I wish I'd never started reading. GC2 swallowed absurd amounts of my time, and while I purchased DA and TA I never really played either one. Unfortunately I still hit the GC2 site on a regular basis. I noticed this story and remembered his previous one, so I made the mistake of clicking the link. Then I fired up TA late last week. I forgot to feed myself several times this weekend. Unless it's somewhere I don't see, there's no way to set GCII plus all the expansions to download and install in one shot. Trying to install DA gets you a message about installing GCII first, TA about installing DA first. It's not a big deal, but it would be nice to have again. While I'm thinking of it, is there any way to do global updates on all purchased software as well? My apologies if these features are already in and I just overlooked them. Other than those
But I would really appreciate when it would run on LINUX. I doesn't need to be a native version but a unofficial support for Wine would be just fine. So many games already run with Wine and GC2 does only have a few problems left. I think, if they did that, I'd have to start adding the words "Stardock Fanboy" to my forums sigs. If they actually made a Linux build available I'd probably just have "Stardock" tattooed somewhere on my body. <div cla
Interesting, since I appear to already have it (or some wacky version of it). Updated last night through SDC (around 7 or 8 PM EST). All components got an update. GalCivII version: 1.50[b].101 with 1.50.100 now showing as available. hmm.... DA version: 1.59.078 *shrugs* I haven't tried to fire it up yet, watch it explode when I do.
I've been playing GalCiv2 (and now DA) on a eVGA 7950 GX2 since October or so, with Hardware mouse OFF, and I've never had a lockup problem that could be traced to that option. I just noticed the post about this today so I decided to double-check things on my end. I'll say right now that I'm not sure if I'm running in SLI during the sessions since I've never had a profile created for the game. Knowing that I made a savegame (relatively early in DA) to benchmark my fps from. At my nor

Ok, this is odd. Cari's Journal entry shows up as black text in Opera 9.01. Frogboy's, directly below it, shows up fine. I've noticed this problem before but didn't mention it (incidentally also with Cari's journal entries IIRC). No display issue with IE and when I click on the comments section in order to post it shows up fine too. To be clear the black text only shows when I view the entry at this link: https://www.galciv2.com/Journals.aspx No biggie, just an oddity I th
I don't like how much you nerfed the economy. I think it works great. It makes the mid-game more interesting. Heck, my last game was on a Large map with very few planets and I was (at the end) running 75% taxes and still holding over 90% morale. Granted, I had bonuses and the like but it was harder to get it there....I had to keep inching it u
Also, I wasn't aware that any military production points were transfered to social when ship building was on hold, Unless I missed reading it in the newest features list. To my knowledge military production is NOT transfered to social if it is not used, instead you're not charged for it. Social production, OTOH is transfered to military producti
#5 - Oh, you mean bring pirates back to original game levels? First time I ever encountered them was in 1.0, my very first game and not very far along at a
This is something the devs have not been very aware of until recently, and so far they have been unable to recreate the problem. I just encountered this bug myself and sent an email off with all the details. The short of it here: played for about 2 hours, flipped several planets, had it occur once. Reloaded from autosave (before the glitch
Sounds good to me. The single best thing about this game is the replayability. Random events, random map generation and the simple fact that no two games play out the same is what keeps me coming back. These events would just make it that much better....just be sure to keep it as an option. Getting nuked by a pirate squad of death would probably make me want to turn it off for the next game or two. <br/
It depends on what version you upgraded from. There was a bug in early versions that prevented the 700% research bonus from ever showing up, though I can't remember which patch it was that fixed that (1.2 sounds right). Just watch those 700% bonus tiles carefully, it's a great way to destroy your economy if you don't keep the spending under control.
And #1 should be taken care of by applying the 1.2 or 1.3 updates, since the CE content is included with them. Maybe Kryo would know, but is the CE content added in the SDC update method, or just in the update file in the Downloads section? Just because you don't see it doesn't mean that it isn't there. I currently have high espionage on both Drengin and Terran, the game was started with version 1.30 (same game as in my previous post). <b
The game is too hard now. I can live with the tightening up of cash, approval, and population, but the way they made it so hard to forge alliances just kills me. The fixes are nice though. I like the changes. It makes mid-game more interesting and forces better decisions when it comes to planet development. The ease that alliances were
I'm seeing in this update that the turn button is always green, even with ships that have moves left. I do have a few ships on autopilot, so I'll see if that is contributing to it when those two colony ships on auto reach thier destinations. Ships on autopilot do not count as ships with moves left since they have a target destination. If they re
Just yet another example of the unbelievable Stardock support. So something went through broken, big deal. Given the sheer volume of changes for each patch it was bound to happen. Anyway, it's fixed and you guys are still far, FAR above any other dev team out there. So, here's a big Thank You to all the Stardock people. Oh, and it's 2:04 AM and I don't see my update. Of course, G
Not sure if this one is a bug or not: Current game: Humans, Drengin, Altarians and Torians left--I've conquered the Arceans some time ago. I launch an attack on the Altarians and wipe them out in the space of a few turns, using both transports in the process. A few turns later the Torians declare war on me saying that I have transports parked around their worlds. Now, I had Friendly relations with all the civs and didn't have a transport anywhere near Torian territory the entire time
There are still problems with planets displaying inaccurate pq/avaliable tiles. Just checked my save game, I can confirm this. Unfortunately the amount of habitable planets is very low in my current game, I only hold 6 planets and only 1 is displayed incorrectly; the Arcean homeworld lists a PQ of 15 but only has 14 available tiles (and I am cou

Really? I installed the bonuspack when I had updated to 1.2 and got some collector's edition ship extras that weren't there with 1.2. Don't know if it's included in 1.3 though. Yeah, I haven't seen the collector's edition stuff either. This was using an old version that had been patched since 1.0 and another copy that was downloaded at 1.2 and
After updating to the latest patch that was just released I have a problem. The end of turn button no longer turns green when there are no more ship movements left. Any ideas? Bug. It's broken for me too, I just came here to post about it. It worked fine in 1.3b3x too. Gotta go look into the random settings getting 'stuck' again, too.
