Add on to #2. Click on your starbase and select it. You'll see the starbase's circle of effect. If planet is in that area then there ya go! if its not.. build another one closer to that planet.

I can give some tips though you may also search the forums for tips. Initial Turn Stuff: I say spending must goto 100%. Set homeworld to manufacture a scout. BUY scout. Reason uncover more map and send them off in different directions to map out the galaxy faster. The sooner you know where the good planets are, the sooner you can send a colonizer there. Also I raise taxes a bit. Find a spot that gets you money without trashing your
don't forget the 'terrorist' empires - I-League, Vegans, Fundamentalists.
Well you were fighting them... sometimes a race will pick another of your enemy to surrender to, just to SPITE you. Also in their farewell message they say goodbye (Hope we see you in Hell ) hee hee. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Congrats.
Can't wait to read the assessment of the other races. LoL. I have to agree with those three though.
Snathi are cool.. I usually 'try' to get along with peacefully with minors. However sometimes I invoke wars of 'necessity' just so to have a fighting chance... As in its a necessary I take that 15 PQ planet. If I don't do this I generally benefit from them as a trading partner... every now and then some minor would sell a weapon tech when the majors tell me over their dead body or ask if I've been drinking again. Plus years of freighter BC. <br/
Stardock is a little biased on the Drengins.
Is creative a lost cause ??
Are minors not flippable ?? My last game, I took out the Arceans with influence. 3/4th of the Yor, 90% of the Thalan. Altaria was busy fighting Yor / Torians. I had several minor races deep in my influence zones. Major planets would flip and minors never did. . SOoo made me want to bring it up?
Awesome read.
I think the AI does a relatively good job at adapting on the higher difficulties. I'm not so sure I agree with you on the second point. Defensive components do take up progressively less space the more you research. Also utilizing starbases helps heaps too.
Rock on! Nice work guys!
Fighters or Carriers.. Well as they said no carriers. I name my Tiny ships fighter and smalls heavy fighter. Scaling on life support is very good, at most one can take 2-3 units. Being carried around isn't necessary.. Although I know it's a different thing entirely. However, what you CAN do is make a big ship say Large and fill the rest of a fleet with all tiny ships..
I think its a factor of what level the person is playing on. Easy game = easy flip, Tough game = tough to flip. No data to back that assertion up, other than a couple of observations playing once on easy and another on tough.
I leave it for later. Mars suxorz on the PQ scale. I wholly agree and use the strategy posted in #2. I think its best to get that 10-12 in the next system over and have an early manu planet in addition to your homeworld.
Interesting Ideas. No tricking the AI! Hehe. Anyways having the latest defences is as important as the latest offenses. Once in a while you may not get the first shot.
Stardock Rulez. Stardock Rulez. Stardock Rulez.
I still won't believe it's REAL. I came to same conclusion, no way for a PQ of 72. I will not be satisfied its real unless a metaverse save can show that. Otherwise its too easy to go and edit your customplanets.xml
and all the creatures were stirring... Even a Kat Lord or Two. The Jedi are assembling in their hallowed halls. Diplomats are uniting. The Federation has begun mustering up. Even a colonial fleet has appeared. Threats from an overmind are looming.
1500 hrs EST. 3pm for you civilians. Since one never knows. I'll check it early once or twice. May be futile.. but.. I CANT WAIT!!

I'll share what I've been using. It's called Notepad++ and can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/notepad-plus OR http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm I've had no problems with it viewing all the files in the data directory, and when it comes to actually wanting to mod an xml file its pretty nifty there. It's GNU General Public License, so free to download.
Let me *try* to be the first to say "Thanks Stardock" and heap on some praises. Let us employ bards to document this epic date. Everything about this newly released game is WOW! Awesome. Thank you for your hard work, long hours, dedication, and passion for making the game. Absolutely the best! PS. Looks like even the pre-loading is a smash hit! I now call on the diplomats, veterans, and citizens of this forum to back
As a PAYING customer of civ4 I use a work around just to skip the infernal CD check... makes me feel like a criminal. Heck I'd buy 5 copies of civ4 just on account it's that 'Hall of Fame' of a game, if not for the cd check stuff. As is now I'm just going to use tax returns to buy whatever else star dock makes just to say thanks for skipping protection. object deskt
