How tough is your video card?!

Gamers Wish

My best Windows box is on the edge of obsolete now. I am able to run games like Doom 3, Quake 4, UT2004, Halo...etc on high settings with my Radeo X800XL. I can run Battlefield 2 at higher settings, but not TOP. My best #DMark03=11127

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (2.5GHz@400FSB)
Epox 8RDA3+ Pro
1GB Cosair XMS PC3200 in dual channel (3-3-3-8)
Ati Radeon X800XL (431,526)

Like I said, I'm on the edge of obsolete as far as games newer than Battlefield 2.

How tough is your vid card?
What are you going to buy for your next video upgrade?

I've just bought a 7900GS. They're insanely good value for money (basically a 10% faster 7800GT for the price of a 7600GT, and they'll overlock to 7900GT speeds).

to bad for you.

Geforce 8 series comes out q1 2007. And those will be fully dx10 compliant.
I am using a 6800 right now but when those 8 series come out.... ohhh baby.

I've got a 7800GS, best AGP card you can get (and probably one of the last high-end AGP cards period).  I got it to tide me over until I could afford a PCIe system.

Meh, I have a 6800XT, which is just a glofied 6800GS, and it wasn't much of a upgrade from my olde 9800Pro other then now I can do HDR...

Geforce 7950 GX2 by eVGA.
Core 2 Duo E6600
2 GB Corsair DDR2-800 (PC6400 CAS4)
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
2 80GB WD HDDs, SATA 3.0 GB/s in RAID0
And one really big Zalman 9500 on the CPU that literally keeps the CPU at room temperature under idle/light load. (Had to buy the CPU OEM, couldn't find a retail box anywhere).

Been running for about 3 weeks now and it's very nice.

Not worried about DX10 because it's Vista only and I'm not upgrading to Vista until the DRM shit is, at the very least, cracked (though I'd rather Microsoft pulls support for that, but I'd also like to see pigs fly).

Next upgrade is a new LCD monitor. My old CRT is getting fuzzy at 1600*1200 and it's driving me nuts.
