Can't get any new ships to work :(

Hi,

I brought the a few days ago, and I've been playing non-stop, however I decided I want some new ship designs, as I can't design any ships to save my life, and they just look like space bricks.

So I decided to download some ships off out the database on this site, however they never show up ingame... I have extracted the files to the right directories/folder but no joy, I also have the tech researched to use the ships (medium hull+) etc.

Can anyone let me know why they don't work, or maybe a guide for getting these ships to work?

Which ships have you downloaded?
I'd like to check their instructions and see what you might be doing wrong.

Could be a number of things.

1) They may require the Collector's Edition ship parts, which require a special program to unlock (available on the CE section of the downloads page).

2) You may be playing using the wrong ship style (designs are only good for the same style as there were created with).

3) You may need to start a new game for them to appear.

4) The ships are saved in a different format from what was used in 1.0, so you may also need to patch up if you haven't.

And #1 should be taken care of by applying the 1.2 or 1.3 updates, since the CE content is included with them.

Maybe Kryo would know, but is the CE content added in the SDC update method, or just in the update file in the Downloads section?

I'm not sure what specifically is added by 1.2 and 1.3, but having just done a full reinstall that started at 1.2 I can tell you that the CE unlocking program is still needed to get the parts that are titled 'Collectors Edition'.

Edit: What the....? Where did the metaverse stuff come from? I created a profile, but I don't think I ever linked it and I'm sure I never submitted a metaverse game. Ah well, guess I might as well start now.
