Bulen.... why not just start a game on intelligent and see how it goes.... that's surely a much easier answer than asking the developer to write code and release it into a future patch.

The thing is that the starbase you biult to take the planet will now defend the planet against the inevitable counter attacks. Inevitable counter attacks? Hmm.... I think this might be a difference in strategies here but the way I play tends to assure that if I am taking an AI's planets, I have alread

I didn't think any of the civs started as any ethical alignment, you only got one when you researched xeno ethics. Correct me if i'm wrong here though. Corrected...... all of them do! Some start off

ROFL!!! Sorry to laugh and poke fun... but it's e-th-ics. I can just see that funky ethnic Drengin jewellery now! Or some nice Yor wicker baskets! To get back to your point..... The Good galactic wonders are there.... as are the defensive techs. Not sure about the Neutral

A huge fleet of small hulled ships with a high miniaturisation bonus can pack an extremely deadly punch. They each get to roll against the defender. They also cost significantly less to maintain.... and as Draknost said, within range of a fully upgraded Starbase they are equal in all areas to larger hulled ships except in HP. If you can churn out 5 of them in the time it takes to build one behemoth.... sometimes the sheer force of numbers can change the tide of battle. I have a Terran ship I use

I actually just use Trade as a function to build diplomatic relations. Relying on trade income seems a sure fire way to see your economy crash if the middleman of your trade routes suddenly decides he doesnt like you.

I wonder if there's some kind of work around by copying the ship config files, renaming them etc. I think you'd probably have to make a template ship first to create the shipclass file, then copy the original ship, rename it to the same name as the shipclass file..... All total guesswork though! Never tried it as I like making my own ships!

When attacking, I tend to think that once I have the planet, that starbase has gone to waste (with the inordinate sums of money I spent building it in the first place as I probably long maxed out my free ones)..... add to that the idea that if you have built 9 or more constructors, you could have just made 9 or more attacking ships and done the job anyway. Don't get me wrong, there's a time and place for every tactic and I'm sure your idea t

I just started playing the Drengin for the first time.... I took one look at the cargo hull and thought... Mmmm Dragon! This is half an hour later - work in progress as I got tired of shifting the camera about trying to see his tail!! <img src="http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/8403/dragon23hl.jp

One way to make it a bit more difficult is to play as you were but set planets/suns to rare. This tends to leave you and all AI to just the 1 system. Some races get significant boosts through their natural homeworld PQ from it and it can make the game fairly tough with the extreme warring that occurs.

The most ridiculous find of Lucky Rangers I ever had was on one of my first games - gigantic map, probably beginner or normal difficulty. I found.... and I jest ye not.... more than 20 of these things! I was excited for about the first 8 or so but then it got a bit dull! As mentioned above, they're so damn slow, they all ended up on Starbase guard duty while I built ships that didnt use an Hampster Powered Engine. Luck racial abil

It doesn't bloody let you add more components! It does in my game! Re-read what Darth Kryo said - he explained it better than I could! My attempt: Hulls get bigger, components get bigg

I think the value of military starbases depends on the map size. On the smaller maps (Medium or lower) they are totally indispensable. You can literally take down entire enemy fleets with very basic fighters. When playing medium sized maps, I like to start my military starbase early and build it up along with my economy ones. I keep a fleet of low powered ships in defense, refitting defenses/weapons as and when I am attacked.<br/

Favourite races for me are Terrans, Yor and Thalans. Terrans because I have so many cool ships built for them and I respecced them just how I want them and feel truly on top of every situation with them. Yor because they are just awesome in the truest sense of the word. I also love starting out evil as it nets you a lot of bonuses early in the game. Their miniaturisation bonus is fantastic and they just look plain mean.

For an immediate fix in these kind of circumstances, rather than waiting for someone to spot your message and respond to it.... you could always reinstall. It might sound like a lot of trouble but it tends to resolve issues immediately. In truth though, it sounds more like page file running out - were there any error messages?

I think it's a fairly moot point. If you are the attacker, you want to have all guns. If you are the defender and you have all guns, you're dead. If you have optimalised defense against the attacker, you can survive the initial barrage, possibly with all your ships which then fire back on all those defenseless attackers. I've had many games where defenses came to play a huge role - even the AI was sporting ma

Each one is entitled to his own opinion, as far as it is expressed without insults, and I've insulted no one. The "politically correct" way of life is not my way, because often hides nothing but hypocrisy. But this is not the real point. If you scroll the posts you can see with your own eyes that a sense of delusion is growing

I am guessing that you have just zoomed out and thats being recorded between games. I am also guessing that you dont have a middle mouse button to zoom in and out. Given those guesses are right (?), you need to find the key you accidentally hit to zoom back in. That's the only idea I have given that what you said sounds like a zoomed out system (i.e. Suns are coloured and 3d and the rest are symbols)

Are there bugs? Yes Should Galciv be like MOO2? No And I disagree with most of your comparisons between the two games. On a side note. If you were given the choice which ship to choose, you would choose to target the highest possible attacker with the lowest defense (i.e. first take out the one that could do the most damage to you) - that's what this sytem does anyway, so 99% of what your choice would be under any given scenario is already done for you without the extra che

The AI also talks about your potential military. I had the Korx attack me saying that while they respected my potential military - it was just that "potential". This is because my tech was much higher than theirs but I hadn't built any ships beyond the first defender. I had a serious economy going though and switched it to full on military production and by the time their ships arrived they were asking me for peace. <img src="ht

Reply to Females in Diplomacy

In most of the animal kingdom, female is default. Males were created when sexual reproduction arose. Um...... you actually believe that there are a bunch of females of a species running round waiting for a male to evolve to mate? I don't quite know how to reply to that complete falsehood. L

Minor races absolutely litter my sandbox games. There's always at least 6 on a gigantic map. I really dont understand some of the comments in this thread. People are asking why you have to research everything again with each mission of the campaign...... you dont! Every mission you start with slightly more tech than the last one. It seems like a lot of people complaining here actually havent played them. If you carried over

I would encourage you not to spew this garbage of an advice to new players. Buying colony ships only works on small maps. On any thing medium up you need to make that initial 5k BC last a long time. I build colony ships, and have done so for a long time now. I play Huge moving on to gigantic. Wasting all your money on buy
