Odd... you would think there would be an actual game option *Don't Show Movies*. The code has got to be there to not show them cause if you don't download them they aren't there to show. Maybe it should be one of those *quality of life* fixes they make in 1.2.

I certainly wouldn't be opposed to them displaying the cost. If nothing else it would help new players get abetter idea of what is valuable. For vets it really adds nothing since I already know the value in terms of trading for most of the tech tree .
In terms of colonizing yes they are. They are coded to be that way. Also I think they get a population growth bonus which helps them colonize faster without draining their planet's population. I for one am enjoying the new AI in what are we on now B4A? Got my *** handed to me yesterday by 5 intelligent opponents but mostly it was my own dumb mistakes based on older AI patterns. So I've dropped a diff notch to get a feel for what to expect. Once I
I may be wrong but I think the OP meant to say that he'd rather the AI use a fleet manager on its planet so he can swoop in and wipe out the fleet and still have MPs left to move on to say the next planet in the system. That being said again as with all things in this game there are multiple viable solutions to the same type of problems. I tend to build fleet managers on planets that I want the AI to think twice about attacking. I've noticed in the latest beta that it will make a be
For me I use standard if I know I will win. I use mini soldiers if I think it will be close and I want to know I'll win. I use mass drivers if I think the AI has a huge advantage in terms of numbers or soldier rating. I use Tidal if I want to wipe the planet clean so I can trade it to someone else after I conquer it. I've only used information a couple of times.
Agree 100%. I'm also one of those gamers that plays games to escape from my real world life so the AI is very important. Nothing shelves a game for me faster then when I figure out what the AI is going to attempt to do and can counter that on like turn 2. Honestly the game mechanic is pretty good as it stands right now. What I would really like to see are just tweaks to some existing screens. For example the Colony tab in the Civ Manager
I for one would buy a ship pack for $9. That's one lunch out at TGI Friday's not including tip so really a small price to pay. Or two coffees at Starbucks. And so what if it is 25% of the original cost of the game. I'm all for Stardock making more money which means we've all got a greater chance at continuing to get other updates for free. Not to mention the fact that more money for Stardock means future games too. Any chance at getting
See ya... don't let the door smack ya on the way out. Seriously these AI posts crack me up. Frogboy even admits that the AI still has a long way to go in terms of it's military strategies. But it has certainly improved from what I've seen over the last few beta versions of 1.1. We are not talking HAL9000 here people which it sounds like a lot of folks went into this thinking they were getting. I guess we need to stop saying the
By move on I meant that at some point you've got to declare things as *done*. Believe me this is something that plagues a lot of programmers and most if not all artists. Nothing is ever quite the way you want it so you just continue to tweak and change and add and modify until you realize you missed your release date by years. The stacked ship movement bug while annoying could be something that is buried in layers of code. Its painfully o
I guess I'm a little more forgiving of what I term *sequence* flaws then most. Yes I've run into the click a ship and it moves two ships bug but for the most part once I figured out what was going on I simply stopped doing the sequence of clicks that cause it. Therefore I don't see it as a major problem because I no longer have it. Oh and I do have things that the game does that annoy me. For instance I play the game almost exclusively in strategic view orientated in such a way tha
sure everyone has an opinion but some things are obvious flaws which is what i was pointing out.. for instance im sure the devs are aware and probably arent happy with alot of the problems which is why they are patching .... the difference between 1.0x and beta 1.1 is fairly dramatic so that implies the devs dont simply choose th
I played the original MoO briefly before discovering MoO2. That game has been on every computer I've owned since. But you know something? My present computer will be the last. Why? GC2 . Whether or not it is better boils down to simple personal taste. For me personally I like GC2 more then I ever did MoO2 for this simple reason: No Doomstars. MoO2 always
No 6 out of 5 would have been very generous. This cracks me up. Opinion people. Everyone has one myself included. Could things be better? Well define better. I always find it amusing when in my own job I design an interface for something that I think is spot on and then someone comes along and tells me its *too confusing*. And by that they mean to say *hey how come this button isn't here?*. Guess what. Not every one thinks the same o
Aye they don't give a 5 out of 5 unless the game is really outstanding in its genre. Personally I expected them to give maybe a 4 out of 5 and nit pick about multiplayer or something. But to give it 5 that's awesome. As always you guys deserve all the good press you can get
fsk+: Goto the mod section of the website. You'll see a button that says Add. This will allow you to upload the file and put it into the appropriate category.
Wait... a cliffhanger?!??? You give us a cliffhanger... Dude... you can't do that. There has got to be a law or something against this cruel and unusual treatment. Now to hit refresh every 30 seconds to see if the journal has been updated.
What difficulty are you playing on? Try the game on *Tough* with all nine races and then come back and tell us they are all the same. Seriously constructive comments are one thing even if they are negative. But broad generalities about things that most of us know are unfounded just makes you look silly to say the least. I haven't played Civ4 because it is the same as Civ3 which was the same as Civ2 which in my mind was the best of the ser
Hmmm... could be my RAM then. I do only have 640 MB. Only ... that's a laugh actually. I remember when 16MB was a monster rig . Also my CPU is a P4 1.4 GHz. So long as what I'm seeing would be typical for my system specs I'm fine with it. I just go get a drink or something while it is loading. One of these days I'll have the money to upgrade <img src="http:
Balance balance balance... hey did I mention you want to balance things? Seriously there isn't a *magic bullet* here in terms of what you should research. The advice I generally give and follow myself is more of a *what does my empire need NOW?* approach. That is if I'm lacking in industry I research factories. Lacking research then I go for lab upgrades. Beyond the 1 laser and 1 defense tech just to have little 1/1 ships defending my co
It must really be a pain in the neck I can certainly understand why very few if any indie titles release retail expansions. For me personally downloaded a $19.95 expansion would be no biggie but I'm sure people with only dial up would rather be able to get a CD. Obviously you guys will make the desicion that makes the most sense from the business side of things. Going to be interesting just to watch to see how it plays out <img src="http://images.st
I don't think it's a bug so I'll put this in the normal game talk area. Anyway I noticed in the patch notes for v1.1b4 that is says save game load times are much much faster now. My question is compared to what? My load times are upwards of three minutes or more for a game that is on a huge galaxy map with 4-6 AI opponents, abundant stars and everything else set to common. Is this normal? Just curious what others see in terms of save game load tim
Also which version of the game are you running? The original release version had a bug that would cause it to crash when it tried to recover from alt-tab. This was fixed in 1.0x I believe. However yes it does take a good bit of time to return since the game has to reconstruct all of the game surfaces lost in the alt-tab. You can wait upwards of two minutes or more I think depending on how much was lost.
Every situation is unique and both strategies in terms of ship sizes work well. With a high enough miniaturization level you can build small hulls that have 50+ space in them. That is almost as large as cargo hulls start out at. So it's unfair to say that you must build larger ships to get more weapons. My last game I had small hulled ships doing upwards of 40+ points of damage between my military bonuses from resources and weapons tech. Three res
Yep but anything other then what Fingers did (which I'm glad worked out for ya) would require the devs to alter the code. Since his original request was for a mod I think the solution is fine. Personally I've never had the need to build the old buildings but I certainly understand the reasons why you might want the option if nothing else.
As with all wish lists you really need to temper them through the idea that *yeah that's great but can the AI do it too?*. It's really easy to say add things like carriers or planetary destruction but for the most part these things are not there now for specific reasons. All I want out of the next revisions are improvements on what is already here. They've already said that espionage improvement is something coming in a future expansion pa
