All the CE parts were made freely available in one of the later patches of the base game, so they should already be present in DA or TA.
Ahh, they're listed under the 'generic' tab so they don't show up in the default (your style) list. Thanks Kryo.

Is it still possible to enable the CE ship jewelry pieces in DA? I seem to remember being able to download a small patch before which would do this, but with Impulse I'm not sure how?

I also feel that any time alliance members honor the alliance pact, peace being declared means peace for all alliance members involved, the 'other guy' shouldn't be able to sue for peace with individual members, should be an all or nothing affair really.

I generally try to grab no more than 2 high quality planets right off the bat. But that's just my strategy and I'm no expert.

I use the template names and designs, and just add to the end based on what it carries and what tier. I consider next tier weapons as the first tier, because I don't even bother redesigning anything with the early weapons and defenses. Lasers are first tier for beam weapons, impulse drives are first tier for engines, etc. So a ship with phasers, shields & warp drives just uses the template name with L2S2E2 tacked onto the end. It's not creative, but I prefer it to just adding MkII,

Well, a couple questions. Are you using the latest version (1.61?) and have you tried reinstalling the game? If you don't see a tech for space mining 1,2, & 3 there could be something very wrong with your game. Just make sure you have the button clicked in the tech screen to display all techs so that none of them are hidden.

I find that it seems very easy to outpace the AI if you focus on research and production that boosts your own research, as well as researching more non-military techs. A lot of games I've played the AI just seems to focus on weapons tech, and has some pretty powerful small ships, but doesn't even bother researching or building larger hulls.

Playing a relatively peaceful game, I had the 5 other races all at close relations because of trading and being peaceful, and throughout the entire game I never had the option to form an alliance other than economy and tech.

Is the rally point feature a little bugged right now in 1.61? It seems that sometimes after the ship is auto-launched from a planet, the auto-pilot isn't activated. I've also noticed that when you choose a rally point from the popup, it displays a mini-map in the listing but it doesn't actually highlight it on the map.

I experienced shut-offs before I had patched up to 1.61. The first time it happened was when I exited out of the game, the ZoneAlarm pops up telling me the Dr. Watson error reporter is trying to run or whatnot. I click allow, and the system completely shut down, and not appropriately either, I mean the screen went black as soon as I hit the button. A couple more times I had the same popup when I exited out, and since then I've denied it and it didn't happen. Now that I'm at 1

I don't suppose someone has tried getting a mod out to help with this issue? I think if constructors were treated like the space miners, where they have to wait several turns while they construct a new module on a starbase, it would be great. I still think the original constructor should be consumed when building the base itself also. I'm also a starbase nut. They're great for just about everything.

I've had that glitch too I believe, but it's just a cosmetic boo-boo in my opinion. I've wondered what's caused it.

I also notice that you can't steal tech from them at all. I just think that you either shouldn't be able to spy on them, or if you do simply to slow them down, disable the espionage level messages because you can't use them anyway.

I found a bug in Dark Avatar involving the Dread Lords and how the spies work. I got the Dread Lord event that they're coming to take back over the universe or whatever. Great, just great, right? I don't know if a random planet is made their homeworld or if they have to take it over, I dunno because I didn't explore the part of the galaxy they popped up in. Anyway, after I find their homeworld, I fill it up with spies. I see their entire planet is made up of manufacturing di

I was messing around with the spending allocation sliders on a new game. I only have my homeworld, and on it is a Precursor Library. Along with the Civ Capital, I should be able to produce 88 tech points. But if I bump my spending and research slider to 100%, the planet info screen shows I'm getting 96 tech points without any planet focus. Where do the extra 8tp's come from, my racial bonus? Because I have a 20% research bonus for one of my racial abilities, and that's only about a

I always thought it would be better to know the location of each home planet at the beginning, since you would know where the other planets actually were, but that you shouldn't be able to see the influence borders changing until you clear the fog of war. And if you can no longer see something (in the fog of war) then it wouldn't update until you explored that area again.

In fact the only part of my original package I use is the tech tree still, oh yea and the copy protection serial number, so GC 2 does have a form of copy protection. The serial # for GC2 isn't meant as a copy protection at all. You can copy the game to your hearts content, install it on as many computers as you want, but you won't be able t

I also seem to remember when EA tried to make you register your key in order to get the updates, but I don't think that lasted long. And Nats, do you know how much other software requires some sort of online activation, not including games? If it wouldn't hold up in courts, I doubt there would be a lot of companies using that method. If you buy a used copy of Battlefield 2, I don't think you can even register an online account with the same key if someone else did that. Y

I'm talking about difficulty level. Anything that's normal and above is supposed to use the harder AI. I've never experienced any problems with the AI not realising what I'm doing with my influence starbases.

I think having a small program installed on my system that automatically checks for updates and even gives me access to beta versions of the patch is no where near as bad as it sounds, at least to me. Yes, originally I was a bit confused where to get the patches, but for a long time now I'm glad updating is an easy thing. Another thing though, is that anytime you buy a used game, either over eBay, EB Games, or any other retail software outlet, you should know that you are taking your

Fuel & supplies is already simulated well enough with the range limitation from starbases & planets. You do know that real ships & fleets have been able to refuel/rearm/resupply out at sea ever since WWII? They have smaller ships whose sole purpose is to carry fuel & other supplies out to the fleet so they don't have to return to port. Pretty sure that ability could apply out in space as well. I think heroes/captains/admirals would be a nice addition, especially if they augmented t
