Not sure if this would help, but you might set both of your refresh rates to the same setting.

Keep in mind that there are many different types of 5200s out there. I have run the game with almost no problems on this card, though I did have to turn the anti-aliasing down so the videos would play properly. Even on lower settings the game looks good. You might update your drivers as well.
You can manually change your preferences in the prefs.ini file. It is located in the mygames\galciv2\ folder. If you still can't fix it, can you post your debug.err file? Both can be opened with wordpad or notepad.
This Link may or may not help.

Please post your debug.err file. It's in your galciv2 folder and can be opened with wordpad or notepad. Just copy and paste the entire file, thanks. Hopefully we can get you going.
My Games\GalCiv2\prefs.ini Open it with wordpad or notepad and save any changes. I have no idea about the SLI configuration, but you should definitely check your debug.err to make sure that the game is running at the same resolution as your desktop. It may not fix your problem, but you have given conflicting reports about what is running in which resolution and your debug will show for sure. Maybe just launch the game again and re-post your debug.err?
Can you describe what is happening right before the CTD? It might be related to your sound drivers, and I think this Link contains your latest drivers. Also if you think it might be a graphical problem you could try running the game in the same resolution as your desktop a
Can you post your debug.err file please? Maybe we can help you get it working
if you use IRC you can try getting one of them live irc.stardock.com
Have you tried anything mentioned in this link ? Here's search results for " registration ." Maybe something in there will help.
My knowledge in this area is limited. If you don't have this file, then that would help explain why it's not working. You might try a search on the left before reinstalling, but that is probably what it will take.
EDIT: Well it worked this time, heh.
Mine is in the GalCiv2 folder. Looks something like this on my PC: C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\sig I haven't actually deleted the sig.bin, so not entirely sure what will happen. The dev posted that it can help though, so I expect it should wipe all your reg. info and just prompt you as if it were a fresh install. Please post whether or not this fixes it so I can suggest it (or not) to others.
LOL, sorry about that. I have no idea about laptop audio. Someone else I helped with sound issues had quite a few links related to drivers for cards that are no longer supported. Hopefully you can find something that works. Links should all be in the second post from the bottom: Link
You must have just missed my post to your problem in the other thread, here's a reprint: I'm not sure if this is related, but you might try deleting the sig.bin file and repeating the registration process. Here is a link to another thread with a problem similar to yours: Link <
Have a look at these: Memory problems Memory fragments Tried it - bumping your own thread does not bring your post to the top (someone else has to do it) - I tried it... That is news to me, hmm.

So it is still freezing on you, or CTD? Also, could you try increasing your page file size and defragging your HD like I mentioned yesterday? They may be unrelated or irrelevant, but it might do the trick.
Can you post your debug.err file and what is happening right before you crash?
Hmmm, you might read through this Link and see if that pertains to your situation. I'm not real savvy on the SID matching errors, sorry.
Hmmm, go into your prefs.ini file found in your My Games\GalCiv2 folder. Make sure your resolution didn't get messed up somehow. Change these two lines to read: DisplayWidth=1024 DisplayHeight=768 ...if they don't already. Don't forget to save. EDIT: <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF39
Can you post your debug.err please?
Hmm, I somehow think this will be 'fixed' shortly. You might want to edit your original post so metaverse gamers/haxxors don't abuse it.
So the crashing-on-autosaving issue is known? Well I'm assuming it's related to the same save game and memory issues mentioned in these threads: Memory problems Memory fragments
