I do NOT get industry or econ techs too early since I like to be able to have a reasonable chance at buying a few factories early. Industry has the unfortunate advantage of giving you some pretty important starbase upgrades as well as just factories.

Perhaps the Shrinker should be a Galactic and not a small Wonder? No, the game should simply work correctly. If you capture a planet where someone has built a small wonder, it should disappear. Or, failing that, be non-functional. It's a bug, plain and simple.
probalby take the cash and buy his own moon on some abandon planet and live in luxery for the rest of his life Right up until the New Iconian Death Squad catches up with him and incinerates him for crimes against New Iconia.
Are we even discussing the same game? While I can't say much for the species art designs or the background story of the galaxy, the races do behave very differently. And they all do get significant bonuses. (for the most part). You always know when the Torians are around because they probably play the colonization game better than any other AI. While the Drengin aren't the best early-game players out there, if they get off to a pr
Isn't there a racial bonus to miniturization that can be selected at startup? No. Well, not one you can select (unless this changed in 1.1). However their weapons bo
It would be nice to know what exactly is going on here, so -- at the very least -- one might be able to re-evaluate the worth of the soldiering ability, amongst other things. It's called, "Allowing a 1,000 population invasion to kill 5,000." Without it, you'd be getting closer to 1:1 ratios, which wou
All I want are no multiplayer and improved diplomacy options. Mainly being able to demand tribute or other threats. Also, I'd like to be able to actually find out if someone paid someone to go to war with me or other such diplomacy tricks. Who's trading tech with whom. Etc. Oh, and of course, more intelligent AI. <TD class="mb-Body-Quote-
Is there a way to build a lower class building than your highest researched level? No, there is not.
The game already has a pretty strong attacker bias (attacking ships fire first). So it's really no surprise that defensive buildings are virtually useless.
Or...why play with any race other than the Torians who have logistics 8? Because the Yor have +25 miniturization, and can therefore colony rush like nobody's buisness?
Our second poll is going to ask that question outright: Would you recommend Galactic Civilizations II to others? The ultimate "has the game met your expectations" poll so to speak. Isn't the question kinda "preaching to the choir" so to speak? I mean, the vast majority of people who will see this poll
those who are working on it don't even know the basics of game software design. First, let us consider the fact that you can't even take the time to use capital letters in your post. In general, that's enough to disregard you out of hand. Second, I seriously doubt that programmers who don't
If the Drath choose the Neutral alignment, then they get the effects of the terraforming techs without having to actually research or build them. Which means that they can build on squares that, to others, are unbuildable. In theory, if you take one of these worlds, then you will see a building on unusable land.
I was surprised how poorly the print game magazines came out. All of them combined came out to only 6%. Not surprising. People who actually bother with print game magazines for information about upcoming games are not very likely to use the internet for such information (generally, because those who
I've transferred GC2 to 2 separate computers. However, in both cases, I used my iPod, not a disc. The archived version of the full GC2 (with multimedia and movies) is 1GB, which is too big for a CD. You could use a DVD, of course (assuming your burner supports them).
Why would you want LESS graphics? So that you can clearly see what's going on? I tried playing on non-icon mode, and I couldn't zoom back out fast enough. Strategy games are not meant to be 3D.
Ah! So when I add a module to upgrade one of them, the bonuses from the module are _also_ empire wide? Once again, only for resource starbases. These are starbases you build on galactic resources, not the regular Influence/Military/Economic bases. The latter only have a specific area of effect, and t
heck out their population. Fast pop growth = a ton of pop = insane influence. Population doesn't affect influence.
I know this is fairly widely known, but I wanted to make sure that it was properly logged so that it could be fixed. I did a search, and I didn't find the bug on this forum, so I wanted to make sure it was known. Basically, the PQ increase racial ability is not terribly useful, and is probably broken. All it does is increase a planet's PQ rating; it doesn't create new tiles for use by the player. The PQ rating is useful towards mo
Maybe, but I'd still prefer that the Planet Quality ability be fixed. So that it could actually be worth 3&8 points.
It's called max hp for a reason. If you want higher HP, put points into starting max hp. If it's passing through to an area within it's range yes. Otherwise, it's completely stupid. M
Do you know of any commercial PC games made with C#? I'm pretty sure I said 5-10 years. Not right now. Secondly, it's LGPL which precludes us from using it <
I want to stress something that many people don't know: The GalCiv II AI is NOT SCRIPTED. Maybe it SHOULD BE As tech trees go, yours isn't exactly complex. In fact, it isn't even a tech tree; it's a
This would change things, to be sure. Can you elaborate on this? What's your source? Is this for weapons only or defenses too? It's the first I've heard of anything like this. It is a known phenomenon, and it probably has something to do with the SizeMod stat on the various weapons. But there is no in
