should be able to update those through microsoft. my desktop hp uses the ac97 audio and i updated thru microsoft. latest version i have is dated 10/1/2004 and is version number 5.10.0.5730. my details say im using a realtek AC 97 audio so it is different from your laptop, i would still check microsoft anyway. cant hurt anything

voted yes for the extra ship stuff but with all the modding that should be going on I can see why people voted no. I would still like stuff from stardock though

In the posters defence ANY post over 1.5 hours old is hard to find in these forums heh? i searched on the word neutrality and it pulled up some amazing stuff. poster would have had plenty of posts to bump. heck i even click on forums then click on more under that first window cus they are basically all stickies and i can see thousands of posts

not sure how much ram your videocard needs for this game but 64mb seems low as well. and shogun has already mentioned your sound drivers. and update the game! 2 months after release and you are still playing the game out of the box.

lower levels are capped, but if you need to do this trick at below normal to win then you probably arent ready for a higher difficulty.

hehe post that debug! if your video drivers were that old im sure your sound is also. could be ram, sound, page file, spyware, viruses, when was last time you defragged? running other apps while playing, trying to play in windowed or full screen mode? need more info to help ya out!!

when on planet screen or research screen the turn button will often disappear, if i hit done my turn will end. if the turn button is visible and i hit done while in those screens everything is ok. also noticed while i was at war with the terrans that their starports were idle not sure what their bc situation was but it seems to me that they should be cranking out ships for defense or offense. i h

well i have ati and i read their update notes for any new drivers they put out. they have a list of fixes for games. if i dont have any of those games i dont get the driver. they also tell you that if you arent having issues, then dont update!!! so even ati believes in the "if it aint broke dont fix it" ati also has a download for a driver cleaner program. i would suggest cleaning out any old ones before installing. i hear just installing new one

yeah stardock really needs to state somewhere that the campaign is not the place to learn the game, im sure most people think its like starcraft or wow and that the campaigns are where its at. i played sandbox a lot then started on campaign and didnt like it just because half the dang tech tree is missing, back to sandbox i went! i wouldnt even bother with the campaign jlgerre, play sandbox and have fun. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/

yeah UP needs work. a list of topics to vote on which is given a couple of months in advance. allows me to work the phonelines and make sure the topic i want voted on gets selected. then the actual vote of the topic that was selected. unless you are running a dictatorship then the senate should have some input into how you vote at the UP meeting. lots of ways the UP could go, lets hope they give it an upgrade or someone can mod it.

playing the latest beta, large map, normal ai, 6 random opponents, no trade and blind exploration. my problem is that no civs set up trade routes with me even though they had trade researched. i would see freighters fly up to my planets and then turn around and head back out. my economy was great, not at war with anyone, just kept paying tribute cus i could afford it. ai had routes with other civs but not me. never had any games where the ai ignored me

i have to say that store space is a premium these days. i have 2 wal marts nearby and their pc game sections have shrunk in favor of console displays and games. my best buy just did some interior designing and pc software(apps and games) basically has one shelf front and back. used to be a couple just for games now one for everything. costco and sams i would be lucky to find 5 titles max and now they have their games stuck in the piles with all the boo

take out all the star systems that have no inhabitable planets and it would probably open up a lot of space, those are obstacles now, might as well turn em into something else that affects the game.

yep just play on normal, i upgraded about 8 ships and went 10k into the red, beta version. i guess anything below normal will still be 2k limit.

destroy the colony! you didnt need it did ya?? obviously not if its draining your economy. trade the planet to another race and let it drain their economy

well in the 1.1 update there will be logos that can be put on ships. not sure if it will be in the beta but was mentioned for the actual update.

i had major issues with city of heroes, boosted my ram, got new vid card, was changing my page file sizes, was trying a couple of different isp providers(game needs internet to play) etc... turns out i just needed to update my onboard audio drivers. never thought that my audio could have such an impact on performance, constant disconnects and freezing. needless to say the updates worked. did notice you have norton, i havent heard good things about that

eh, the only suggestions in this thread are to wash cars. if you couldnt figure that out then you dont need to be playing this game, you should be reading the dick and jane primers. cant believe the serious responses you got to this question. the true definition of trolling if there was one.
