-Immersive tech tree, alien technologies, buildings with good sci-fi description. -Instead of standard tech trading, copy the implementation of civ5 with research agreements, and tech spillover through trade routes -More interesting random events, with more meaningful choices -No superevents which change dramatically everything in the game - Mechanics about integration or extermination upon of aliens upon planet capture Those are in my op

This journal entry is the most important i have read so far about FE and i know now that i will buy this game. I always felt that the greatest problem in Stardock games was the total lack of flavor. Galactic Civilizations 2 with its expansions was really a beautiful game but i couldn't enjoy it fully because technology, races, improvement description were so bad and bland that i couldn't find its atmosphere immersive. It's really nice to know that Stardock is trying to improve thi

Me and 2 other friends of mine have already preordered civ5. Assuming that Elemental has a good post release support which will make it a fun alternative to Civ5 and that it will be packed with an expansion at a budget price i will buy it istantly and i think my 2 friends also. What saved us from burning 50 euros on Elemental as it was released was the release of Demigod which made us wait for reviews or player feedback. I really hope that Stardock learn th

I can only be grateful to the community for their honesty. Me and 2 my friends were following the developement of this game since it was announced, considered it was such rare to see a new TBS. We just didn't buy it on Day 0 and waited for reviews and community feedback due to previous release of Demigod. That's really a shame that we have to wait this game to become a budget one or be released with an expansion at discounted price, when we are TBS enthusiasts. I reall

I haven't yet seen listed Elemental in UK. I have browsed amazon.co.uk or game or play.com but there is no way i can preorder Elemental because they don't list it.Is it just temporary or those e-shops won't sell the game? Is there also any plan to release the Collector's edition in europe?

[quote who="Frogboy"] You certainly have a right to your opinion. And I have the right to say your opinion is stupid too. Galactic Civilizations has a great deal of lore behind it too (they're in the same universe, just different times) but I doubt most would agree that the sandbox mode is broken. The races in GalCiv are all basically identical other than different BINK movies. In Twilight of the Arnor (made two years later) we finally

In my opinion tech trading could be implemented on a multilateral level. Trade Routes should not only increase money but also research (for example +1 RP on random tech available to the civ you are trading with) and culture. With civs with whom you have particularly good relations you can exchange knowledge but it should just mean an increase on RP/Turn got from Trade Routes. I agree also that battles or the conquest of enemy cities should have an effect on your tech l

[quote who="Frogboy" reply="4" id="2509324"]Elemental will have a lot of text in it. So much that I'm not certain we'll be releasing non-English versions of it except for Russian (our partner Snowball is awesome at this stuff). As for the book... Wrote a chapter today that involved a golem battling this umberdroth. The book isn't based on the game but rather the game is based on the books (originally just a series of outlines over the

One of the things which i have always disliked in TBS games is how tech trading is handled, considered that it's not only an unrealistic feature but it also unbalances the gameplay and make it more cheesy. I don't know if any of you guys remember but until later patches GC2 had some big problems with Tech Trading considered that it was so easy to take the tech lead just by trading. The no tech trading option introduced later was really welcome but it indeed impacted gameplay

1)More meaningful description to technologies and planetary improvement.More flavour (text) to races and minor races. 2)New interesting events, which are not the usual (good, evil, neutral) choices. Events which are also less groundbreaking 3)New planet surfaces skins, new portraits 4)Starbases should be strenghtened in the end game. Some new tech which give more weapons, defenses,HP and possibility to repair faster for Starbases 5)Korx AI is broken they always pe

The thing which most annoys me in TA and in general since GC2 has been released are descriptions which in some cases are somewhat stupid; considering that the immersivity factor is really important to me i wonder if there is already any mod available which changes some of the tech or planetary improvement descriptions with something more sci-fi meaningful and which is faithful to the game storyline and race flavour. If there is no mod such like that is there anyone which is already cr

I'm also curious to see what 2.0 will contain about espionage.I hope there will be missions which have a percentage to fail associated like what we saw in Alpha Centauri or Civ4: Beyond the Sword.

IMO the changes makes the game definitely better and more balanced, now you have to find the right balance between research, soc. prod. and mil. production and maintain an healthy economic system is so much harder due to mainteinance. The effects of the new economic sytem are the following: -slower initial expansion, so that the rush for planets is nearly no more an issue -filling a planet with improvements is not always economically sustainable -fielding a hug

You can change portrait to some of the minor races going to Galciv2/Twilight/Data/English/RaceConfig then you can change fo every single race the portrait they will use, changing the column "Portrait" and put into the name of the new image you want to use.New portraits are in the gfx/Race folder. For example: For Paulos i have changed the portrait writing RaceImageT6 in the "Portrait" column and RaceImageT6_Trade in the "DefaultTradePortrait" column. Hopefully i've bee

I'm simply unable to use the tech tree editor, i was expecting to see a list of every single tech and then changing costs, effects, tech requirements and so on, my problem is: I simply don't how to access that list of techs, everything appears greyed out. Any hint on how to access to Laser IV tech for example in the editor?

I completely agree with you. Both GC2 and DA are excellent games in terms of gameplay and mechanics but in my opinion developers just underestimate the immersivity factor of a game. As you say the writing in this game is honestly poor with tech descriptions which sometimes have just stupid sentences. The fact that they just don't give importance to immersivity is also proved by the fact that there are lot of minor races which share the same portrait when it would have been a lot better if

I'm playing right now the demo and to be honest the game is really underwhelming, or at least doesn't really seem comparable to GC2 in terms of gameplay. Planet management and empire management is reduced at a minimum, you just don't have the feeling that micromanagement is reduced, instead you have the feeling that all the game is about building and moving fleets. Even research system that on the forums of LE:I seemed having something special is so bland, with discoveries limited to lev

[quote] I've been pestering the Stardock devs (Kryo and Frogboy) to let me submit my new technology descriptions for review. I've basically made the descriptions much more serious, far more plausible, and even slightly more useful. They're a lot longer and verbose to be sure, but after seeing the new technology descriptions for Hyperfusion / Artificial Gravity, etc. I thought they could all use a redo. Some of them are good, some are just stupid: "Remember Basic Miniaturi
