Outside of an internet forum, did you hear about the rootkit situation? Did you hear about it on the local news? The network news? Actually it was on all major internet news sites. BBC ran stories on it practically from Day 1..... you can't really claim that BBC isn't a major news provider globally! Also Scumbag, I think you are miss

It will never work. For every one person who actually cares about Starforce, there are 1,000 who don't, and will never, care. If you believe wholly in that, then you believe that you have no power to change anything in your life or the world! Of those

You do not go about promoting copy protection by referencing piracy (which could sort to inadvertantly promote piracy). I just wrote an email to the ESA saying exactly that. I suggest that anyone else who feels strongly about this or other StarForce abominations do something about it rather than sit shaking their heads in despair. Blog, write

Starforce (or whatever the company that makes it is called) is a dirty sleazy company that brings all developers associated with it a bad name. Yet another underhand and dirty tactic from them - linking a URL to pirated software because a company (Stardock) shows them up by having a hugely popular title with no copy protection. I am waiting for these criminals to be brought to justice and hope that it provokes a massive change in the way the industry deals with its customers.

I agree that having to make 20 or more constructors per starbase is too much. And I also think everyone flaming him for having an opinion should go outside more, and maybe try to get a girlfriend. Only one person made even a mildly derogatory statement, hardly flaming him for an opinion. In fact, your comment is undoubtedly the rudest

While ship design isnt strictly necessary, it definitely gives you the edge in all areas of the game. For a start, you really want to upgrade your coloniser/constructors to make use of new engine designs. You can design highly specialised ships such as mass sensor arrays to act as border patrols. In fact, the possibilities in ship design really make this game special - and that's really without worrying if your ships look cool. Remember, if you take the time to design a sh

Did you put higher tier techs on the ship? Then they wont unlock until you research that tech. The best idea is to design your ships as barebones - just the hull and nothing else. Also best to do it immediately that you get the new hull size. I still have some problems with a couple of my barebones designs not showing up straight away but most of them work fine.

Here's a few of my Terran designs. I've got *lots* of designs for every type of ship, so here are just a few! Also, I have a load of really cool Thalan ones all designed to look like insects - but Thalans wont start on Battle Of The Gods mode so I need to wait until the next time I play a game through with them. Also, it's really difficult I find to take a good snap of designs - they just dont look as

At least hide the other civilizations influence zones. I don't think they should hide the stars though, you can see stars from a long way a way in real life ... heck, you can even tell if planets are orbiting them with todays technology. I agree totally with this. You should be able to see stars by sector and even planets - just not their qual

Seen it happen many times. Just reload the last save and it will all go back to normal. Conquer that planet again and you are unlikely to get the same remainder. It's the reason why I set my auto save to every 2 turns. It also seems to happen in various other circumstances that I haven't fully isolated yet. Definitely annoying but I am sure it's being worked on.

Well Blueman, I'm afraid to disappoint you..... I have been playing games as long as you - longer from the looks of it.... but I still don't agree with you! I have absolutely no problems with building Starbases. Simply set a rally point, use governers to tell ships to go there, rinse and repeat. I like the above idea though about super constructors building multiple components. I do agree t

I agree with HEEGZ..... the faster the better! I have a series of Colony ships ready for each engine improvement and I invariably spend my first few research turns getting those faster colony ships out.

Definitely not an exploit. After troop modules and maybe a little added range.... what else are you going to put on a Troop Carrier? All it has to do it avoid combat and get to the target quickly, so really, there is no other choice as far as I can see. In other words, I would say it's taken for granted that Troop Carriers are going to be quick!

Now, all of that being said, here is my main question: It seems to me from other threads I've read here that most other people don't specialize their planets as much as I do. They tend to make jacks of all trades, but masters of none. For example, I never have starports on anything other than my production planets. If it's a research planet, it's entirely dedicated to rese

Please allow an option to deny previous user designs in new games (Or better yet, a screen where you can see all user designs and choose which ones will appear). I think a system where you had 2 options to save a design would work well. One to save it permanently, one to save it just for this game. Then you could make your barebones model and a

My suggestion would be to do a little "constructive diplomacy"..... why not try and negotiate a war between a couple of parties. Find out who is allied to who and with a little skill and luck, you can set the whole galaxy on each other and sit back and laugh. If you are worried about the Arceans, build some military starbases on your borders with them. Send more trade ships their way and sell off some of your crappy techs to them. As for what to do, Paradox above said it ri

I like this mechanic in sandbox mode..... but it's a real pain in the campaigns.... I think it should have been removed from them. A recent game of Apocalypse on intelligent.... in literally 10 turns, my allied forces (Terrans, Altarians, Arceans, Torians) went from being stronger than the Dreadlords to suddenly surrendering all their planets to me, whereupon I was in a much much weaker position. I didn't have ships to defend the new acquisitions and I ended up greatly overextending myself to tr

I think there are just a lot of factors in play in any given game. I have also had this same experience - the Drengin *never* amount to anything more than a minor race..... at any level I've played at. They always have the fewest planets, the weakest economy and the lowest tech..... but they do always have a decent military rating. I am looking forward to the day when they get a decent start and become the number one tyrant of the galaxy with all us good races banding together to fight off their

But I cannot accept "well I could buy it ...but I dun wanna, I've got new x-men figures to buy.(or whatever)" Those people are scum I would have to say thats a load of rubbish Ocatavius. The people who are scum and ruining the market are the crappy developers (if they can be given such a professional title) that churn out total crap which an in

Again, to re-state obvious examples: In one turn, you will gain 200,000 or 400,000 new taxpayers per planet (based on approval rating). It is unreasonable to suppose that over a week, that many new taxpayers would be found. Elections seem to occur every 12 weeks, or at least they occur more frequently than every 52 weeks. This makes no sense (especially since

I think there must be an issue with the numbers you are putting in. I played with 8 points (whatever percentage that is) in PQ ability a couple of games ago and it certainly worked, all my newly colonised planets received a PQ boost and workable tiles. Perhaps try a lower number.
