yessireebob. Although, custom races also start with some bonuses like that, just not anywhere near as good. I usually reset them anyway because it feels cheap to keep them.

If it's taken in invasion combat the other person now owns the right to the trade good. I once had Harmony Crystals, Ultra Spices, and Frictionless Clothing on one colony. My Approval was 75% at 80% tax rate. The yor took the planet and next turn my approval was 35%. I suffered a revolution and a third of my planets seceded. Not cool, man. I'm not sure about what happens when someone else gives it to you and then loses it though...
Kill them Faster I always have two or more wars going at the same time. It's what's needed to keep everyone on their toes.
They most certainly do... I started two wars of Aggression against both the Torians and the Iconians. As they were dying everyone else in the galaxy (that I had met, and those I just had) declared war on me. there were two alliances. the Good/Neutral (Altarian and Terrans) and the Evil (Drengin/Korx/Yor). They decided to put away their differences and focus on me, the neutral Metroid Monarchy. So I killed them! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 ALIGN=
I don't believe that they should try to prevent you from ascending. From my perspective... if one of them actually got a tech victory the game should just continue... their planets would be empty Class whatevers. Same if you win. You ascend, they get your planets. Unless you felt vengeful in your ascendance and decided to kill all the mortals. BUt that wouldn't work anyway, because once you ascend you are supposed to interfere with mortals much less than when you were a mortal. I
Maybe they can only build 1 colony ship every 5x turns where x is the average number of turns it takes every major race to build a colony ship. That way they would be able to colonize but at a much slower pace. And I've never seen them take a planet by force. Only by Influence.
We need a slider! I still haven't gotten the artifact of ultimate power one. I want to see how that turns out if I leave them alone.
Me Likey. Any chance that the stars destroyed would turn into black holes? Can't go within x parsecs of them without taking damage (structural integrity is being damaged by the vast tidal forces). Just an idea of course. I hope you Stardock folks can get the AI going on that. It would be great that when I lose a game the last thing I see is this Drengin Terror Star next to my home system's star. Then it's all over...
I had the same problem with the autosave. Sometimes my game crashes for other reasons, but that's another story... As of now, I just delete the autosave before it can save to it becasue the problem occurs when I have an autosave, and it wants to autosave again, and it has to go through the whole "PreviousAutoSave" thing. ANd it does say that "GalCiv2 has run out of memory. It will probobly crash soon." right after it has crashed. I'll try increasing my virtual memory, Ardek an
Wow... don't get TOO hot under the collar! THough I actually agree with you. The strategies in this game are varied. Once or twice I tried "seiges" but that always led to the Dreadlords killing everyone including me. So I just went out there in a blitzkrieg, sacrificing Billions of troops to steal necessary technologies from them. It was bloody,
Definitely need more anomalies. My biggest peev is the fact that wormholes are a "one-time only" kind of thing. I think that they should only collapse after a certain number of turns, have TWO ends, destablizing with each ship sent through, etc. This way you could add some extra strategic depth if the two ends are close to your homeworld and the homeworld of a war-like race like the Drengin. Changes the way you have to look at and interact with oth
New ship Modules would be nice: Reverse Engineering Lab- if a ship has one of these when it is in a fight you get a random amount of percentage reserached on the enemy's defensive and attacking technologies, and maybe also the defense for their attack (only the most basic form, shields for plasma where as deflectors for laser). No more than 50% research can be accumulated this way (it's only a starting point). However, this would al
Why then, after 1 year of gameplay, with no population growth traits or modifiers is my civilization population 225 billion people? A full 7 times the expected size? WITHOUT modifiers? THat's Kerazy?! Never played Beta so I don't have any experience with it.
Alright folks, let's see if I even posted this in the right place... prolly not. Okay, the point of this is; what type of cool ship compnents would you like to see? here are a few of mine. Technical specs are optional Surveyor - unlike the current survey module this would also be able to survey planets, showing the tile bonuses. Research Station - if this is on a ship that takes part in combat(only in the attack not
WEll, not even tough is that tough on a gigantic. I think the games are harder on smaller galaxies because if you have one less planet than everyone it's alot where as on a gigantic I'm 20 to 30 planets behind number one yet still have a stronger military, Economy, and tech base. So this "Land Grab" thing isn't quite as powerfuli in those larger galaxies. As for different types, I only played MoO2 with the toxic, barren etc. I really en

At least. Depends on what type of game and difficulty. I had a Dread Lords on Parade game on Tough where only they and the other Evil Civs were killed by me and we went deep into year 2237. I think that's around 600 turns!
Almost like a military production bonus without the extra cost, and only applies to one planet.
Amen Brothah! I find that even Kryo's Hull System Mod still makes it all funky because each jewelry is in different sections ("Your Style" vs. "Other") Either that or I was misusing it... In any case I definitely agree with you, Mithris.
Sorry folks but I know not of this Horrible Game(by that name anyway, I do have an inkling). Where would I search the internet to find out more about it's stupidity? On topic... OP, Research is my saving grace. In fact I almost entirely reverse your position. I buy techs I don't have, true. But I also sell all* my techs I do have. This allows defecit spending for quite a while if I don't buy something outright. Techs also make good
Haven't lost yet, but I am only now starting in on the full AI so that could change. What really scared me though was that on my "Dread Lord on Parade" scenario, I pushed turn, was about to name my first colony (I ever colonize Mars first) when I got the meanwhile message saying "The Dominion of Korx has succumbed to the relentless power of the Dread Lords". When you realize a race was just destroyed on the third turn you almost curse the day you wer
Just skip challenging and go straight to tough. Challenging isn't challenging enough for you probably.
I usually like to research. this last game I was the economic power house, but I didn't feel as ahead as I would have liked. anyway, usually 50% research coupled with 20% from technologists (on "very fast" tech rate this is even more crucial to staying ahead). research at 50% or more all game. If you want great diplomacy, just spend a few turns researching the diplomacy branch. In the later game when every one has it you may be behind diplomatical
Every once in a while this happens to me too. It's just a bug where one race will have ultimate influence over the whole galaxy for a few short turns (it's funny when homeworlds rebel to join the influencer even though they are across the galaxy from one another). However, this long duration of yours scares me. I hate it when I lose a planet to this bug (though I don't mind when I gain one <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif
