I think gamers have to be pretty happy with this 'bill of rights'. Its a nice thing to have. I'd liked to have seen a comment on modability in there also though. Mods really extend the life of a game. Meaningful expansion packs would have been good too. Galciv2 had a few bugs on release, but what game doesn't. Look at Oblivion, crashes every few hours and has countless bugs but its still a great game! With regards to 'finished games', I can accept a game with bugs on release, but ther

I was trying to restore a copy of TotA on my laptop so that I could play it on that. I had originally downloaded TotA to my desktop - had archived a copy and then attempted to restore it on my laptop. I was unable to do this as it crashed with file missing errors. I attempted a full reinstall of TotA on my desktop machine, but then alas encountered the same issue. Thus I have been unable to restore TotA from a Stardock archive on both machines. The log file claims that some files

I like the SD system. This is because the only time it checks if I'm doing the right thing (which I am) is when I install or apply a patch. Other than that I'm free to play as I choose.

I have to quote this section of the article: "Well" she responded, "You didn't actually purchase the files, you really purchased a license to listen to the music, and the license is very specific about how they can be played or listened to." Now I was baffled. "Records never came with any such restrictions," I said. She replied, "Well they were supposed to, but we weren't able to enforce those licenses back then, and

I've noticed that in Dark Avatar, defenses in combat are meaningless and having say shields against beam weapons is no more effective than having nothing at all. Is this a trend others have noticed?

This feature is classic overengineering - too much in too little time. But that doesn't mean its a bad idea. I wouldn't scrap the epic generator altogether - its really cool for those of us who like to write AARs and is a really neat feature. I would change the scope so that it is managable for you to create and gives more control to the user. why not change the epic generator somewhat so that there is player has full control over what is logged via a hot key press a

The campaign is not the primary focus. Where was this implied? Note to self, never mention any expansion pack details until we're ready to release the whole announcement since people will read in all kinds of things. I apologise, I never intended to cause offense. Unfortunately the way I read events and your posts lead me to the wron

I just added a 1gb stick to my machine and it made a world of difference to my in game performance. I used to have lagged battles but now the battles are smooth as and the game performs a lot lot better. If you can afford it I'd look into extra RAM for your PC. Otherwise you are goin to have to turn off graphics options.

I think creating an expansion that focuses on a new campaign as its primary focus is a mistake. I've never been one for campaigns in TBS games, they are too constricting. I'd much rather you focus on improving the United Planets, epsionage and other game mechanics. Having other sides people incorporated into your population mean more would also be a bonus, I'd really like to see say the Drengin in my empire get upset because I was at war with them. Other cool things I'd like to see a

My combat stutters all the time as if game is playing the combat faster than it takes for it to calculate the results. I can fix it up if I adjust the combat speed so I know its not my computer... any ideas on how to fix so I play at 1x without any issues?

mmm well i tend to go for the infrastructure techs first while keeping my military technology spending moderate. For example I have xeno-ethics and alliances and none of the other races have those at all. I also have an awesome economy compared with that of my neighbours (which makes why I seem to be falling behind in tech strange). What I was using as a basis for comparison was the civ comparision charts with my nearest neighbour, the Terrans whom I am friendly with. Clearly the Te

I can't seem to keep up in technology at all even on beginner type games. All my planets have at least 2 research stations, my research is up at 50% and I even have a class 20 planet with all research stations yet I lag behind the terrans whom my cheating spying eyes reveal don't have nearly as much technology infrastructure as I do. I'm also pretty big on the tech trading scene... how is it that i am falling behind and what do I do?

nice post Draginol. I think the statistics prove your point. Overwhelmingly most people want to play single player games most of the time and not play multiplayer. However somewhat paradoxically people will often not buy a game that doesn't have it, even though its a feature they will NEVER use (or use very often). To be honest, you have created a rich and challenging game in GalCiv2 (as I have shown on my own site www.waitingto

errr before you rush out and load up the demo don't forget the homm5 demo has starforce!! So does Spellforce 2 demo! using a different copy protection scheme from demo to full version makes sense because many pirates use the demo version which has no protection to hack the full version.

I think you released the demo way too late for it to make much difference for three reasons: a) Most people who 'tried' the game tried through BitTorrent and then bought (or discarded) due to the game being protectionless. b) Most reviews took people through a great part of the game (such as the one on my own site) anyway and the high scores pretty much indicated it was a must buy by the time the demo came out. c) There is such a

Omega defense is actually very useful on border worlds where you have a fleet in orbit (perhaps for repairs?) because it means that a surprise attack on your colony faces all ships in orbit not just one at a time.
