A pictorial history of the Templar Navy

A pictorial history of the Templar Navy

(ship screenies)

Shown here is the Terranova class battleship Invincible, along with most of Taskforce Beta, just after sucessful fleet action off Dark Yor. The Terranova was designed with ancient naval lines in mind, as seen by the sweeping bow and tiered super-structure.

Two Sabres from Taskforce Alpha engage heavy elements from an Altarian fleet. The Banshee class cruiser Martin is shown in the background. The venerable Terranova class Battleships Redoubt and Repulse provided heavy fire in the opening stages of the engagements, significantly weakening the Altarian cruisers, even causing heavy fire in one ship (shown by the heavy pall of smoke erupting from the mid-section of the Altarian light cruiser).

Banshee class cruisers, Westerfeld and Iversonia in action with Taskforce Gamma near Artimis IV deep inside Altarian terrirtory. Pictured in the background is the Terranova class Battleship, Renown.

Ares dreadnaught class Templar with Taskforce Gamma in action off Altarian planet Martzia. The Terranova class Battleship Renown and a Banshee class cruiser can be seen in the background. The Templar is the Navy's flagship and is shown here firing a salvo from 3 of its massive phasor arrays. The Ares class is a larger more powerful design based on the same lines as the Terranova.

those ships looks awsome . I wish I had the raw talent to design ships like those in a jiffy. Btw, wont it be kewl if galciv2 can hose a design the best ship/hull contest. Then with all the top ship design, they can release a special Ship design bonus pack for us all to download. Or better yet, have an expansion pack that focus on a huge array of ship selection. Maybe even with some new background game and battle music to go along with it

But I would really really like the extra components... Can I pay a supplement to get an upgraded version?

Some way to get access to those would be nice. I could care less about the other stuff (except for maybe the theme, but I haven't seen any screenshots of it, so I can't say whether I'd want it or not), but I'm always for having more stuff in-game.

rogerano, i'm curious, are you using a lower ambient lighting setting to get those cool lightts or are they on default and your ships were in a planet's shadow?

oh and frogboy, is there any way for us to pass ship designs to each other, it would be cool if the rest of us not so creative people could play with nice toys such as rogerano's ships hehe

Sharing ship designs shouldn't be that hard...

Just a couple of xml files.

Closeup of the Sabre.

Next generation fighter. The TDF-20 Halberd.

Frontal view of the Terranova.

Not very flattering screenshots. Will get some more when I have time.

Rogerano, have you taken a look at mine, yet, by the way?

Great work buddy. Keep it up, and keep posting the good stuff here. More people inspired to use the ship designer = more feedback SD will receive = more extra components and more support and features for the ship designer. SD are on to a winner with this part of the game and we can help make it ever better, which is cool if you ask me!

I think my ambient lighting is only very slightly lower. I'm not sure ya see because I fiddled with it a bit and couldn't remember the default setting, so I left it where I thought it complimented my color scheme the best.

And stay tuned. The Templar Navy has more goodies on the drawing board including an updated Halberd and a new cruiser to compliment the Banshee. As the Altarian Interference Coalition is ground beneath the Emporers heel like so many ants, his Navy will need some more diversely armed ships to deal with the Drengin and possibly the humans.

hehe very cool. Any chance you'd be willing to share those designs with the rest of us? I want to play with those ships so bad

Sure I think I can do that. I will put together a zip file when I get home and upload to the metaverse library. I will include base designs only; devoid of engines, modules, and weapons / defense. I think you will need to choose the Drengin appearance if you want to use them though. And remember that you need to research the appropriate hull technologies in order to use some small, and all medium, large and huge hull types.

Or you could have a crack at trying your own hand at ship design. It's fun and rewarding. If you're not happy with the way something is going, just start again.

for those of us ignorant of metaverse, would someone mind telling us how we would go about logging on and getting these designs?

Click the Metaverse tab on the top left of the page, then click the Library tab / button.

You should see mods from "all categories" listed, and you don't even have to be logged on.

It seems that right now rogerano hasn't posted his designs yet though.

That's correct. They wont be up for at least another 6 hours.

I have to say two things.
One, you stole my ship name (Halberd)
Two, you can keep it, yours looks cooler

Wow, absolutely amazing!

These are definitely inspiring to me, makes me wanna run home and try my hand at it again!

Thanks for the pics, excellent work!

1) I can't seem to upload a mod. Get some ASPX errors when I try.
2) The design files will be obsolete when the new patch comes out
3) Can I work around that?

frogboy answered this concern:

Ships from a saved game should work fine.

So just load up a saved game, mess with the design, then save it again.
