What image button? I don't have one and just end up using html to insert the images That works, too. But where you enter your comments for any particular thread, point your eyes upward above the text box. There's an easy-to-use 'Image' button for those who want to embed without having to use

On one of my games, the Snathi had several troop transports. I never saw them in action, but I'm wondering if they go through full-on invasion.

A lot of the time, there's simply nothing to do on a turn. Most of the time unless you're in a war, you're going to be sitting around waiting for build orders to be completed on social and military production. You don't really need to accomplish much on each turn and at times, sometimes it's prudent to simply jam on the turn button to speed up some important research or something. I find the best thing to do if you're waiting around and ending turns with nary an action, is to period

Oh. My bad. I'm sure there's a way to edit the xml files to change the current set-up for a given game, but I don't know anything about that. I haven't even tried futzing around with DesktopX to custom-interface the game.

I've only encountered 3 unique minors in the 5 or 6 games I've played so far. The Caranoids showed up only once, and the Dark Yor and Snathi (squirrels!) have appeared in almost every game I've played.

It kind of makes sense anyway (for upgrades). A fleet wouldn't stop while a member of its outfit is being re-outfitted with new components. It would either disband, leave it behind, or wait for it to catch up and rejoin the fleet. Remember that upgrading any ship renders it useless while it's being worked on (try not to do it when far from home) and makes it completely vulnerable. A fleet, on the other hand, is an organized military force that requires combat-effectiveness. No good having a

We weren't sure users would use it. Frogboy, I hope you weren't one of the naysayers. If you were, well... do frogs wear pants? haha But I'm glad the ship design made it into the game. For some reason, there's a tremendous amount of satisfaction when you build something that looks cool and then make it tromp your pathetic enemies

It's already there, dude. When choosing your race, you'll see tabs after you initially select the race. The first tab is like an overview thing, and then the next tab is abilities. The tab after that (I think) is your political party, and the tab after that is where you can set up the aesthetics of your race including basic hulls, color scheme, and interface scheme.

Well, if you're taking them too fast, you gotta exert some self control. I know it can be exciting to just get in there and pump turns like nobody else, but the game's gotta like it, too, y'know. Try thinking of other things to help you make your turns last longer. Use the extra time to explore your own empire and try new things. You never know - there may be something that you've never experienced in a turn before simply because you were just rif

could someone please spell out exactly what format I need to use to get the pictures to show on these forums Save your images to .jpg format and have them hosted somewhere where linking directly is free (www.imageshack.us). Yeah. I gave my Yor bonuses in military and social production AND gave them industrialist. I chalked it up to the fact that they were created and this particular sect/caste/whatever of Yor were once the worker bees and have now taken control for themselves. Muhaw. Actually, I just came up with that. I really just enjoy kicking ass.

1. Pizzazz 2. Authenticity 3. Gameplay requires it (Tototot's post) 4. If you make good use of 'em, they can be life-saving obstacles if you're trying to out-maneuver the enemy. I don't see how it's so tough to suspend disbelief about uninhabitable planets (when it's not even far-fetched) when not a single person has a problem with ships being able to travel only on one plane.

There was an internal debate about that? Wow. All the naysayers should be pantsed and tied up in front of the office.

The reason why anything is stored in My Documents at all is because of the way XP's infrastructure is designed. Remember that XP and pretty much any Windows-family product since... well, I suppose since after ME... is account-based, regardless of whether or not you want it to be. Even if all you ever use is the built-in admin account, the account still needs to retain its own profile for security purposes. Natch, since nobody knows how you're going

C'mon now, anyone? Is there an easier way to take screenies other than PRNTSCRN, alt-tab, and paste into an image program? Is there any way to allow for some sort of screen shot directory that saves screenshots? Aye. There's a link somewhere (search for 'screenshots') that I don't know, or you can go

I like to dump no-engine scouts into space (no maintenance) and have them surround budding starbases. As far as I can tell, it's effective at keeping the AI from developing it short of starting a war with me just to get their constructors by. That, or I'm not paying close enough attention.

God damn, I miss that show. I don't wanna see a new season 'cause the movie punked my favorite characters.

It's not a bug, but an adjustment. A minaturization tech shouldn't give you the ability to create low-hp battlecruisers on tiny hulls. What happens is that the cargo space of the hull gets bigger, but to keep you from over-loading with low-tech, the slight increase in size helps you focus your attention elsewhere. In short High-Minaturization + High-Weapons = kick-ass zip fighters

You really should start from the ground up instead of just re-organizing a GalCiv1 guide. A lot of GalCiv1 strategies can be thrown out the window due to significant changes in the AI. *shrug*

I have had very few problems with GalCiv2. At the very most, I get a rare CTD after hours of consecutive play. Other than that, most of the stuff I'd complain about is cosmetic (mostly hardpoints - you can flip and rotate... but only one one axis!) at best. Of all the games I've bought over the past few months (is it me or did Jan/Feb suck for releases?), GalCiv2 is second only to COD2 in terms of bug-free running.
