Heh, that is a lot of time put in just for a little visual enhancment. It has been said before that it is rare, and is meant to be that way (I think). I wish people would stop confusing design decisions for bugs.

hehe... playing board games with evil overlords... hrmm that gives me an idea for: http://members.optusnet.com.au/smacklefunky/galciv2/playinggames.jpg (Done with modding)
What is the error exactly? It sounds possible that it might be an overheating problem. If you don't play for a while, and then start playing from your save and it doesn't error for a long while it could be that your graphics card is over heating, a few people have had similar problems. Otherwise you need to give more info, what machine are you running it on, what is the error, when does it happen...
HIDEOUSLY GAME-DESTROYING BUG http://members.optusnet.com.au/smacklefunky/galciv2/present.jpg Ok Not really, its mildly amusing at worse. Can you spot the problem in this "present"? I'm not sure what impression they where trying to make... To be honest I was a bit suspicious when they asked me for my bank details to transfer the funds (not really, of course). Naturally I accepted.
On larger galaxies with more opponents this tactic wouldn't work very well. Chances are you won't be able to travel the distance required, and also keep all your opponents at bay.
Umm, I heard about a week or so, but I can't confirm that... But soon. Although I am in Austrlalia and already have it... gotta love digital download.
its always interesting how Turn based games alter reality. An enemy fighter could be waiting between you and a planet, but you can just waltz right passed that ship and straight to the planet before the fighter can even blink. Doesn't make sense, but its the physics you get in TBS. Of course, all the AI has to do is protect the planet with ships orbiting the planet, and your superfast troop ships can't do anything. and what with all that tim
Thats funny, most people would like to be quasi-omniscient, but then I am talking about real life here. I happen to agree. It would be nice to take a nice quality planet in some corner of a huge galaxy that my enemy doesn't know about. He may be able to find it if he sends a scout over, or sees my ships coming from that direction, but otherwise it can be a nice hidden gold mind. But if he magically can see all my influence then it ruins that
Get a bigger hull, and put 4 transport modules on the ship. Then you can carry 4 times as many troops on the ship.
I never understood politics. There aren't many games where you will find half a dozen people discuss in depth the ethical and moral decision the A.I. make. Good work people
ago1000 , The AI does mention that they don't like all your ships being so close to their planets.. And if you leave them there long enough they will attack them. Secondly, if you do see the AI putting fleets and fleets of ships near all your planets, I think you will be smart enough to see that they are up to something (and therefore declare war) Alt
The text size seems to be totally random for me, so sorry if that was directed at me.
Good point Domaru If an alien race *did* want to set up a Starbase right in eath's orbit, and we said we didn't want them to. How could we stop them? They could go and do it and there is nothing we could do about it. Except go and blow it up when they do, which you can do in this game But there is another option similar to what you say, wh
The ship files are .X files, which are some sort of 3d object file. You need a program that can read/write those files (which are usually rather complicated 3d editing programs). So it is possible, but mabye not for a "software moron" unfortunately
They are NOT political borders, they are influence range... Very big difference. An example: Like lets take two countries that share a border... Ok, I don't know any... So lets just make them up. Lets say "Canada" and "America" share a border... and lets say that they had completely different ways of thinking - different cultures. Now, lets say that "America's" culture was really dominant, they had a greater influence. So much so that their culture spills o
I think removing all non-pretty objets should be an option *after* you press upgrade. That is, you press upgrade and ship is as was before, but you can select "Remove ship parts" (or something better) to remove all the parts that do anything. That way people who only want to change small aspects of the ship can do so.
They never said there was no copy protection, just not the persistantly-active copy protection of most games. But you are right - this system of copy protection is bad for those who don't have an internet connection. Unfortunately each method of copy protection has it's flaws, and this is this one. I *think* that if you download the patches from this site on the download tab instead of through stardock (and if you purchased
This may apply to you: https://www.galciv2.com/paradox/ If it doesn't then keep searching the box 'til you find that other number.
(Quote from IGN) Also, the tech tree isn't made up of branches so much as a series of trunks. Laser I leads to Laser II leads to Laser III, and so on. It's not as if researching lasers is ever going to lead to anything other than better lasers. I'd love to see more obvious relationships between the technologies.
your archive files might be corrupt.. you may need to remove everything from the temp stardock directory and download/install again.... altho that would be a bit of a drag (especially if it still doesn't work afterwards)
Well, I have collected anomolies that have drugs that increase birth rate, so that is one factor... I don't know off hand of any others though...
The latest patch (1.0X.1 makes the AI more weary on trade, so it might be worth checking to see if those changes have improved things a lot, or if you can still exploit this...
I know, don't worry... I would of done the same in that situation if 100 beta testers had 2 people see the bug in 1% of their games, thats a real low percentage to have to worry about... only problem is, scale that to tens of thousands of players, and it does turn up more often than you would like. All in all I can't see what could of been
paying for social is a feature, and few have mentioned that they disagree with this feature. and there has been talk of when you don't build anything the money goes towards morale, but that hasn't been implemented yet. You "defense vs attack", I think, is like a role of a dice. that is, if you have the equivelant defense of 20 for a weapon, and the have the attack of 10 for that weapon.. you get a random number from 1 to 20, they
Building ships could be a problem - Some people can spend a long time doing this. You'll have problem with diplomacy... Researching diplomacy to give yourself the "edge" in trading would only work on the AI, as player to player would work purely on the quality of the deal. Human-only multiplayer you lose most of that tree of research altogether. Even with AI you would probably turn it off and give AI different rules for diplomact to make it
