Paradox Games come to Impulse
I gave up trying to find a copy (retail) of Europa Universalis III: Complete here in Toronto. Amazon.ca doesn't list it either, so I was all set to order from amazon.com but now I may hold off a bit and see if Impulse will carry this title or at least purchase and download EU III + it's IN & NA expansions, if and when they become available.

Welcome InfernalRS ! Pull up a lazy-boy... warm milk and cookies at the ready. If I recall, I think it was GW Swicord who threw out the invite to you. Also, hat's off to Cypher for generating renewed interest in all things Meta/AltMeta(ish) and rekindling the fires of aging empires everywhere . [e classic]:congrat:[/e]
Since I think I am the only active member, that should not be too difficult.
Whoa!! Another Gerontocrat still kicking here! [e digicons];)[/e] I'm into playing Immense maps now, so it may take me awhile to finish and submit a game, roughly speaking a month or so. I submitted one back in Nov. '08 and began another almost right away in Dec. and should be finished that one soon enough. For me, score just represents a barometer

Currently playing TA 2.02 , Immense map (tough setting) and all races (9) set to intelligent. The races I've made contact with so far show the following mix: Yor - Federalists/Imperial gov. Arceans - Pacifists/Imperial gov. Drengin - War Party/Rebublic gov. Terran Alliance - Mercantile/Imperial gov. So far, things look a little more interesting and varied compared to previous games (1.96). I'm not sure (hav

I know next to nothing about Impulse and have been using SDC to update all expansions of GalCiv2 and frankly it's pretty seamless and unobtrusive, so I would hate at this point to have to switch gears and be forced to download Impulse in order to get 2.0, especially as I recall the final version was promised as a download from both SDC and Impulse with the beta being an Impulse *only* release. I'll gladly download and use Impulse as my source for updates and patches, but only upon hea
old farts tend to do a lot better when there's more than just blowing stuff up.
Well, I'm guessing old fartdom begins sometime after 40 (maybe for some as early as 30, depending on who's doing the labelling) and ten years ago I would have vehemently argued against the above statement, after all, mindless destruction and mayhem holds high status in the gaming pantheon. I do concede that I tend to like a more strategic/methodical approach to my gaming nowadays, es

From what's been rumoured, it appears that GalCivIII will not be incorporating our beloved Metaverse style system into that game... a shame really, but I wonder if there are designs to introduce such a system into the upcoming nMoM fantasy tbs game. It would be great fun to have Empire stats for that one... just think of the possibilities!
The Difficulty Medal takes the average of the difficulties and Rounds Down. (Cakewalk is = 1, Suicidal = 12) The Alignment is the same way, but takes whatever value your race had in game. That range is from 0-100. So one could play 3 games at Neutral (50) and 1 game at Evil (Pond Scum = 0) and you would get an Alignment of 37.5- definitely in the Chaotic Evil range. I haven't done testing (though I suppose I could) to see where the exact number

Hi folks. Can anyone tell me what it takes to make your difficulty meter change. I could be wrong, but is it based on an averaging system or something? I've posted 10 games so far for our empire and 5 of those have been played on "tough" with the remainder at various other levels (3 of which were on challenging), but the difficulty meter still only shows "challenging". (and yes, my character for The Gerontocracy is set as the default)

Very nice score GW . [e classic]:congrat:[/e] Thanks for sharing your experience going for the Ascension victory... very interesting. I should give it a go myself, as it is the only victory type I have yet to try for, but then again I've only just dipped my toe in the TotA ocean as it were. (now, back to finishing off my latest effort)

I've been reading everything I can about CivIV: Col since it's release. There appears to be some game issues (mechanics) upon release in this game, but the forums are almost polarized by widely opposing player reviews of the game. People either love it or hate it, it seems. Some are saying that it was a rushed release and buggy, while others concede that there are a few issues, but should be easily fixed with a sure to follow patch and that the game is
I remember a statement about the metaverse getting attention in 2.0 too... What is with that?
Yes, di55ec7ion I recall some tlc being promised for the Metaverse as well in the v2.0 update, but I can't recall what it was or even if it was mentioned in detail at all or just hinted at. Maybe someone could chime in and enlighten us further with regards to this tweak.

Speaking of which, I was wondering: did that mean Anthony made them vanish from existence, or did he just put them in some sort of alternate dimension?
I'm not sure if it was ever explained in detail what happened to people, creatures or things once they were dismissed to the cornfield, but surely it was not good, a good guess they were dead and the cornfield represented a sort of dumping ground for his experiments gone bad (think Spore

I'm somewhat glad that I invested in training spies very early on in my last game (large/abundant all/tech trading off/Tough/Krynn). I was reluctant to do so only because in TotA the economy is so tight and the need to go slow as far as spending goes had me thinking about ignoring spy spending altogether, but I simply left the slider on 1% or 2% for the longest time and just forgot about it. When my economy started to take off, I had about 15-20 spies in reserve in la
