Or trinary for that matter...
Profound Darkness
So far from what I read I realy like the idea of a module (probably big) that would allow all tiny/small ships in the same fleet to share it's speed and range statistics. On top of that that ship wouldn't need sensors since you could stick the sensors on a 'fighter' craft (like awacs not sure if I got that right). Makes a bit more sense too than having a module that has a full load a fighters all the time as those fighters would have to be built somewhere and a carrier ship
Generaly speaking I have had nothing but problems with driver updates from the windows update page. I actualy take the time to find the drivers page for my hardware on the manufacturers site (can be a chore sometimes but not so much with the big 2 video card makers). Laptops are likely to be much more the chore...
after some looking it seems that the values for each of the choices (at least for techrate) is stored in the executable. I am not 100% without opening galciv2 in a debugger though and if it is in there then you would have to change the code rather than edit a data file; not TOO hard if you know what your doing, or have access to the source code. Since Stardock isn't some crummy release a game and walk away company and the fact that they actualy listen to their customers, pe
A few tidbits: 1> A way to launch multiple ships from the ship yard. EX: click on ship and it highlights, click another ship and now there are 2 ships highlighted... hit launch and all highlighted ships launch. This is similar to how ships in a stack behave. Best of all the bug with 2 lines of ships in the shipyard wouldn't have to be fixed: click a ship in the top row and then click a ship in the bottom row, the ship in the top row remains highlighted (works the other way too).<br
Not sure if it has any affect on gameplay but a good way to find out is to find a nice class 8 world, after the tile techs it should be class 10 or 11 and you can look up in aproval to see if you have the +10% highq bonus. Save and load the game and check approval to see if you still have the highq bonus. My bet would be no btw but thats about as far as pq number seems to matter. It's too bad pq and tiles aren't linked and if you have a higher pq ability that you can't upg
I personaly enjoy the game but would love a hotseat multiplayer option at least. As it is I and a friend take turns managing various civilizations or one person will handle implementation on the shot term while the other person watches out for long term... stuff like that. It would be nice to simply have multiple players... Games that have multiplayer, even basic multiplayer, stay on my system for a LOT longer simply from the dynamic of playing a game with friends. <b
I have gotten some commandline stuff to work. I haven't tried cheating mind you but at the end of the target line I added a space and then NOINTRO to skip the intro screen. Also for a time I had FRAMERATE with another space so I could see the render frame rate without using an external program... It's possible that it is case sensitive and that cheat may be all caps so instead of cheat try CHEAT. Thats a guess, I know that the other 2 commandline items are all caps intern
Just a side tip from seeing many other DX games crash in a similar manner. When you hear that sound (windows critical stop sound) that usualy means that a dialog box has popped up over the game. Try hitting ESC key (which is used to cancel a dialog box). You may need to hit ESC multiple times as well as tossing in a few alt-tabs to get to the dialog or subsequent dialogs and close them. Eventualy (depending on how persistent the game is with trying to recover from a big error) the
In the betas I would see a route come under attack (camera moves to watch the action) and nothing happens. After SEVERAL times of that finaly the attack would occur. It seemed to have something to do with the size of the fleet that was attacking the frieghter. With or without that Privateer building I have not seen one of my routes get removed from being attacked...
A potential possibility was that the AI noticed that it was falling behind technilogicaly so it rebalanced it's spending to catch up and surpass. I have, with few planets, suddently climbed far into a tree by not doing much of anything else so I don't see why the AI can't (and am glad if that is what it is doing). I have even spent a couple of turns switching from factories to research and then back to factories and again don't see why the AI can't...
