It is also important to consider who's trade rought it actually is. Perhaps you are getting messages that it is too dangerous. But maybe some other race generated it. Perhaps it only protects yours.

I can't remember correctly, but if a freighter is attacked and destroyed does it destroy the trade rought, or does another freighter just start over from the beggining? If it is destroyed, then what the galactic wonder does is prevent it from being destroyed. I have built it, and when the freighter is destroyed a new one begins again from the planet that generated it.
Thanks for the tip. I take it that after you make this setting it is only in effect so long as the application is running. Correct?
When building ships, I notice that different hull sizes mean that the same componet will take up less or more space. For example (not necesarily true), lets say I have a frigate hull. I want to put on a harpoon and it says it takes up 11 spaces. I place it, but it actually takes up 12. This becomes difficult when I try to maximise budget and space. Would it be possible that the component size auto adjusted to the size of the hull selecte
I have noticed that too. If I were a guessing man I would say monors had no range.
Next time, I will try a medium map with only five opponents. Maybe that will help. Does the AI become tougher if it gets bigger? So far, I just kinda do whatever I want without much opposition. Also, I think the AI needs to be more aggressive. If I play peacefull, they never attack me. Maybe I need to get u
I remember reading about the combat algorith quite a bit before the game was released. As far as I was led to believe, the smallest ship will always be attacked first. Because of this, I thought it would be cool to design a fighter that was purely defencive. Early on in the game when everyone was pretty much using beam weapons, I made a fighter with a shield rating of 4. It had no attack, and I just stuck it in with my fleets because I thought it w
Some things that are wierd in the diplomacy screan. I can trade a tech away to a civ that doesn't have the prerequisate techs. I don't see how that is possible. And also, they will pay for techs that are less advanced then the ones they have. This being due to the above situation. If I offer a group of techs for money, I can often get the same amount as if I just sold one. In fact, if I sell one at a time I can get five or six
There was a post about AI doing smart things. So far, the only thing I see it doing is noticing when I get ready to attack, or impose on it culturaly. Wierd thing is, sometimes it treats its starbases as planets. I have had them tell me they wont tolerate me putting my transport next to their planet, but I wasn't anywhere close. Just close to their cultural starbase. In my current game on crippling, I had staged a one turn complete conqu
In my current game, I made evil decissions early on. I declared war on a minor race because again they put tones of influence bases in my territory (I hate this). Anyway, the Yor immediatly thought I was awsome for this. I allied with them quite easily. Then I noticed that everyone hates the Yor. Not the greatest of allies.
Whats worse, is minor race influence base spam.
It would be a huge advantage to those at the edges, and a huge disadvantage to those traped in the middle. Still, a neat idea.
I thought the same thing about the privateer. I think this is how it work. They can still kill your little freighter, however the trade route remains intact. You don't have to build another freighter and start over. It will just automatically create another little one and start from the beggining. I think this is how it works, but don't quote me.
Sorry for the ignorance, didn't think it was necessary to spend countless hours researching to understand a game with an inadequate manual. I will check out the wiki, thanks peach phoenix.
Ground combat is lame. But I agree, it doesn't need much attention right now. Let them fix the important stuff, then they can look into changing the ground combat. Hopefully change the system all together.
Social spending update is a big plus. That will kill lots of complaints. I can see why you would want to make the AI smarter on harder leves, but it doesn't make any sense to make it dumber on lower ones. Now there will just be a huge gap between leves. And the AI doesn't need to be dumber.
Just to clarify, I don't want minors removed, I just want them to be better. I know you have to upgrade starbases. I do it all the time, but they are still not entirely clear to understand. I don't see how all things can be explained in the bargraph/chart page. I had a planet with 22bil or something like that. 25% taxes and three of those stadium things that look like race tracks. Still, my approval kept d
Let me just say that I really want to like this game. I haven't given up yet, but I am getting more and more descuraged. Every time I play, I find something else that makes me say "what the #$^&!". I am starting to wonder if there will ever be enough patches to fix this game correctly. One thing I will not do is say that this game is "buggy as hell". My computer is by no means new, and I have never exsperienced any technical problems. A
Next step: Why are none of the leader figureheads black? Must mean stardock is racist too, right?
The one thing about multiplayer that I think would be a problem is the diplomacy rating. High diplomacy ratings mean you can get better deals when you trade with a computer player. But if one human has a high diplomacy rating and the other has a low one, it doesn't have any effect when the two of them trade. They either agree or don't, diplomacy has no effect. Therefore, this rating becomes almost useless.
Stock exchanges shouldn't have less economy bonus than a bank!!!! Monor Races!! They should be exactly like the other races, only smaller. I am sick of how they can't trade ships, starbases etc. Their units have unlimited range. The suddenly appear with all known techs. They put influence bases everywhere. They are just rediculous the way they are. I love the idea of minor races, but make them normal. Why is it that race can have a certain tech, but not one that prec
I see another closed thread comming on.
the forum is very slow. And yes, it is hard to understand how these little cosmetic bugs sliped by.
I agree that there is a huge lack of information about the game mechanics. Overall though, I still think it is very fun. I look at it as a game. I can get over the social spending thing, and I can also get over the fact that I am basically playing with my eyes closed. However, I still have fun with the parts that are great. I have faith that the devs will eventually give us some usefull info on the way the game percentages work. I really hope I am not dissapointed. If not, I wont regret b
