C
I now believe fully that the Iconians are the WORST race by far!!!! Nevertheless, they have fired another shot: Character: Bastard Race: Iconians Years: 6 Dif: Maso Victory: Military Size: Medium Alignment: Very Good Score: 23100 v1.61DA 7/1/2007
i see good and evil choices as having both good and bad consequences. So the fact that good choices always have nothing but bad side effects is dumb, equally so for evil choices. Yes, I'd make one of the top priorities of changes to the game to be making good a viable option. As it now stands, it only really helps the Altarians, because they receive aid from other good civs (if there even are any of them) in the event of war. But how does it help the I
My whole point is this.... once you pay the price your all squared up with the house, only if you do somthing wrong again then your past record will make judges less linient.... and so it should be with stardock forum. No disrespect to those who decide on banning people, but I entirely agree with Mystik on this point. However, I don't expect that anyone who is banned will pay for the game again just to get back on the forum. If he/she does, that shows
2)There is a plaque event which the AI does not respond well to - giving you easy victory. Yes, it seems as if even the greatest minds of our age have not discovered how to program a computer to brush after every meal
I seem to add scores only to the lowest race at any point! Just bad luck, I guess. Character: Bastard Race: Arcean Years: 5 Dif: Maso Victory: Military Size: Medium Alignment: Neutral Score: 21350 v.1.61DA 6/28/2007
I'm putting my name in as an interested party. Neilo, I like the system you've come up with. A little complex, but as long as someone understands it . . . I'd really only object to any system if it seemed to include some inherent unfairness. That said, the point system based on results and not on game score appeals to me a lot.
