While you are counting down the days until GalCiv2 is finally released, you can check out this parody of both Star Trek and Babylon 5. Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning is the latest in the Star Wreck series. Enjoy!

can anyone indiacte how much actual RAM the game needs to run ok? (i've got 512M, but there's an awful lot of services in Windows XP) I have noticed that the Beta 5 gets as high as 600 MB but Brad has said that in the final release it only uses 300 MB with most of that swapped out. I have been running the Beta 5 on 512 MB of RAM. Many of the servic
There are so many factors that come into play in fleet battles, that you can't say whether a fleet of a few large ships or a fleet of many tiny ships is better. Just some of the factors: 1. Who is attacking and who is defending (the attacker has the advantage as many times the defender (or one of the defenders) is destroyed before he can fire back) 2. Is fleet #1's weapons optimal against fleet #2's defenses; is fleet #2's weapons optimal against fleet #1's defenses. 3.
Imagine one of my Allies comes under attack and asks for military assistance. However, my warships have insufficient range to respond unless they can resupply at the planets and/or star bases of my ally. If he needs the help of my warships, he surely would provide them with logistics support.
Trade Routes Maintained when Planet Surrenders to a Race I am at War with (GalCiv2 0.80a[b].002) (1) I made peace with the Fundamentalists, Altarians, and Torians (2) I got to make peach with each other. (3) I established trade routes with them. (4) The Torians surrendered to the Altarians. (5) Then the Altanians surrendered to the Drath, who I was at war with and the trade routes did not disappear!?
Let's hope that the high production values will allow GalCiv2 to break out of the single player strategy niche and attract players that don't normally play these games. I would like it to revive this neglected sector! Civ4 was voted by many, best strategy game of 2005. It is still early in 2006 but it looks like GalCiv2 could claim the title for 2006! Thank you Stardock for making a truly great game!
The influence shrinking event for example. It is very nasty for your influence zone. Nasty is not the word I would use, more like DEADLY! I was winning the game on all fronts in the Beta 5 when there was a backlash against my growing Terran influence. Suddenly blue completely disappeared from the map! <img src="smiles/Gasp.gif" borde
He should have said: All of a sudden older technology becomes more viable because if the enemy adapts to your weapons with strong counter-measure defenses you will need to switch to a less advanced alternative weapon. Also: <TD class="m
If a race has a negative treasury balance then on the stats/graphs it is shown as extremely large (likely because the negative integer is typecast to an unsigned integer). GalCiv2 0.80a[b].002
I hope this has already been caught and fixed. Orbital Fleet Manager Disappears on All My Planets after the Hyperion Fleet Manager is Built (GalCiv2 0.80a[b].002) After I built a Hyperion Fleet Manager on my Manufacturing Capital, the Orbital Fleet Manager on all my other planets disappeared. Also neither project would appear in the list of projects to choose from. This led me to believe the Hyperion Fleet Manager counted as a fleet manager on all my planets; however, aft
Why would you not want to know when new firepower is available? Depending on what techs you have the available attack and defense modules will not have equal strength yet each costs the same (one constructor ship). If you have the more advanced attack/defense modules installed you probably don't want to bother with the weaker ones. I always
only 3 games?!?!? how do u live I said I have only bought three games, I did not say I have only played three games. Back in the 80s when I was in high school and later university, I was short on cash and traded pirated games with my friends. Now that I am older, wiser, and richer, I don't participate in trading pirated software anymore. I
I'd buy new versions Colonization, Alpha Centuri, or any of the XCOM games immediately even if all they had were modern graphics and the exact same gameplay! At the ripe old age of 39, I have only purchased three games in my life: (1) Alpha Centuri (cost me only US$20 retail at some small store in a mall, I think they had discounted it bec
You should take a look at the available demo of GalCiv I I have not played GalCiv I but by all reports GalCiv II will be far superior. GalCiv II has 3D instead of 2D graphics, a much improved AI, the ability to design custom ships, etc. I have only purchased three games in my life, GalCiv II was the third and based on what I have seen in play
THAT is exactly the sort of editing/modding tool I hope you guys release sometime after the game goes retail Seconded! With this tool players could not only provide alternate text but could also translate to languages Paradox chooses not to support.
Was a COPY button added to the ship design as I suggested in a previous post Link , so that you can create new designs by copying and modifying designs?
Nice story! I'm glad to see you putting so much effort into improving the AI! Looking at the planet screenshot, the planet is going to build a manu capital on a world with only one factory Ashberry - the AI didn't do that, I did. It's a class 15 world, there will be plenty of factories wh
The only 4X game that has some of my interest (apart from GC2) is SpaceEmpires5. I played Space Empires III and IV; extensively. I like the weapons and defenses better in Space Empires than GalCiv (as I mentioned in a previous post); however, the AI was poor. A poor AI kills a turn based 4X game! I like the AI in the GalCiv2 Beta 5 and the f

I like creating short, medium, and long range versions (varying in price) of the standard ship designs. However, each time I create a new design I need to start from scratch. It would be nice if I could copy the standard colony ship (with all its' added eye candy) and then just change the engines and life support. This is basically what happens when we upgrade a ship design. So how about adding a COPY button next to the NEW button.
