I think the point he is trying to make is that if you have the money, why can't you have science and industry operating at 100% at the same time. Also, it isn't so much that the system is "broken", it is a game and can therefore be anything and still not be broken. The object isn't necessary to instill realism, but to create a system that works well in a strategy game. So long as you understand the rules, and know the computer must also follow these rules, then all is fair. <br

To upgrade, you need to send in another constructor. You can make some killer influence bases by just adding and adding. My first game (begginer) was won by influence victory. I wasn't even trying, seemed so simple. My third game is on chalenging, and my influence is crushing. With so many difficulty levels that are not described in the manual, I wonder when I will hit the one that actually uses the AI effectively without cheating.
I have had this happen to me too. Minor race built two influence bases right next to Earth! Their homeworld was in the farthest corner possible. Then, they start complaining that I an infringing on THEIR culture!! They eventually declared war on me for this! Rediculous. Also, why don't starbases owned by minors show up as tradable in the diplomacy screan? Why can't they ally?
#1 Gal Civ Encyclopedia. Need to know how to play in order to really play. Minor races starting with all known techs shouldn't be allowed. If minor races have no influence, then why do they build influence starbases. AI considers their starbases to be their home worlds. I had war declared on me because their influence starbase was in my territory. They warned me forever, but their planet was on the other side of the map from me. It couldn't be further. Howev
Two points 1. In Civ III, the corruption model became this unfun feature that basically made far off cities worthless. It also made it hard to have a big empire, because the more cities you had, the worse it got. It was justified because in real life there is corruption, and maintaining a huge empire is difficult and should have its problems etc. But, as far as I know, In Civ IV they did away with stuff like corruption all together. Why? Becasue it is a game, and people play gam
This looks like something that only is good for ships and starbases. To me, the most confusing thing about the game is not ship construction. The problem is I don't understand how the bonuses work for economics, science, military etc.. I would like an encyclopedia that explains the underlying components of the game.
I think this game is rather solid, seeing as how no bug has actually prevented me from playing. However, I continually run into the strangest little bugs that I am sure wouldn't be too difficult to fix. Stardock has done an outstanding job at providing support, and I am no longer willing to just complain about every little bug on the forum. I want to make sure that I have all the info needed to get my bugs fixed. What is the correct way to post a bug? Please be specific.
Sorry if this is explained elsewere. What do the difficulty levels mean. In the manual it states exactly what percentage of the ai industry is used, and how "difficult" the AI is for every level of difficulty. However, the leves are not like in the manual. We have: cakewalk, easy, simple, geginner, normal, chalenging, tough, painful, crippling, masochistic, obscene, and suicidal. Hmmmm
I would say the game is solid as far as crashes go. I think it is a bit more than my computer can handle, and I probably wont go much larger than a normal map. But if my 3 year old system can handle it, then I would immagine any newer one whould have a fair go at it. That being said, I agree with the polishing aspect. The game is great, but there are little things that are very confusing. Most things may be intentianal, but it is impossible to tell without a more in deapth manual.
You made the game Frogboy, so naturally you will make changes as you see fit. Also, you may think everyones complaint on social production is unfounded because it is operating "by design". Also, to me it seems that many of the bonus values given for various improvements, technologies, racial abilities etc. are not direct translations when applied to all the mathmatical calculations. Therefore, to the casual observer it appears that everything is messed up. Also, it seems that som
For God's sake lets fix some of these problems https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=105129#816617
Seen this one too. People should be also posting this stuff in the sticky for "Easy Tweeks to make the game better for you". This way you know it will at least be read by the developers. Nothing like a problem that doesn't get noticed by the powers that be.
Now I am just irritated. How could all these stupid little things have been overlooked. It is like all the bonuses should be re-named as "false sense of accomplishment factor". Very annoying. Keep the complaints comming, these are truly must fix items. Hope you are listening Stardock.
I like the idea of the Unite Planets. But, I have no influence on what is voted on, and no influence on how the others will vote. Therefore, it is just another extra that could have been much better than it is.
Not an easy fix, but there are numerous posts about how unclear the bonuses are for economy, production, morale etc. There is nothing to explain how it works, and sometimes if you try to figure it out you are just left wondering if the designers just forgot to make the bonuses have effect. Make an encylcopedia of game mechanics. Make sure the math is correct.
I really like this post. I hope it doesn't just get swept under the rug. I think the greatest downfall of GalCIV is that the basics of production, economy, moral etc. are unclear. I know there is a system, but it is not explained in deapth anywhere, so it is hard to know exactly what to do. And then when people like drank spend time to figure it out, they are just left in a state of confusion. I have had my own wonders about the game. For example, I built tones of these markets o
I just got done dragging myself away from this awsome game. Even on a normal map, this is eating my computer alive. Very resource intensive it seems. Anyhow, I don't see why the following can't easily be fixed. 1. Why can I see ships in orbit around AI planets, even when none of my ships are near. Seems stupid to me. 2. Why can't I tell the AI to get the @$#& out of my territory, or at least give a "war" option in the diplomacy screan. How can I threaten the AI withou
Is it ok to load the patch in the middle of a game? Also, what are the changes in the patch, is it just a bunch of new ships and scenarios?
Played the first game on a level that was obviously way too easy. Got a cultural victory, didn't even fire a single shot in anger. I am pleased with the game so far. First game was just to test the water, next will hopefull be harder. This game is great, and perhaps the best thing about it is the hope that it will get continued support. Despite how good the game is, there are quite a few little nuances. And also a few things that could and should be added in my oppinion. Hopefully Stardoc
Bug: When in the foreign policy screan, it gives you the catagories of military, ability etc. Well when I go through the list, and come back to the top on the "ability" screan, the screan is blank. I have to go to a different race, and then come back to the orriginal to get the screan to show again. Complaint: Why can't I get info on minor races. And also, I can't buy their ships or starbases either. I think it is strange that I can't get info on them. Can't this be changed?<br/
Ok, I can't figure out how to make an alliance. I have the technology, I even gave it to everyone else. I have good relations with a few, but I never get the option in the diplomacy screan. So, how is it done?
Just wondering how economy really works. There are certain improvements that are supposed to increase economy by a certain percent. However, it seems that I can build a whole bunch of these, but I barely see any increase revenue. One thing that always puzzled me about Gal Civ is that I couldn't figure out exactly how income, approval rating, science points and production points are calculated. Don't get me wrong, I love this game. But for example, I really liked how in Civ III I

Is there a screan that explains food production and usage. I don't know when to build a farm, or if I even need to. Is food considered something that all colonies can share, or does every planet have to make its own. Basically, how does it work?
Moving around the map with the mouse becomes a headache. For example, if I pass the mouse through the menu button, or the map at the lower right hand corner, the main maps stops scrolling. It should scroll in the direction of the mouse reguardless of what the mouse is passing through. Also, pop up menues stick.
