ORANGE ALERT... ORANGE ALERT! Having watched the original airing of The Prisoner back in '67, I was naturally curious about this 2009 version. It didn't work for me at all on any level I'm afraid. I just couldn't wrap my head around this for reasons too numerous to explain. Patrick McGoohan must be turning in his grave over this one! "Be seeing you"

Nice of you to stop by ghostwes . Hope everything is going well for you. The Gerontocracy is still alive and kicking thanks to a hardcore bunch (sadly, I am not one of them). Such is life. Share your thoughts with us... what's a happenin' ?
That's a typical progression... Anyone who starts at FPS/ARCADE eventually moves toward RPG or RTS and usually the final stage is TBS and RPG.
In other words, 1. experimentation 2. misuse 3. abuse 4. addiction and dependency *Prognosis ------> Terminal*
Most of the "good" TBS games for the PC have already been mentioned. You might try to get your hands on a copy Koei's "Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI" . Mostly released for platform game sytems now, Koei did return to making a PC version after many years though mostly for the Asian market, but did release ... XI for North America as well in 2008 I believe (although difficult to find). I remember playing Koei's older games for both the Nintendo (NES),
Still, we're hanging in there at #4 on the AltMeta, mostly thanks to mightygoobi, madsko, UncleCraig, and FLP_NDRox.
Amen to that.
Good show GW . [e classic]:congrat:[/e] Shamefully, I must admit I can't even find the time to get back to a game I started almost a month ago. My time dedicated to gaming has basically come to a grinding halt. In fact, I seldom have time to check out the forums on a regular basis any more and only stumbled upon this recent addition by you only days later. Elemental looks interesting, but sadly I'm afraid I'll lag behind considerably in
Good to see you back mightygoobi . Those scores you are posting for the empire are impressive, great work! [e digicons][/e]
Sorry to hear about your troubles GW . I can sympathize, even though my circumstances differed from yours. While trying to move up a level in difficulty (painful) I became totally frustrated with the game I had started. I think i had chosen a poor game set up from the get go, rare everything, basically lots of space and little else on an Immense map. Needless to say it didn't go the way I had anticipated and soon found myself faltering big time even with multiple restarts empl
Just checking in. I thought I'd say hi and see how everyone is doing in our humble little empire. I was shocked to see that our fearless leader had fallen off the list over at the AltMeta but not really surprised considering ghostwes 's long absence from the game. I was perilously close to the abyss myself since I had not submitted a game since January of this year and my Alt scores were in free fall as it were. Anyway, I managed to submit a game recently but forced to
I can't say I've experienced that one (yet), but then again for me to see other Civs dropping spys on others is uncommon for the most part at least at "tough" difficulty (TA). Even so, most seem to be nullified after a short number of turns by the other Civ. anyway and as you say if a third party spy just happens to be on a structure for which you have incompatible tech when the flip happens, well that would seem to be a rare event, especially leaving that orhpaned spy... what are the chances

Playing as the Krynn with those fantastic morale and influence bona, then going evil and getting the MCC should be downright illegal... hehe, I love it! [e digicons]}:)[/e] This works well on gigantic or immense with abundant all and a full roster of opponents, although unlike you I find I still need to build a small "paper tiger" navy early on just to keep those pesky bullies at bay until I can research some of those mighty yellow techs. I'm trying something a little differe
1. GalCiv II: Twilight of the Arnor (v2.02) 2. Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword (v3.17) 3. Europa Universalis III: In Nomine (v3.1) GalCiv II: TA gets most of my attention, when I find the free time to play anything that is. I have the longest running track record with that particular game and seem to know it best among the rest.
I'm in the process of trying to get through one of the toughest games (TA) that I can ever recall playing so far, but probably by the time I complete it, the MV should be up and running again or at least here's hoping.
So long General Jebediah Stormcrow (CL). It was nice to have you in our empire, even if only for a short while. Best of luck to you and your future endeavors. Heed your calling! We now place a ceremonial rocker with the General`s name engraved upon it on our `Porch of Heroes`, as has been our custom in honoring past great gerontocrats gone MIA, with the understanding that no one shall rest their weary flea bitten tukis upon said rocker in the event that said hero may one day g
Gentlemen, the Gen'ral is proud to annouce a 297k point game completed for the Gerontocracy!
Great job clanlindsey ! [e classic]:congrat:[/e] As a matter of fact, hats off to everyone and that goes out to a few of our more silent but active contributors as well. Comforting to see our little empire still has a pulse. [e classic];)[/e]
Sorry GW , I guess I wasn't clear when I wrote "gaming hiccups". [e digicons][/e] It's not a technical thing but what I really meant to say was that due to recent real life intrusions and demands, my participation in our humble little empire (scoring wise) has been off and on but mostly off lately. I think it's because like you and many others I now find that playing anything less than Immense or Gigantic feels less than galactic in scope as far as game
Ahhh, I think I can safely start up a new game finally without too much in the way of distraction. Here's hoping for an uninterupted ToA (immense) gaming stretch again. The only thing that concerns me is that these gall darn gaming hiccups are stressing me out [e digicons]:S[/e] . Who knows, I may have to resort to playing large or medium maps again if this trend continues. [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e]
First game purchased for my first PC was Sid Meier's Civilization put out by MicroProse at the time. I had already been introduced to this game earlier having played it on my Amiga 500, so when I moved to the PC it was just a natural choice. Soon after I discovered X-Com: UFO Defense (also known as UFO: Enemy Unknown) another great MicroProse hit.
RL intervenes again and again and... [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e]
And now the EU3: Complete version is for sale ($30)
Good price! Downloaded the game(s) last night and just waiting for some quiet time to sit down and study the game mechanics. I'm looking forward to delving into the beefy political, diplomacy and religious aspects of the game.
I gave up trying to find a copy (retail) of Europa Universalis III: Complete here in Toronto. Amazon.ca doesn't list it either, so I was all set to order from amazon.com but now I may hold off a bit and see if Impulse will carry this title or at least purchase and download EU III + it's IN & NA expansions, if and when they become available. EU III and expansions are now available on Impulse.
Excellent news! [e digicons]:)[/e]
Welcome clanlindsey to The Gerontocracy... rock on! [e digicons][/e]
A question, what's the name of the Gerontocrat homeworld?
Seth, it goes by many names but the name "Phlorida" is sometimes mentioned in our planetary lore. But you can be sure of one thing, it's a Gas Giant.
The games we've released so far are just a drop in the bucket of Paradox Goodness we have in store for everyone here. If there is a Paradox game you've been debating picking up, hold off a bit longer. It just might show up here before too long. Per the original announcement, we're getting most of the Paradox catalog. So chances are good that game you're looking for will be available here soon. Yes, that includes EU III
Just what I wanted to he
