http://www.memtest.org/#downiso Get the pre-built iso as a zip file, unzip it and burn the iso to a CD. In case you are not completely computer savvy, that doesn't mean burn the ISO to the cd, but chooes the option "Burn CD image" and give it the image and it should put a bunch of files on the CD. If you are computer savvy then ignore the previous sentence because you know what to do <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile

You know, this sort of post really sucks the enjoyment out of doing free updates. Well don't stop... I'm really looking forward to the changes in 1.1, and I am sure there are heaps more around the horizon that I don't know about yet but don't want to miss
Lastly, any way to change the bonus tiles on planets? If nothing else I'd like to get rid of the stupid bonus food tiles, as I rarely build farms, and when I do I don't want that many extra people.... You don't have to use them you know... Just build something else on top of them and you will be fine.
Personally i've only ever had one CTD -- and it was probably my fault for trying to do too much with my computer at once Yes... I should mention that one of my CTDs was because I was running two games at once... I wanted to quickly check something out in another game and couldn't be bothered leavin th
Well... sure it sounds bad when you put game production ideas into a deli situation... ME: What is your return policy? Sign on door: Finished with your sandwiches? Trade in two old sandwiches for one new one! Hot Cross Buns package: Special Collectors edition. Now one really huge bun instead of a six pack.
Well, your particular problem is not one that comes up often. So I doubt that it is entirely the games fault. Yes, several people have CTDs (my last game had three) but freezing at random spots isn't something that I have heard anyone have. You might want to try checking your memory. It is possible that you have bad RAM. It is worth running it through a test http://www.memtest.org/. The reason I suggest this is because I have had similar pro
True True... slightly different in meaning of what it actually does...
1. Colonisation Maybe. Well, In the 1.1 patch apparently population growth is a lot slower, and so if you colonise too fast then you soon run out of people. I don't know how much the slowness will change things but I can imagine it would slow you down a *little* bit. Not as much as your suggestion would... but ultmately I don't see it making th
I'm just confused.
(in that case we have a simple case of design differences) Yup, thats the one. Read several of the Journal (and front page) posts that have been made by Draginol and/or FrogBoy (who is one and the same anyway). Some posts explain how things are calculated, others explain how the logic behind "not tell
You see, space is curved...
A lot of Civ games expect you to research everything , but I think this one is different. You are not expected to research everything (Except for a technological victory of course). You have to decide on something compared to the circumstances and stick with it. Keeps you thinking and makes your decisions more important
The Terran Alliance destroyed 163 ships while only losing 38. That's a 4 to 1 kill ratio. That's amazing. This story brought a curious question to my mind... In your experience of plotting AI vs AI, do you find the race X always beats race Y, who in turn always beats race Z etc? Or does it get mixed up a bit depending on circumstanc
I want to see recordings of all the huge space fights alright
My guess is that the X,Y,Z axis govern the direction. I haven't tried myself so I am not sure, but it might be worth rotating the piece in Gmax to see what happens.
Actually its a feature. Apparently the AI work off different rules when placing starbases. In particular, they can't put more than 4 starbases in a sector (excluding mines), but they can put them as close as they want. The Player, on the other hand, can put in as many as they want in a sector but not close together. I don't know why it was done this way. Personally I prefer when the AI plays by the same rules as the player.
Be careful not to build all your manufacturing all at once.. Otherwise you will be spending several hundred dollars a week more than you have I just hope the AI pick on you a lot so you don't get bored.
I tried for about 30 mins to make the USS Enterprise, then gave up and focused on the important stuff. But I am wondering..will there be a mod/patch in the future which allows one to have a pre-made Enterprise? (Or death star, or X-win, etc)? The ship part files are just .X files which are a standar
I think you have just had a run of bad luck. I've had games where everyone got along well. Except the Drengin where on again off again war with the Terran alliance. But other than that everyone else got along well. In the end it was one huge intergalactic trading game for me. So many trade routes going in all directions, that half my income was from trade. At one stage I was so reliant on trade that if I where to go at war with just one race, I would s
My ships all end up as basic hulls with random parts slapped on it. Partly because I just want to get back into the game, but mostly because I am no good at coming up with good designs... Except that in my last game I got a medium hull size researched and went crazy on design. Probably spent about 3/4 hour working on it. It is a great way to have a break from a long war when you want to stop to think for a while before pressing "turn" (and n
the metaverse is set up in a way so that all metaverse data is in GalCiv2/MetaverseData/ So as long as you keep out of there you will be ok. Which leaves a lot of other stuff that can be edited. Of course changing the equivelant file in GalCiv2/Data/ (for example, MetaverseData/English/PoliticalParties.xml and Data/English/PoliticalParties.xml) means that it will change your main game, but not your metaverse game. And thus leaving you safe
Your economy is going own because you are spending more. You are spending more because you have more factories producing things which is costing you more. As people have said you can decomission stuff. Especially after you have conquered. Lets say that before you conquered you had 60 units of construction going on. Then the planet you conquered was a really good one and it had 30 on it. Then you have increased your manufacturing b
Besides, if an alien race had influence that completely surrounded one of your own planets, you wouldn't want them to say you can't enter it? That would just be plain silly
it is definately intended, and also wildly voted as a Bad Idea... But of course it is all objective so their is no such thing
You know... galciv2 is a multiplayer game. It is everyone-versus-brad. now *thats* what I call a MMO
