End game on a lot of 'empire' games tends to be an exercise in tedium. And yes, when you are building up in the early game, there isn't much to do, so End Turn is all you have. But I tend to direct my scouts to check out nearby star systems not just wander randomly, so I have a little to do. What I found annoying was in my last game I didn't build much of a military until I was well along industrially and technologicall, and the rest of the Galaxy LET ME!! Foolish creatur

NTJedi - get over it, okay? Oh, and your analogy to WoW is flawed, a good number of people solo all the time in WoW, its actually one of the things that has made it so popular, and also made Guild Wars popular, that you could play the rich content of those games without having to necessarily deal with MP. And the lack of Solo play is in fact listed as a FAILING in the D&D Online game. I've said it before, there are plenty of MP games put there. Not everything has to be al
Oh, and I would like to be able to retreat from a losing battle as well. Although it should by no means be certain. And I know its a small thing, but I'd rather the ships flew like great behemoths in Space Combat, not like WW2 fighters in a snaking dogfight.
I missed the poll too, and I would have voted "HELL NO!" Heck, I'm debating whether I would buy the ships pack. I might, I might not. I don't know. It would depend upon what exactly was there. For something I know is of no interest to me? No chance. I think it worth noting - in response to the rabid MP at the expense of SP crowd - that while 1/3 may be significant, it is not significant enough. Also the notion that hordes of people will come rushing to buy it just bec
You're all out to get me!
Like they said - Don't Feed the Trolls. But if necessary, occassionally you need to sponsor a Troll Hunt. When that occurs, the mods should change their sig lines: Be vewy vewy quiet, I'm hunting Twolls. Eheheheh!
He has an Awesome new Home where he can live with his Mom, and thinks we'll love it?
It is a complaint that some people have made, that the very free form gameplay is overwhelming. Although the game isn't as 'dispersed' as Morrowind where there were big areas of nothing . This will not make it to some people's tatses to be sure, but that is unavoidable. Personally I don't mind. If I like a game, I want to be able to play it through a couple times, but conventional RPGs are too static, you know everything that will happen after the first play through. I still
But after the dog that was HOMM4, and the ugly mutt that was the HOMM5 demo, there is still a good chance that HOMM5 will fall flat on its face - good pre-order sales or not. But in truth, it will have little to do with whether Starfarts is on the disk or not.
Oops. Heh. I wish my computer had 512 GB. What is scary, give it a few years, they probably will! I was thinking about that yesterday. My current CPU has more Register memory than my first computer had RAM (heck, they have for a long time). My last video card had more RAM than my first hard drive. And my new video card has
You know, I had similar trouble with "Knights of the Old Republic". I played the game before, with no problem. Patch it up to 1.3, then hunt down the NoCD crack for it, thats what I use (simply so I can switch games without hunting down my CDs). You own the game legitimately, so there is
I am glad I happened by this post. I was wondering whether I should get Oblivion or not, because I didn't know how intrusive the copy protection was. This post has helped me decide not to buy it. Hmm. I thought people said that Oblivion doesn't use any particulalry intrusive copy p

What is the goal of war? To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women. I thought it would be obvious.
No, Assembler would take too long to make the monstrous modern programs (also known as bloatware). Regretable, but simply the way it is. Visual Basic Felkethar? Och, poor lad. These days I mostly only get to use scripting languages myself, but at least they are stringly influenced by C so I'm not offended by them. But VB? Ick.
I would to read an interview with the developers of MOOIII just to see why they made the decisions they made. Part of it is I beleive the fault of Alan Einrich (can't be bothered to check spelling). He had a very 'unique' view of what the game should be. He created a game that
the win version of moo2, i.e. orion95.exe was pretty unstable and laggy like hell (up to minutes between turns). And I assume you tested this version. Most likely. It was many years ago. Another guy and I would link our two computers together and play, but it would periodically crash.<br
Assembly? Someone else who likes to code in Assembler!? Any time I've told people I like Assembler I get looked at like I had just told them I eat glue! I find that C++ is over engineered, too many things added that - as stated - reduce efficiency. C is a nice compromise between utility and efficiency.
Fast Travel is also handy once you've gone over a particular area a couple times and don't feel like seeing the sites any more. In the arena last night - just as a level 2 dweeb - I had a really great fight ()died once) and the second time barely came out alive. Definitely not just stand there and slash until the guy dies. Had to move around, use my shield, heal myself, etc. Yep. Definitely an interesting ride. Just
SEIV had some nice features, but as has been stated, the AI is so lame as to be useless. Even with the mods out there, the AI is never that interesting to play. This is the game you should go for if you are desperate for a MP 4X Space Conquest game. I also have no reason to believe the AI in SE V will be any better. Like Xan, I found that once you have Mines and Sats, it is almost impossible for the AI to survive your wormhole d
And also known for not having any computer AI to speak of. Indeed. SE has some nice features, but the AI is... pointless. Even with the various mods the AI was never worth the bother. If you want a MP Space Conquest game, the SE series is probably your best bet (MOO
To get the XBox version would require that I own an XBox, and have a desire to own an XBox. Neither of which is true. And before this degenerates into a PC vs. console flame war, just leave it at me not being interested in pretty much any of the XBox games. I can count on one hand the number of games that have come out on the XBox that I wanted to play, and after removing those that were also available on the PC, I'm not sure there
I've liked the screenshots, and it is a big improvement over the dull brown of Morrowind. Guess its time to buy a nice fat rig to run the few fancy games like this one that I do play.
5x? I thought this was a 4x game? I can't even remember the Xs when there are only four. eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXsomething. See? *sniffle* The developers of the horrible space conquest game that shall not be named (as it shames the name of those that came before) tried to expand the term from 4X to 5X. We all k