Additionaly: It would seem that when I have multiple scouts auto exploring that they all go to the same spot even if I started their exploration at different times and locations. It would be nice if the scouts would check to see if someone else is scouting that 'area' and pick a different spot (or let me know that no new areas are within range). NOTE: I haven't verified this problem being as big as it was in the betas but it certainly seems to still be there (I have only p
Out of all of that I would love to see an UI element that tells me how many modules available/installed (much like what you see when you double click) or at least an UI element that shows how many open slots on the starbase. Also it would be nice to know how many constructors are en route to the starbase (mostly for realy big maps). Lastly multiple constructors/colony modules/troop transport modules actualy having an effect would be nice but this is just a simple would be n
Apparently hyper computers is a building (that is supposed to boost research) and would appear to be a galactic achievement (only one civ can build on only one planet). This building is apparently unlocked by researching Aereon Missile Defense which would appear to be at the very end of the missile defense tree. This is according to galactopedia btw (in case there might be something else you are curious about).
Actualy in my experience PQ has always matched build tiles (not yellow red or other tiles as well as build tiles). unless of course you have that PQ bonus skill or some other PQ bonus steps in such as one of those ethical alignment picks. I have only seen PQ bonus work properly on your home planet as well as any planets you are outright given (there was senate vote about who should colonize a new planet, I won and the planet had double the
1> Multiplayer (hotseat/lan). 2> New jewelry including some animated hull parts (engine can already handle it apparently, be nice to have that B5 ship actualy rotate the life support section). Perhapse a whole extra race that has animated hull and animated texture parts... 3> improved diplomatic options such as threats (it would be nice to offer the ai the choice between going to war with me and giving me some cash). I know they do it somet
Playing a new game under the latest beta with a racial enhancement to planet quality I noticed that the planets are not being upgraded in quality. A planet's quality is based on how many build points are available on the planet however when I colonized a Q10 planet the value of the planet was increased in the status bar (or from space screen tooltip) however there were still only 10 build squares. Usualy the build squares match quality...<b
Loving the enhancements so far... on one of the latest betas (see the debug clip) I now am unable to select build nothing in the shipyard. In the previous beta4 sometimes it would say it was building a ship and either the display would update to nothing or it would continue to say it was building a ship but no progress would be made and no ship produced when a shipyard was set to nothing. Now when I click a planet and c
IIR, there isn't a full fleged map editor yet (though it wouldn't surprise me if a community made one doesn't spring up soon). Right now, if you are playing off the betas, you should be able to create a map by hand editing the map file with a program that can read/write xml files (a common thing). To start take one of the map files and make a copy of it. You should find the maps in data\custommaps folder. Now name the new map file to
I was just fiddling around with the new patch (b3a I think) and noticed a bunch of stuff seems to be fixed (I can upgrade ships without auto removing them)... Anyway I went to 'upgrade' a ship from a custom model of a high speed survey ship to a core model constructor by clicking the ship in the standard space view and hitting the little upgrade button (1600x1200 so the small buttons realy are small). Looking at the price tag I de
Something I think would benefit is when the AI tries to make peace (eather the ally ai or the agressor ai) the ally ai makes going to peace status with the other AI's an issue. You know how you can play peacemaker with the ais, well when an ally goes for peace they should push for peace with their allies too. unless of course you were the agressor then it's just your fault if you are all alone, you could always put going to war ag
I have to say I enjoy the simplified espionage system compared with other systems where I had to handhold the unit(s) and there were counter units and counter counter units (and on and on)... Now I can just hand some credits over to some black box organization and get the results . I can understand how their isn't much in the way of backlash as it's no
actualy in the release version you aren't allowed to upgrade core designs. I just finished reading the fine manual lastnight and noted the text "... you can't upgrade any of the core designs." It would be a bonus they are adding in if they make it possible from here on out (which it sounds like they did add in when not stripping components on upgrade
Thanks, I didn't know the old design going obsolete was a mistake, though I do like the idea of keeping the old design around (so I could make several variations on a base shape via upgrade). I will see what difference having that option off when I go to upgrade a core design has (if it works as intended leaving all hardpoints intact or strips core designs just the same).
I am wondering if there is a way to update a ship design without it going to the base hull when the ship is something that was already built into the game. I would have used a forum search but there appears to be no such feature... (that or I am blind) For example I wanted to upgrade a starfury (design came with the game) and when I did that it gave me the base hull without any of the doodads that give the ship it's look. <br
