Food Production

Is there a screan that explains food production and usage. I don't know when to build a farm, or if I even need to. Is food considered something that all colonies can share, or does every planet have to make its own. Basically, how does it work?

It's done per planet. A colony has a base output of 5mt, supporting 5 bil, and adding a farm will give roughly a total of 9mt for 9 bil. I wouldn't build more than 1 farm per world until much later when you've got entertainment tech to handle the overpopulation and the related morale drop.

Yeah on worlds I'd go 1:1 farm to entertainment. Bonus food tiles... I build on them but may go 1:2 unless I've got stock exchanges or the best entertainment improvements.

More people = more money from taxes. So encourage your empire to *ahem* procreate as much as possible.

what exactly is the advantage to a larger population.

Like Supreme Shogun said, more people = more taxes. You'll need extra people to mount an invaision at some point anyhow.

Is it just taxes? Don't they boost production and research too? (I would think so, unless all those people are just sitting around paying taxes).

No they do not. They are only worth money.

can anyone explain me how population and taxation are related?if my population grows of 1 billion people how much more bc i will get? there is any equation like that for population limit and planet quality or economy is related to population randomly?

In the near future keep an eye on the updates the team cranks out... Brad wants to tie population into planetary production.

Total Planetary Population should definately be tied to Planetary Production. Aren't these people working in order to pay their taxes?
