So far I have won the first 4 missions of the Dread Lords campaign on level Tough (meaning the AI is set at Intelligent). In the last one I finally encountered the Dread Lords. In this mission I killed 75 ships of the Dread Lords, Drengin, and Yor, losing only 1 constructor ship! How did I win every battle without losing any combat ships even when battling a Dread Lords frigate (the most powerful ship I encountered in the mission last

Brad/Froyboy is not an evil computer from the future, he is Draginol, the dark Mithrilar! I Mascrinthus, the last of the good Mithrilars will stop him!

I case anyone is still confused, just hit "Print Screen" to copy the screen to the Windows clipboard, fire up any graphics program, hit Ctrl-V to paste the image, and finally save it to JPEG format. It is best to run the game in Window mode if you plan to make several screen captures.

I for one am happy to hear the AI will become smarter and don't understand players difficulty beating it above level Normal. I agree with the above posts that even on Intelligent the AI is making some basic mistakes! Great post! I totally agree that social spending should not be charged if construction is idle. This is not a bug as it was a design change after the manual was written but I think it should be changed back to match military spending. Currently, I'm forced to switch my focus to military or research spending on planets with idle social construction to minimize the waste. This means more micro-management that takes away from the fun of the game! Stardock h

The problem is, a 10% bonus to research is hugely different than a 10% bonus to morale which is a huge difference form a 10% bonus to weapons. I mean, heck, if I have a ship with 8 attack, I won't even get an additional point. That's because you are rounding all floating point calculates down! If you would just add 0.5 to all floating

I have noticed if I have "Basic Factories" completing the same turn that I complete research on "Xeno Industrial Theory", I get completed "Factories" but no change in my hammers!

Nice! Now put it in the game. Until then players can run in Window mode and switch back and forth.

Nice! However, when are we going to be able to copy, modify, and save under a different name the core ship designs? I first asked for this back in Dec. during the Beta, see my post under my former name "Lord Darx" Link Or how about my other suggestions for improving the shipyard? See <a href="https://forums.g

The both the standard colony and troop modules hold 500 (thousand or million, their are referenses to both). The core colony ship appears to have two but I think that is just eye candle. The normal troop module holds 500 and takes 20 units of space. The advanced troop module holds 1000 and only uses 12 units of space. So even without the mini-techs you can get 3000 (thousand or million) troops on one ship and you can combine multiple ships together

You get the tech, but you still have to research the pre-requisites if you wish to advance beyond the tech that you just traded for. False! In fact the AI will complain if you bundle together old and new techs in a trade.

(1) Tech trading in key, so start out by research the Universal Translator. Even a trade that favors the other race might help you more in the long run since you can then trade these new techs multiple times to the other races. Building up your diplomacy will help your trading and forge alliances. Also, the minor races will give you better deals than the majors. (2) Setting up trade routes is not only a good source of income but also hel

The Drengin keep complaining that my strategy of making peace, building up and then re-declaring war would not work with them when I have never tried to make peace with them. I get this during the Dread Lords campaign (where we are always at war) playing on Tough.

I guess you didn't read any of the reviews or the sticky threads explaining why there is no multi-player. You should read GameSpot's review Link to see why you didn't waste your money; it was awarded Editor's Choice for good reason! There are lots of multi-player games with a stupid A.I. Thank use Stardock for making a GREAT singl

It was a GameSpot review of GalCiv2 that I read in Nov. 2005 that convinced me to pre-order and become a Beta tester! Jeff Lackey is a pretty well known strategy game reviewer. The overall rating I suspect has something to do with no multiplayer. I'm glad that Stardock put their resources

This is not a bug since this bonus is empire wide. Click on the "Civilization Manager" button, then select the "Stats & Graphs" tab, and finally click on Abilities. There you will see all your empire wide bonuses.

I think I was the first to mention it back in Dec. during the Beta as seen in this link with my old name "Lord Darx" Link and more recently in this thread with additional shipyard UI suggestions Link Please response to my thread with your thoughts to pull it back up to the top and maybe Stardock will add them in an update!

I think the logic is new players will start out with the campaign so let's present them with a limited tech tree with is easier to learn. Armor is not useless against beam weapons, just non-optimal. But since SQRT(1)=1, 1 Armor is the same as 1 Point Defense or 1 Shields against beam weapons. So, a ship with beam weapons 2 and armor 1 will usually beat a ship with beam weapons 3.

I recall the post. It think it was very near the time of code freeze in early Feb. This site needs better search capabilities! It should be easy to pull up all threads authored by or replied to by a given user, but it is not! Or all messages all by a given user. Whenever I try to add a Watch to a thread, it always times out!
