Driver Version: 6.14.0010.8443 Driver Date: 4/5/2006 01:03:00 To clarify, those are the latest and most recent (beta) drivers from nVIDIA. You might have solved your problems without changing them at all, but either way glad it seems to work now.

They are working on the saving/memory issue. A temporary workaround would be to disable autosaving from the options menu until it is fixed. I'm assuming your crashes are all happening during autosaves part way into a game because of your debug.err and the known issue that is currently being worked on. Are you talking about Stardock Central? Just checked the properties for it, and it is accessing this target: "C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\loader.exe"
...might be that the game is generating corrupt save game files, or possibly it's a null-pointer access in the save game loading code... I think this dev post supports this idea, and I think that it is causing some memory issues as well: Link
The memory issue is being addressed by SD this week, so hopefully you will be straightened out soon. There is a thread directly related to this, but I have forgotten to bookmark it. You should be able to run the game fine with your current specs. My post was simply to help optimize your gameplay if the problem was related to slow and "jerky" game issues.
Posted reply in this Link Double posting will not get you any more attention though, just bump your first thread as this one should be locked.

Actually you can run a Page File on all your hard drives. You should be able to triple your virtual memory I also prefer the zoomed out view over the 3D option usually. Hopefully the defrag and VM increase will help you with anything not directly related to the game code. <TD class="mb-Body-Quote-
Hmm, I checked and am surprised SB's latest driver dates back to 03. I didn't mention anything about your video drivers, though you might try turning off the anti-aliasing in addition to the other things I mentioned. Just trying to give you options to try, how did the other things help?

Maybe taking off the side panel would help then as well, until I can get around to getting 1.1? If you are crashing from overheating I doubt that it would be enough heat reduction, though it's possible. Why on earth would you put off the 1.1 patch though, it is a really quick download and painless from my experience. I downloaded and installed th
Mortibus, I posted a response to your debug.err just a few minutes ago in the other thread you posted in. This debug.err here with the memory issues might indicate you are having a similar memory problem that others are having and that the devs are currently fixing.
Glad that worked. I've not actually seen anyone post about refresh rates fixing an issue as they match up 99% of the time. I looked for about 20 min. for drivers and it seems the manufacturer is responsible for driver updates. If you can't get HP to support your audio, and you still want to work on it, then I'd advise getting a cheap dedicated audio card from wal-mart or something.

If it is just slow game performance it is probably due to your lower end system specs and gfx card. Some things you can try: -Incr

How do I change the windows language? I've been playing without textures, and I would love to finally see the game as it was meant to be seen... Microsoft FAQ excerpted below: <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-Quote-Ta
Your debug.err file is created in your GalCiv2 folder after running the game. It can be opened with notepad or wordpad. Just copy and paste the entire file here. I believe the devs are already working on some sort of save/memory fix for v1.2 as people are reporting similar issues. EDIT: See link above LOL
I see three things you can try until you hear back from SD: 1) Update audio drivers if possible 2) Run with anti aliasing turned off 3) Run in full screen mode Do you have same problem after trying these? If any of these do help, I'm betting on the AA setting.

Any Ideas on where to get a newer Audio Driver. No promises, but try this HP drivers link.
Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you simply select Windows XP. Keep in mind that with drivers you can roll them back to your previous version if it doesn't work. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class
Can you post your debug.err info please? If I read your post right, the crashes correspond directly with your auto saves every 6 turns? You might try disabling the auto save feature in the options menu if that is the case and just manually save.
