Not eventually! NOW! NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!!!! I already paid for this game, I want stuff NOW!!! OMG NOW! I paid once, so all my demands must be met without me ever paying again! You already got my cash!! NOW! NOW NOW! There. Now how silly was that? On another note, can you set up Visiting Day over at Stardock so I can make out with all of you? I love this game.

You have instant access to the technologies unlocked ONLY in that tech. You can use whatever it unlocks right away and is considered fully researched. There is only one caveat here that I found when I first started playing - some techs are absolutely useless without their prerequisite. For example, if you purchase/trade Plasma Weapons off of someone without ever having put a point into beam weapon technology, then you're by no means at a l
Er.. that should read "My discussions with ambassadors revealed that the other civs were working on missiles", not mass drivers.
I'll add something here that I wanted to share. It doesn't help anyone at all (unless you're looking to find a new playstyle), but I think it's a fun story regardless. Galaxy Size: Medium Everything but anomalies: Normal Anomalies: Common (I think) AI: Normal No. of Civs: 8 + 2 minors (discovered over exploration) My Civ: Yor Collective After several failed startup games to see what the AI on Normal would
Well, the moral dilemma choices DO affect your overall alignment standing. I like to think of the ethics research tech as kind of like a nice little lie you can tell other civs. It's almost like a political party in the sense that you're announcing you're taking a different moral stance - even if it's a lie. I never waste time on it anyway since I always play like an evil bastard.
Okay, for the devs, I figured out the exact problem that needs to be fixed: When loading a game after playing a previous one (could be from the same map - it doesn't matter), the treasury and population counter in the bottom-left corner doesn't update correctly. The actual values are still the ones that were saved, so it's not an actual change to the data and after a single turn or an action, the counter will normally correct itself. It's
No sequels! Let's not saturate a great success. Let Stardock churn out some other ideas before they mess with adding a new number to GalCiv. They're already working hard at tweaking 2. I like to think that Stardock is one of those little dudes who really made it on their own (just like Lil' Brudder! awwww... he's such a trooper! - btw, love the St
This may only be when loading games from the last patch, but I noticed that on my current game, every time I load, the amount of cash in my treasury radically changes. As I was mostly loading my old games to export ships to the new version, I noticed that sometimes the treasury from the previous map would carry over onto the new one. At one point, I had suddenly gained 2000bc out of nowhere. I'm going to try starting a new map and then loa
One of the minor races that I've encountered is female (or incredibly androgynous, if not) - the Caranoids (or however you spell it). While it WOULD be nice to see females represented in the game, I don't think that it's necessary at all. Their lack of presence doesn't break the game. The planetary populations don't just grow on their own, you know, and even one of the quarterly reports make fun of the rate at which the population grows (calling it
Well the minors in this particular game (the dark yor and caranoidsdsaicarinoi?) already have the highest tech rating out of every known civ. How's that right? haha Nobody wants to trade with me either unless it's a bum deal, so I'm playing completely on the defensive right now.
I'm really happy that Stardock is getting noticed both critically and commercially. You guys deserve it after 2 years of obviously hard work. I just hope you don't make so much cash that you bring in a textbook jockey who knows nothing about games and subsequently breaks your business. Names will not be mentioned.
How is it that almost every civ has built a super-project (econ. capital) within 30 turns of my game? That's from ground 0, no reloads, etc. Am I missing something? Are they spending their entire treasury on getting their planets going faster?
The Mon Calamari cruiser could probably built using the more bulbous basic hulls (like Yor) and simply stacking objects until you can start fine tuning with smaller objects. Remember, most of the cooler ships you've seen here use several clever ways of arranging the standard parts to simulate a single hull. Don't be afraid to alter hardpoints, either. The Close Encounters one could probably faked using the wheels and large versions of the dishes that you'll see in the generic styles
These ought to be linked somewhere in the "Databanks" page. Prolly not gonna happen, but there's my vote.
Had it the other way round a couple of days ago - the Drengin surrendered to the Torians. I was definitly amused by this. Holy crap, I'd love to see a screen of that. It's just so unfathomable, haha (he said as he surrounded the Drengin with IP starbases).
Depends on how many I have existing already. If I have a string of planets that are pumping out medium-class ships in under 10 weeks, i usually don't bother putting starports on low PQ planets. On the flip side, if it's early in the game, I put a Starport on low PQ planets until I don't need them anymore. Then I demolish 'em and throw up research or something.
Le chat est sur la chaise, la souris est sous la table, et la singe est sur la branche!! - Eddie Izzard I can understand French (mostly), but damned if I know how to respond in it. Conjugation and all that blows my mind. It's been something like 10 years since I've taken a class? In any case, another language would require a huge localization team, wouldn't it?
Grats to Stardock. Proof that the little guys can beat the billion-dollar-budget flops. I'd also like to mention that a lot of what I love about this game leading up to and after its development is the amount of information that the devs and community make available. There is so much interaction here that you don't get from other, more corporate companies. No overzealous mods saying "you can't say bad stuff about our game," makes a huuuuge difference to me. The greatest thing is i
Suits don't know a thing about gaming 'cause the only kinda game they play is politics. Pfft. Let 'em hang onto their statistics. I'm so glad Stardock took everything into their own hands and proved that the higher-ups in distro companies know jack about the community.
What are you using to take screenshots?
never mind. found them. But it DOES recommend 5gigs of ram (might wanna get rid of that extra 6).
That's really cool! It never occured to me to do something like that. Oh man, there goes another few hours into the designer. Awesome idea! Looks great, too.
It might be a good idea to put the minimum requirements on the front page. I'm trying to see if my friend's PC can run it and I'm having trouble finding the info. Maybe I'm just blind. haha
Is there an in-game screenshot button?
In my entire first game, the Drengin and the Terrans worked together the entire time, trading tech, trade routes - even coming close to an alliance had I not stomped on the Terrans. Talk about hypocrisy!
