Is there any reason not to play Yor?

Is there any reason not to play Yor?

Logistics/Miniturization bonuses

One curiosity I have noticed is that the only inherent advantages a civilization has is it's logistics and miniturization bonuses. The other bonuses, social production, research, etc, are interchangeable meaning you can substitute 2 points in research for 2 points in morale on the set up screen before you start a game. The only stats that never change is a civs logistics/miniturization bonuses. The yor have the largest miniturization and logistics bonuses out of all the civs. Is there any reason for this? Are there any "below the hood" advantages/disadvantages to any of the other civs? I have noticed that the majority of the players in the top ten on the metaverse are Yor players...

Can any one explain why one wouldn't play the Yor if one was only concerned in playing the most effectively?

I didn't think any of the civs started as any ethical alignment, you only got one when you researched xeno ethics. Correct me if i'm wrong here though.

In my current game, I made evil decissions early on. I declared war on a minor race because again they put tones of influence bases in my territory (I hate this). Anyway, the Yor immediatly thought I was awsome for this. I allied with them quite easily. Then I noticed that everyone hates the Yor. Not the greatest of allies.

Monk: Every race has a tendency towards a given alignment, meaning they start out with a certain "ethics point level" that matches an alignment, so when you research Xeno Ethics it'll likely be a little easier to get that alignment.

Zenicetus: The Drath have Good tendencies, actually.

Corrected...... all of them do!

Some start off evil, some start off good and some start off neutral!

Yes, the Thalans have a PQ 15 planet in their home system - but no other habitable planet.

This is, unfortunately, not always the case. Last game I played Thalians on a medium map, I got a class 10 homeworld with a class 12 secondary planet in my system - not that I am complaining!

Thank you for the clarification! To my knowledge however, the information that civs start with a certain ethical alignment isn't even readily available anywhere, which is surprising. I can remember back to my old GalCiv 1 days and recall that the Drengin were pure evil and the Torians Chaotic Good, but what about new players who never played the first Gal Civ? And what of the Thalans and Iconians?

It is readily available when you start the game and look at your civilisations ethics...... that's where I found this out.... but I get what you are saying - a table in the manual and a note on the civ select screen would help.
