Defenses still useless?

I've noticed that in Dark Avatar, defenses in combat are meaningless and having say shields against beam weapons is no more effective than having nothing at all.

Is this a trend others have noticed?

Threads all over about it!

i have read allot, seems as though the strategic opportunities created by the three weapon/defence types have been nerfed somewhat. Probably because the AI carn't keep up with the 3 types concept too well and or to make the game harder

In DA, unless the defense happens to be REALLY strong and is backed up by another strong defense type, it ain't worth it, period.

That's why for every 1 weapon you can mount, you can attach 3 of the corresponding defense modules.
