Generally you want to focus your research on one weapons type at a time. However, when you get your research up to the point were you can blast through multiple techs in one turn it might be useful to be able to split the research. Also, for some branches it is useful to research older techs (i.e., moral techs for the bonuses) but then any excess research won't care over to later techs. For example, if I have Level 2 Morale, don't have Level 1 and 3, research Level 1 Morale, the excess won't c

It would be nice if tech names in the trading window were linked to the tech tree so that you could quickly review the tech before deciding on a trade. For example if I'm going to trade deflectors, enhanced deflectors, advanced deflectors, and superior deflectors, I will trade them one at a time in order. You don't want to trade superior deflectors before defectors because that devalues the defectors tech. Without checking the tech tree it is not obvious which is better enhanced, advanc

There already is a Star Wars themed empire, The Jedi Republic, http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=empire&id=26 . However, it looks like your empire represents the Dark Sith Lords, for those that prefer the dark side. https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=162&aid=104111 I choose for my avatar, Mascrinthus <a href="https://forums.galciv2.com
Bump. But if game difficulty levels "Masochistic", "Obscene", and "Suicidal" all set the AI "Incredible", then the AI runs at 200% for each. So how are they different? Perhaps on "Masochistic" the AI does not get a boost to all the stats whereas on "Suicidal" everything is boosted? Also, the progression in difficulty levels is not uniform. After easily defeating the AI on Tough in the campaign I wanted to play my first Metaverse game at a harder level. I thought on Cri
As for Metaverse scoring, I would suggest going the harsh route so as to totally prevent abuse: The lowest difficulty level seen during the game is what determines the score for the whole game. You want a better score, don't start at a low level! I disagree. I think it should use the average difficulty level. I game that starts on level Crippling an
Just the one colony ship that you start with. After that, it's all my own designs. I just click the "user" tab so that the core ships don't even show up in the lists. I always click the "user" tab and ignore the core ships. Even at game start, before I have researched engines and life support I can make a faster colony ship (using multiple engines) wi
Go home and enjoy the weekend with your family and friends. I would like to see Stardock taker their time with v1.3 not only so that they can balance home/work life but also to include some of the good suggestions from players like Dynamic Game Difficult Level, https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=247&aid=124215#962595

It is only counting tax income. Other sources of income would include: trade from freighters, tourism, tribute/gifts, selling techs, etc.
I think that in SG1 it feels like a war now. With the snakes it really didn't feel like one all the time because of all the infighting and such. I like it, and I can't wait to see what they will come up with to beat those seemingly impenetrable shields. They will call on the Inter-Galactic Order of Space Plumbers to deal with these nasty Space Toilets
Magnanumaniac, Um. That was NOT useful information. HOW? What techs do you need? Tell me HOW you get to this point. He plays as Neutral, so he would build the Harmony Crystals, research the entire moral tech branch for its bonuses and building Virtual Reality Centers, plus likely has multiple maxed out star bases mining morale resources.
I think that when you are not using social production, and it's being shifted to military production, the game reads your social production on that planet as zero, because all improvements that you select (but do not double-click to build) will say never. Correct. After adding to your social build queue, click to focus on social spending and then cli
discovery sphere allows for omega research, so it's not that you wouldn't ever research this path after obtaining NLCs Or if your going for a Tech victory, or your trying to maximize your research score.
I actually voted for politics on the poll, but I didn't really understand the difference between that and "advanced diplomacy." Neither did I. Frogboy/Brad later explained that politics refered to domestic politics and diplomacy, external politics.
At game setup: (1) Disable all victory conditions except for Military Conquest (2) Select gigantic map with everything abundant and either loose or scattered clusters (more habitable planets means more people) (3) Select the maximum 9 opponents (4) Select very fast research and enable tech trading (to research the most possible in a short game) (5) Select the hardest difficult level you can handle As your population grows so to does your score; however, as the years
I don't know how to score 150000-200000 but I scored a 61250 on my first Metaverse game so I can surely get you well above 9000. Your medal says different His medals are for his AngleWyrm character which has 9 victories; 7 Tough, 1 Painful, and 1 Masochistic which is averaged down to Tough. His AngleWing character has 3 victories on Crippling.
Supergates would increase the gulf between the game play of a decent human player and the AIs. Decent human players would make effective use of them and the AIs likely would not. Look at how poorly the AIs build up their planets, make use of economic star bases, and they never create the most important Galactic Wonder, "Eyes of the Universe".
I'm bumping my post so that more players see it and comment on it. This would make the mid/late game mop up more challenging and hence interesting.
Bonuses. The different levels get different stat multipliers, which means they work faster. But if game difficulty levels "Masochistic", "Obscene", and "Suicidal" all set the AI "Incredible", then the AI runs at 200% for each. So how are they different?
Lots of people's medals don't show, why is that? You don't have medals until you submit your first Metaverse game. If you have medals and they are not showing up then login to the Metaverse http://metaverse.galciv2.com/">Link and select "Account" -> "Edit My Characters". To the right of you character y
After you research DS, it will default upgrade to those instead of NLC. Sounds like a bug.
But when they do a fantasy turn based strategy game, I'd REALLY REALLY REALLY like that to be multiplayer. Their next game, Society, already in development will be multiplayer. http://www.societygame.com/
I ran all the way through to adv. espionage once and then it told me that there was no reason to keep spending money since I had reached the top. For that reason I stop spending after Advanced but the descriptions in the game are not always accurate. For example, many people rush to the end of the goverments tech tree because they believe each provi
