To be honest i expected a lot more from the improved espionage promised in 2.0. It seems just a bit streamlined but it will remain as much interesting as it was before........

1)More meaningful description to technologies and planetary improvement.More flavour (text) to races and minor races. 2)New interesting events, which are not the usual (good, evil, neutral) choices. Events which are also less groundbreaking 3)New planet surfaces skins, new portraits 4)Starbases should be strenghtened in the end game. Some new tech which give more weapons, defenses,HP and possibility to repair faster for Starbases 5)Korx AI is broken they always pe
Well i'll be happily waiting for it ;)
The thing which most annoys me in TA and in general since GC2 has been released are descriptions which in some cases are somewhat stupid; considering that the immersivity factor is really important to me i wonder if there is already any mod available which changes some of the tech or planetary improvement descriptions with something more sci-fi meaningful and which is faithful to the game storyline and race flavour. If there is no mod such like that is there anyone which is already cr
I'm also curious to see what 2.0 will contain about espionage.I hope there will be missions which have a percentage to fail associated like what we saw in Alpha Centauri or Civ4: Beyond the Sword.
IMO the changes makes the game definitely better and more balanced, now you have to find the right balance between research, soc. prod. and mil. production and maintain an healthy economic system is so much harder due to mainteinance. The effects of the new economic sytem are the following: -slower initial expansion, so that the rush for planets is nearly no more an issue -filling a planet with improvements is not always economically sustainable -fielding a hug
You can change portrait to some of the minor races going to Galciv2/Twilight/Data/English/RaceConfig then you can change fo every single race the portrait they will use, changing the column "Portrait" and put into the name of the new image you want to use.New portraits are in the gfx/Race folder. For example: For Paulos i have changed the portrait writing RaceImageT6 in the "Portrait" column and RaceImageT6_Trade in the "DefaultTradePortrait" column. Hopefully i've bee
There is also Iconians which have +100% Espionage with no bonus to research when i assumed that Iconians is the Technologist race
I'm simply unable to use the tech tree editor, i was expecting to see a list of every single tech and then changing costs, effects, tech requirements and so on, my problem is: I simply don't how to access that list of techs, everything appears greyed out. Any hint on how to access to Laser IV tech for example in the editor?
Any official word if the 1.90.018 is the final version, so we should start downloading it?
I just wish that an historical background of races is implemented in the game, because it really helps enjoying more gc2.
I completely agree with you. Both GC2 and DA are excellent games in terms of gameplay and mechanics but in my opinion developers just underestimate the immersivity factor of a game. As you say the writing in this game is honestly poor with tech descriptions which sometimes have just stupid sentences. The fact that they just don't give importance to immersivity is also proved by the fact that there are lot of minor races which share the same portrait when it would have been a lot better if
I'm playing right now the demo and to be honest the game is really underwhelming, or at least doesn't really seem comparable to GC2 in terms of gameplay. Planet management and empire management is reduced at a minimum, you just don't have the feeling that micromanagement is reduced, instead you have the feeling that all the game is about building and moving fleets. Even research system that on the forums of LE:I seemed having something special is so bland, with discoveries limited to lev
[quote] I've been pestering the Stardock devs (Kryo and Frogboy) to let me submit my new technology descriptions for review. I've basically made the descriptions much more serious, far more plausible, and even slightly more useful. They're a lot longer and verbose to be sure, but after seeing the new technology descriptions for Hyperfusion / Artificial Gravity, etc. I thought they could all use a redo. Some of them are good, some are just stupid: "Remember Basic Miniaturi
I agree with the OP that tech trading on and off are both extreme and suboptimal choice. To be honest tech trading has been always a problem with GC2, when i remember that the game was totally broken due to that single feature until now where we can turn it off and in any case it has been a bit balanced. While no tech brokering would be a really nice option, i don't think that it would be as good implemented as in CIV4, because normally in CIV4 races(civs) are a lot more picky in trading
The topic title could be a bit misinterpreted as a whining, but in reality i'm really excited about this new exp pack and having race differentiated by different tech tree and planetary improvements will surely have a deep impact on gameplay. What i'm wondering is if also in other minor game features, races will be different: -Will some races have planetary invasion tactics that other races don't have? -Will some races have more espionage options?......(will espionage be more th
Thanks for the response, Kryo and LogicSequence..........as others said my only wish would be to have HRGM fully incorporated in TotA as a game option so that it would be fully compatible with Metaverse.
LogicSequence i have now seen a preview of ToA and noticed that for the expansion pack, planets look and surface are a lot better. So i wonder if your High Resolution Graphics mod has been incorporated in ToA, if yes what does 2.0 HRGM is going to add.
Civilization is the best TBS i have ever played. The last expansion pack adds lot of new features and IMO is a must buy if you like civilization4. If CIV4 after 2 years remains a good game? There are no others TBS games released(not considering wargames)that are remotely as good as GC2 and CIV4, I wouldn't certainly miss this game considering you can find it also at a cheap cost.
I'm an owner of GC2 and DA and while both games are really among the best TBS games i've ever played one of the things which really pissed me off was that tech or planetary improvement description in both games were often overlooked, so for example description of the Warp-Drive engine was "Vroooooom" which totally destroyed immersivity for me. I wonder if in TA those hurrily made tech descriptions are replaced by descriptions which are more sci-fi giving you more immersivity in the gc2 world
Unexpected but excellent news. The lack of polish both of Galciv2 and DA (mostly, minor races sharing same portraits, tech tree and tech description uninspired )was what really pulled out my interest on both game and expansion even if they were really good products. Making further distinction between races is another think i really appreciate, instead of adding more races which are more similar to others. This new approach of improving already present feature and polishing the game
What's Heightmap?
I would reccomend to buy civ4.It is a lot better than civ3 under any point of view, warfare, diplomacy, economic model and so on.Considering that civ4 will get also a new expansion in July which expand even more gameplay you'll get probably the game which is more near to the jewel which was SMAC.
I would like to see some graphic improvement. 1)New Minor Races portraits 2)new planet textures I would also like to see better description of improvements, techs, and so on, some text about races background. About game features, i would like to see tech blueprint trade instead of tech trading and Minor Races ablòe to colonize all their solar system planets
You are absolutely right.
