I feel somewhat guilty for submitting it... but if it gets the developers to change the scoring system that will ease my guilt....

I am SO very happy that this got some peoples attention. I intended to take first place empire, (with one game) and would have done so had there not been a persistent crash to desktop at about 210 years. I am hoping that this will get the dev's attention and that they will do something about this. Until then I am done with the metaverse, and likely with the game as well. In the end even my son got bored, so
Well, it turns out that somewhere around 210 years, there is a persistent ctd that occurs every time you hit that year. So, I am stuck with my 4,600,000++ score due to a ctd, lol. Not that I blame the designers, I am pretty sure the game was not designed to go that many years... So, I won't single handledly be the first place empire, just the second or third place empire, lol. http://metaverse.galciv2.com/ind
Ok... I just have to wait until I am watching a movie or something, I just can't bring myself to do the boring end turn thing without some other entertainment. Then I can get those last 2 million points and submit.
Ok, well, since that didn't draw any interest, lets remove the hypothetical from it. I have a game right now where I could end it and receive a score of 4,680,000 ++ I need only to hit end turn during a couple more HBO movies, and it will exceed the highest EMPIRE score, which was somewhere in the 5 million range. Since it will be my only game played on that character, that single game will exceed the biggest empire score current
"Hypothetically" speaking... What would happen if I submitted a game where the score was so ridiculously high as to actually be higher than the number 1 EMPIRE score? Since this would be my only score, (I would in theory delete all of my other scores for this purpose) it wouldn't be diluted with the square root average whatever..... Now obviously this score would be about 5 times the current high score for any charact
I just buy the first factory. Late in the game your cashflow should support that. HOWEVER... I usualy dont have to do that, because I use traditional invasion every time, win or lose. I would rather send a second or even a 3rd transport, then remove the buildings I want removed, like those silly orbital / planetary defense buildings, or maybe the 17 embassies.... Occasionaly I still have to purchase a factory, but it i
[sarcasm] No, no, the game is obviously worthless. I mean, if a top of the line computer cant even run the beta, after being fixed repeatedly by a top of the line pc owner, then the game is obviously crap. Which mean of course, that a very large portion of gamers enjoy playing crap games that dont play at all on thier less than top of the line systems, because this is, after all, a top ten selling game. [/sarcasm] <
hmm.. thanks. I really want this to be a stand alone score, bad enough to erase my medals. I am trying to make a new account, perhaps that will do it
Ok, I can see why they would do that, I figured as much. My other question... resetting your score.... does it do exactly that? In other words I could delete all my other scores and then submit this game as that characters only score?
Just to clarify, I want to change the character before the game is submited, I am not interested in changing what I have already submitted. I have such a ridiculously High score in this game I played that I don't want it diluted by the other scores. Yes it says total score, but its an average, not a total. If I have to I will reset scores for that character, but want to make sure that will even work before giving up all these pr
Not sure if it can be done, but I would like to post a game under a character name I didn't even have when I started the game. Can that be done? If not, I will likely "reset scores" for that character. If I am guessing right, that deletes all previous games scored for that character, allowing you to start over, right? Any help much appreciated.
Actually, there IS a problem with auto pilot, has been since day one, and apparently no one that can fix it cares. Try this. Turn one, colony ship that can move 2 spaces. Tell it to move 3 spaces. Hit end turn. Ship moves 2 spaces, and the date advances. Hit end turn. Ship moves 1 space, and the date advances . Now try it again after toggling "skip leftover moves" or whatever its called. You will s
I was playing a game where I had every single tech, including tech victory, but had tech victory turned off. I also had every single galactic wonder and super project. It was an experimental game to see if the best way to get a good score was to click end turn mindlessly for 4 days. (Turns out is was, and the scoring is broken, but thats another topic) Imagine my surprise when I encountered a pirate fleet twice the size and capabilitie
1) Meeting the woman who would later become my wife while playing Quake 2. 2) Writing the last line of code for Path of Ascension, the #1 Neverwinter Nights mod. It was like running a marathon, a sense of accomplishment mixed with exhaustion mixed with joy that it is DONE. 3) Killing every single NPC in Morrowind. I remember standing on a hill overlooking a town, watching the townsfolk run around in a panic. I could almost hear m
PC gaming will always be ten times more expensive... but then remember, you get what you pay for. It's pretty much that simple. If you can afford to keep up with PC technology, your gaming is going to be so, so much more "everything" than a relatively inexpensive console can be. On a side note, the console tends to limit the community aspects of PC gaming. How many gaming clans that have been around more than 5
If the admins would just delete the bug reports that don't have the proper credentials, maybe some of these people would learn to submit a proper bug report, like tasty gerbil.
Have you actualy checked your GC2 memory usage over time? There are a lot of things that can cause the symptoms you have, memory leak is just one of them.
Fluke, by the mid game, the enemy is under your thumb with this tactic. All of them. It works as well in the end game as in the mid. I usualy move up to medium hulls in the late game. Dominico... I havent seen an enemy ship that could move more than 5 tiles. I dont think I have seen them move 4 tiles lol. I cant wait for the update, having them put more engines on will be cool... but I have a feeling the tactic will
I see 3 great ways to fix this issue, if you want to call finding a way to kick ass an issue. (There will always be a new way to kick ass) All 3 mentioned here in this topic. Increase HP. Make shots fired simultaneous. Have an initiative roll.
Just a question... is the nano riper bugged? Then techs after singularity driver IV allow access to much much weaker weapons.
I have been hesitant to bring this up until I saw for sure that it still worked so well on painful difficulty as it did on the lesser modes. I haven't put any sort of defence on any of my ships for 8 or 9 games now. Not one deflector, not one armor, not one point defence, nothing, zilch, nada. I take the time I would have spent researching those techs, and instead get ahead in the warp drive department. I bui
Due to some memory saving tricks they use, when you alt tab it will take a long time to get the game back up The black screen with coursor is normal, just wait. Depending on your PC, it could take anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes.
I have tried all of them, looked at the feel and the benefits of each, and I am leaning toward neutral once they get neutrality learning center fixed.
