ARGH! It is not a BUG it is a DESIGN DECISION. Just one you disagree with. Nothing wrong with disagreeing with design and feeling it ruins the game. Just stop calling it a bug! (Note, this isn't hostility directed towards you, just this forum's desire to call everything bugs). QFT. I wish people would get a dictionary out to check w

I take it that you guys havent read today's news? https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=164&AID=106645#828060 Brad is talking about a) social waste going into military spending and military waste going into the treasury. b) Making the research slider independent from the manufacturing slider. On your points though. I personally think it would not be a good idea to have a slider for each planet. This is potentially absurd levels of micromanagement if you play on gig

Yes there are a few typos and some mismatched grammar in the absolutely MASSIVE amount of text in this game. You know what? I'm an English teacher and it doesn't bother me a bit. These errors will be hunted down and destroyed. It's just what happens when you write 200000 words. Most books have at least a couple of spelling errors.... hell, most English teaching books and student resource packs have errors. Considering books in general are only selling words (and teaching books are su

I beat this first on Beginner using a rather lame strategy by sending my initial colony ship and constructors straight to the world south east of the Yor's homeworld (dropping bases with the constructors as I ran out of range) this led to a very quick win. Playing on tough was.... hmm... tough! Eventually, the way I beat it was to buff up my soldiering ability on the race selection screen (g

Well then, sorry I cant help you. Did you look in the report to see what negative feelings they had for you? The few things I can think of is your ethics, your alarming influence, your military strength being much lower, them being militaristic, having close borders and a "we know what you are doing" (even when they dont!). If these all stacked up, then I would guess you wouldnt achieve beyond friendly but that's just a stab in the dark without knowing all the elements of the game! <img src="h

As long as you're not writing freeware, you don't have much choice in the matter. I earned that $45 by serving others, and if you'd like my next $45 and the $45 of the people I'll tell about this game, you'd do well to adjust the attitude. You're not exactly a monopoly provider. Did you take a course in being obnoxiously rude, or does it come n

If you have female AI, you can have the AI do something irrational every 4 turns.. HEHEHE.. oops, sorry.. must've bypassed my good tastes chip. R O F L I can see it now. You send the Thalan Matriarch a gift and she asks you what you are trying to hide. Once every 4 turns, all your a

Maybe a stupid question, but did you actually research Alliances and did they have it? I noticed something similar happen last night when I was a few turns away from an influence victory. I switched at the last minute to research alliances, sent them both the tech, next turn they were close and happily allied with me giving me effectively a double win when I clicked the next turn button - although only the Alliance victory video played. Other than that, I think long term peace and pro

Marioflag - I did specifically say that *they* couldn't take planets from *me*. That's a big change if you dont have soldiering bonuses where 10 troops come along and kill 8bn of your people. I wasn't really talking about invading them because for me, invading them meant crippling their planet in every way possible, using the dirtiest invasion tactics and then deleting all improvements and destroying the colony afterwards. The only way to fight a cancer is to cut it out! <img src="

Civ IV did ship with campaigns.... look harder. No it didnt. I'm afraid you are totally wrong there. Civ 3 shipped with some basic campaigns, Conquests added a significant amount more. Civ 4 had scenarios. Campaigns are linked scenarios, one leading into the next addressing some kind of storyline or at the very very least a significa

I like the variety of races. I like the concept behind them all. If one had to take the bullet to let the Snathi in, I'd say the Torians deserved the award. I also wish the Iconians would do something.... in any of my games. They've never been anything more than a minor race who have been way behind in all areas and folded at the first sign of trouble. I think they need to be worked on a bit to develop their racial skills. Get them as tech monsters, even if they're not very aggressive

The biggest hull the Terrans have is 80 cargo space, which means 160 in pts. I thought BoG mode meant everyone's tech was equal. Racial bonus in miniturisation? The galactic wonder.... hmm... could be something else that I can't bring to mind at the moment.

Tell us about the best AI moves I personally like the Drengin quickstep, the Yor fandango and the Korx breakdance. Those Torians are crap dancers!

I agree with a lot you said, although HEEGZ did mention a valid point regarding strategy. Play on tough before making calls on what the AI does. Don't take that to mean I am trying to invalidate your experience (I hate it when people do that) just that it does make a significant difference to play..... e.g. In most cases the game is won or lost in the first few

Damn that lack of self-propelled jelly tarts! It's the only reason I bought Galciv and I'm going to whinge, whine, moan AND complain until they take up their rightful place in the tech tree straight after Custard planetary defense system! MOO2 had a whole assortment of puddings, sweets and other biscuit based life forms.... Galciv just doesnt compare!! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2

I also think that planetary invasion is a bit unbalanced for invaders and soldiering is a weak ability if compared to economy or research You know, I recently changed my racial traits to significantly up my soldiering ability. This coupled with high population makes your worlds near invulnerable. Playing against the Dreadlords was a real chang

Another satisfied customer....... Seriously though for anyone reading. If you have bugs - report them to help develop the game. So a game is released not 100% perfect...... wow, that sounds like the last 20 years of my gaming life. If you have time to complain, you have time to post details and you have time to do it in a polite fashion. For the satisfied people

Max3000, yes to some degree I go with what you are saying. It's hard to accept waste when you are striving so hard to perfect your empire. You can, to some degree, look at it from a more macro point of view and it helps to resolve this issue, but it is still there. However, my problem here is that so many people on this forum post up their SINGLE defining thing that must happen to make this game succeed........ yet they're all different! Every day there is a post (or 10) with... this

In an attempt to play the diplomat here...... Hereticked, can you be more specific, i.e. list bugs you've encountered. The couple you mentioned I have never seen posted here before so I would like some more details. In honesty, I have played through at least 10 games huge/gigantic and never had such significant bugs that totally broke the game. That said, yes there are bugs.... some big ones... bigger than the Thalans! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif"

I've never flipped a minor race and, in truth, I really didnt think it was possible given that you can drop influence bases right next to them, have high influence planets right next to them..... and they still never flip. Flipping core AI worlds isn't very difficult once you hit a critical mass of influence - they dont even need to be within your cultural boundaries.
